So, I don't know about awesome, but, if any of you live in Rochester/Pittsford and have heard about the shooting at the McDonald's on Monroe ave, I'm the building next door and am looking right at it. I sit by the window so just I'm sitting here watching them place evidence markers and check under cars. We heard popping noises and made jokes about a shooting. And apparently there was. My boss went outside and talked to a detective, word is the sheriff shot the suspect in the parking lot. A female police officer was taken away in an ambulance. My car and several of my coworkers' cars are in the part of the parking lot that is cordoned off by a police tape perimeter. Exciting times. I just hope everyone is ok. There were at least 15 cop cars here when it started a half hour or so ago. No sirens were used, so we just happened to look out and see a ton of flashing lights. sorry for potato phone quality.

My bad news train finally seems to have stopped in the station. I changed platforms and am finally on the good news train. I should get my car back tomorrow and I just got a raise at work! I'm working on a really cool new project too... Power Rangers stuff that's usually reserved for the top dudes in the office. I knew things couldn't be as bad as they were through the holidays and most of January and stay that way. Hope the good news train stops for all of you, too!

Sometimes being meek for a bit until you've been around a bit is the best way to go. I'm still a lurker, honestly. Being d4rk's old lady kind of helps, I'm sure. I'm terrified to post on a lot of things because I'm still learning a lot. I post in a lot of off topic threads and game day stuff. I have some fiery opinions about controversial points, yes, but unless I feel I can get into a really long, detailed argument that i can back up with solid fact or a very persuasive vault of information, I generally don't. I just argue with d4rk in person a lot. I have probably written about a zillion things that I've decided to delete before I hit that post button. Someday? Yes. But not yet. I'm a Detroit area transplant to the area and a relatively recent (although totally obsessed) hockey fan. I'm doing my best to learn from all y'all and am doing plenty of research on my own. But if I am ever less than polite, you're justified to rip me up for it. I realize I don't know what I don't know. I think a lot of new posters do know a lot, but fail to realize just how massive the existing (and already posted) knowledge bank on this forum is. Lurk and learn :)

I'm rootin' for Denver. Never had a reason to dislike the team, and I have a high opinion of Peyton Manning. I was hoping for a Seahawks/Broncos clash because of the defense/offense combo. I like that neither one has been in the Super Bowl in a few years. Plus, that field is going to be super colorful with those uniforms.

I enjoyed reading it in his own words, edited or not. It's refreshing to read eloquence. He could have acted better, but the media will now completely blow it out of proportion. I've been getting my hackles up at all the racism of course, and the Stanford talk, that he's only a Stanford guy because he could play football, like is said about 'Bama and LSU. I have a friend I've known since elementary school who went to Stanford as a favorite for the NFL draft. He was a brilliant guy admittedly, super human smart and capable, but the school did not go easy on him just because he was a football player and/or a man of color. He had to work his ass off. A career ending injury changed his track, and now he's an emergency doctor studying at Mount Sinai who also happened to be a musical theatre double major. Perhaps they're not of the same ilk and an unfair comparison, being completely different individuals and from different backgrounds, but from what I've heard, Sherman had a 3.9 and possesses plenty of smarts... Just needs to check himself when the adrenaline and hype gets him going. If people are going to criticize Sherman, I would hope that they focus on his current actions and not some bombastic edgy discourse on his ethnicity and lucky breaks in life. It's going to be an entertaining final game.

Oh- another awesome thing! I get my car back this week! Oh my GOD have I missed my stickshift and all wheel drive. Oh my baby... I've missed you... The insurance nightmare is far from over but I can't wait to get my Subaru back.

yeaah yeah yeah. shut it, Chara. I did miss it last night. I watched it this morning. I guess I don't see why everyone's panties are in a twist. He's a super excited young guy going to the Super Bowl. So he trash talked a bit- well, is anyone really surprised? From what I saw before I had my game, that was just the atmosphere in that stadium. Maybe he should have been more "the niners played tough, what a worthy opponent", sure, but hey, at least he wasn't dropping f bombs all over creation! Looking forward to the Super Bowl. Which I also have a game during. :/

Awesome. Last night we were playing hockey as the Seattle/San Fran game was on. Every time we were down the side of the ice where you could look up into the bar and see the TV we'd all kinda slow down and yell the scores out. Admittedly, our offense sucked because of it, but hey, good times.

Martin St. Louis has scored all 4 of Tampa Bay's goals against San Jose. The Sharks are winning by one with most of the third to go. Just tuned in.

I've been doing some internet wandering looking for stuff to do on a Saturday night in Toronto after a day at the HHoF for d4rk's bday. Ice skating, drinking, and then this gem...

All this talk makes me want to be a goalie. I'm roughly Enroth sized and can do the splits, does that help? D4rk's pads actually fit me because we have the same length legs. If it ever gets/stays cold enough here I'm hoping to learn some basics on the pond. Pretty awesome reading this thread and picking up some advice on playing.

I keep having this mental image of your mouth looking like one of the gross out realistic scenes from Ren & Stimpy or something. Especially when you said "ingrown toenail in your mouth". Glad it's out and you can feel better now! It's Friday. Not sure I should be going to work with my foul fowl plague, but I have to get some files figured out. Then when everyone stops working early to party, I'm going home, drawing a hot bath with lavender, and glutting on Twin Peaks on Netflix.

Update. These lovely chalky horse pills pretty much give me the stomach flu. I'm really wishing I hadn't eaten such a nice big lunch. The cure is worse than the itching.

Mine seem to avoid geographical areas as well. They won't go below the knees and are avoiding the neck up. And the tender lovely lady bits, thank god. But my arms, thighs, stomach and some of my back are a war zone right now. Bee-zarre.

Interesting. My sister had chicken pox twice- the second time was horrible- it was internal as well as external. My parents assumed it was because her immune system had been compromised by cancer and a couple years of chemo. Shingles twice though... that's just evil. Even if it was mild.
