how. you live with me. the font of dark historical knowledge. Stuff you Missed in History Class just re-released their old episode about it. Truly a worst case scenario come true. Pieces of the ships were hurled up to five miles away... the fact that the blast actually was so strong that it laid bare the waterway down to the dirt and created a massive wave upon the water rushing back in is just astounding. Many people were rubber necking the burning ships by windows and such- as a result, hundreds upon hundreds had severe eye injuries- the blast rendered many deaf as well. Surprisingly enough, many of the men aboard the ship laden with TNT lived- the second they knew a fire had begun, they hauled overboard and rowed/swam for shore and hid in the woods. Then the worst snowstorm in 20 some years hit. It's hard to imagine.

Mine didn't change, so I took matters into my own hands.

I want that gruff veteran who's seen some things and knows what hard work and victory feels like to come in and take Jacky boy by his hand and smack some sense into him. If that doesn't work then I'm on the same page as the rest of you. I get being bummed about your bro leaving but... time to break up the cozy family "it's ok bro, we all suck hurr hurr" petulant mentality. Smacking your sticks around and cussing is just theatrics. This is a business. Put up or shut up.

Just make sure you queue up a new batch of gory medical photos to amuse me with, K? KEGGER -
Driving to Rochester to get a long planned tattoo needled into my body by my best friend. It'll be the most fun I've ever had getting inked.

<3 to you 11. Sorry bout the downer on my end guys. I guess thanks for being an outlet for it. I don't post much on anything besides OT here and probably won't until the fortunes start to turn the other way for the team. Still, I'd have a beer with just about any of ya.

IDK. The way everyone's acting, it sounds like someone made what could be construed as an offensive comment or something. IG Live videos disappear as soon as the broadcast is over. And since no one is saying, they're either worried about people coming after them for repeating it, orrrr it's all a good troll game and nothing happened. Boys with coke line mustaches? Insensitive racial comment towards teammate? Derogatory f***the fans message? Diabolical plan to blow up the world? The mind boggles!

buump. Went home for Thanksgiving. Learned of another old friend's death. Another heroin related ending. At the end of October, his brother had posted that he was in the ICU. I'd been watching the posts to see if he improved, never saw anything, didn't think much of it after a couple of weeks. It came up during dinner my first night home, and that's when I discovered he had passed, and the post his brother made never showed up in my newsfeed for whatever reason. The family never put up an obituary. It's been lingering in my brain for a good week or so now. This guy, to make a long story short, set in motion a series of events that put me through years of hell. Dumb kid stuff- he hadn't met me yet when he started it all. Then he got to know me, and we became really good friends, and he did everything he could to stop the BS he'd started, but couldn't- it had snowballed by then. I'll never forget a conversation we had before he walked on stage to graduate (he was a senior when I was a freshman). He said he didn't deserve my friendship, that he would only ever amount to a lot of baggage to people, that he'd washup and die before 30. He made 30. But only just. Left behind a 9 year old daughter. It just breaks me- he had a good heart, was friendly and well liked, but he just kept making mistakes and discounting himself into more failure. Came from a good family, had a lot of talent. He was a big bear of a guy, gave the best hugs. Death toll of people I knew in high school is just higher and higher from this sh!t.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
josie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
I'm here for bearded Cap'n 'Merica. I was not a fan of Civil War. It just went on forever and never entertained me at all. Maybe it was better in theaters, I don't know. So I'm really hoping this one is enjoyable. It's been interesting to watch all the people I know who were like "Thor? Oh, another superhero movie? justice league? bah. Sick of 'em. Barf" get all giddy and starry eyed over another Avengers trailer. -
Oh my god. I saw this like 14 years ago on b3ta.com. It wasn't tumblr then, but I'd forgotten about it. Amazing. I'm pretty sure I'd printed out a couple of them and taped them on my high school assignment book haha

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
josie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Thanks NS. Definitely one I'll have to take the time to watch- can't work and watch a subbed movie too well. I used to be able to watch war films/tragedies without too much issue, it's increasingly more difficult. I make myself do it though, it's important to me. I feel I owe it in some small part to those who went through it to hear their stories and try to slightly grasp what they went through. It's why I gorge on documentaries all day. First hand accounts. I've mentioned it before, but Dan Carlin's Hardcore History does an incredible and haunting series on Stalingrad- Ghosts of the Ostfront. Anything's gotta be a better look into Stalingrad's siege than that absolute piece of crap farce Enemy at the Gates. Ron Perlman trying to be Russian. With a British accent. Oy. -

Why, did you pick him up on fantasy again?

Yeah, that first package is mine... I finally decided to spend my hard earned and limited money on something for me, and of course it's long gone now. Hours of sitting on their damn horrible phone service, contacting them through twitter, harrassing any mailman I saw and the apartment office lady, no dice. Can't wait for all the gifts and such I ordered on black friday to never ever show up.

You’re the second person to point that out. Sorry.

First time flying into Buffalo tonight- we took a big loop flight path in and passed right over Niagara Falls. I always window seat and was staring out, started to recognize the gorge, and barely snapped a pic. Pretty cool.

Michigan fan. Home for Thanksgiving. Toledo is the border battle city and the home of both coaches. I'm already beyond sick of the horrible OSU culture you get up here, and Michigan laid another turdburger. Can't wait to go out for a bite with my family and have insults thrown at me for wearing a Michigan sweatshirt. 'Course, the real losers in this game are all the dudes who got injured... geez. Every play was a player carted off the field. Why do I do this to myself? Sorry, I haven't had a team I rooted for win anything in a pretty damn long time now.

Everything Sabres Uniform Related - Royal Blue Please!
josie replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
Yup. That's design in a nutshell. I like them but they look like a case of someone having a good retro look and then being told to rein it in to be safe. But then I see the people in the design community around here who get those jobs and... I'm sorry, their work is always really boring. "Solid" and "Traditional" are synonyms for "safe" and "what we always do". And then you get the third jersey turdburgers which are just a bunch of alcoholic chefs who got into the cooking sherry and had made sh!t smoothies all over the kitchen of design. If you ask me, which you didn't, these should be our regular away jerseys (minus the stupid little NY on the logo), and our Winter Classic money grab chance to do something cool should hearken to the literal sweaters of the 20s but with a Buffalo theme. The colors are right, the design is banal, but I still like them. Sue me. -

I'm sick of them too, but Thor was what they used to be/should be in my opinion- fun. -
If you ever lose a package, don't waste your time trying to call the USPS as they tell you to. It will take 30 some minutes to navigate the automated system, and then you face a ~2 hour long hold to speak to a live human being. Just go on twitter and tweet at their help account. It's not instant, but the 2 hour hold isn't up yet and I'm actually getting somewhere. Yeesh. Talk about a job I would never want to have- going postal indeed. Always super nice to those people because nothing aggravates people more than missing mail. Even if they have completely lost some of my stuff before...

That makes me think of Torts. When he went to Columbus, a lot of people said that his aggressive often tantrum-y style wouldn't work there... but CBJ is doing their best in franchise history now. Has he had to take the gloves off to get results? I don't know, but I wonder if helped kick them into a new gear (along with some good trades). They're not Stanley Cup winners yet, but they are certainly where I think we thought we'd be by now. Fun look into him with them : https://www.theringer.com/2017/10/6/16435370/columbus-blue-jackets-john-tortorella I saw someone on another thread say they wanted more of the classic Herb Brooks "BAG SKATE. AGAIN. Failure is not an option" approach. I'm inclined to agree from what I've read. Does "losing culture" mean players happy to middle along and collect a good paycheck/enjoy the celebrity life, or is it an exasperated "why even bother" attitude?
