:P smoke 'em if you got 'em. new team motto. -
It's sunny and beautiful out. Ok, it's cold as a penguin's nethers and the walk to my car at night is like crossing the Antarctic tundra/scaling K2, but at least it's not cloudy and gross. And the work week is almost over. And beer exists. So does wine. And chocolate. Trying to be positive- I got all my cruddy news this morning, too late for the complaint thursday thread.

I like the way you think. No, they wanted a wheelchair. Which is significantly tougher to draw then some snazzy stumps.

As an artist, can confirm. Directions from former client were once "be sure to include multiple different ethnicities, both genders, but nothing too stereotypical and an equal representation, a disability, and be sure the people represented are not all too "elite" and more "average joe". All of this in a composition that had 3 people. It was an epic undertaking. (sorry, had to, "epic" this and that is one of my pet peeves too) Pretty sure the end result was more offensive than my original sketch of 3 nondescript people talking in an office environment. Luckily was never published, and I half assed it at that point.

Thank you for that, I just spit water all over my desk.

It just snowballs. I got some kind of stomach flu over christmas and I haven't been well since. D4rk keeps getting man colds. Even our mildly mentally deficient cat sneezes uncontrollably all the time. It's exhausting.

I was initially super duper skeptical, but with every trailer that comes out, it just looks like it's going to be a lot of fun to see. Art team/vfx people with the smackdown. I'm excited.

I don't know, I watched team Sweden look downright devastated on the podium after losing to Canada. Lots of staring at feet, very few smiles, not a lot of eye contact with the medal presenters. I remember some chapter in a psych book back in college that used medaling in the Olympics as an example of how you process happiness with effort and outcome. Bronze medalists are happier than silver medalists. They're thrilled to have made the podium. Silver is just so close to gold that it feels like failure, combined with the guilt of feeling bad when someone who did worse than you (bronze) appears so much more grateful. And for the women, many people have touched on how it was basically US v Can and the rest of the world battles for bronze. There was no way either of those teams would earn anything less than silver, barring a major upset. So for them, it was do or die, this is it, 4 years until people will care about our sport/see us in the spotlight again. And such a way to go. I'd be more likely to be sobbing well after the event than directly- as it really begins to hit home what just happened. They cry, get it out of their systems, buck up, and suit up for the next 4 years. That silver medal was a badge of failure to many of those women, despite being the Silver Medal. I think if the men's tourney had been the same level of competition (two teams to speak of, the rest much worse), there'd be some teary eyed silver medalists. Kane was half crying the whole US- Finland game, before they were even losing. But we understand for him- no gold or silver, go ahead and cry, Kane. Women crying? Ungrateful ######.

There's a bakery in the building my office is in here in Pittsford. We often pop down there for lunch or coffee when it's nasty out. I was ordering, and a nice looking gent in a peacoat was at the register next to me. I thought he looked familiar, but being me, was too busy staring at my feet to really get a good look. I took my number and was in the waiting area with my coworkers when I turned around and, yep, Marcus Foligno. I gave him a deer in headlights stare, he gave me a big smile because I must've looked hilarious. I said "Hey, great game Saturday!" (Amerks game. They'd lost in overtime, but he'd had a goal) He was very gracious, thanked me and when I left with my food told me to have a great day. My coworkers had no clue/didn't care who he was, and my friends were mad I didn't get a picture with him or something. I just didn't want to bother him, dude wanted a cookie and a cup of coffee, not another goofy fangirl drooling on him! Only other celebrity encounters for me were all on one trip- my dad was working in Tokyo and let's just say the trip to get there was a travel nightmare. We had first class tickets (his company paid- very lucky) and were flying out Christmas eve out of Detroit to Atlanta, from there to Japan. Flight sat on tarmac for 7+ hours- passengers were about to kill a crying baby in the back... and everyone in first class were really tall black guys on phones having legal conversations. I was sitting next to a smaller older white dude. Turns out it was the Detroit Pistons, my seat buddy was the coach, and the infamous basketbrawl with Artest and the Pacers had just happened. Missed our connection to Tokyo, spent the night in Atlanta, I had a sudden touch of stomach flu, finally got on the plane to Japan. My mum and I were not seated next to each other. This little japanese guy in a nice suitcoat immediately gave up his seat so we could be together. I didn't think much of him, until he took us with him through customs/etc. at Tokyo-Narita. We were exhausted and confused, but everywhere this guy went, everything absolutely stopped and we were waived through. Saw him on the tv later... head of Toyota at the time, Fujio Cho. What a wonderful guy.

Agreed. I was riveted through the women's game yesterday. This one was a bit tougher to be attentive to.
-
If I learned anything from yesterday, who scores the first goal doesn't necessarily mean a damn thing.

There is so much poop in this photo.

.... I've got the blues...... mm cheesy.

Ski Cross. Fecking. Awesome.

Hopefully Canada's men's team will get a little too into their celebrations and be a bit worse for wear tomorrow...

It's a gold for Women's hockey. It's a gold for women who love sports and play sports. I admit, I'm disappointed- I thought USA was dominant throughout the game. But that's the way the puck bounces. I'm just happy to see women's hockey getting the spotlight, if only for a few hours.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh holy ######. I'm gonna go barf somewhere. Now THIS is a gold medal final.

Knight's a boss. She just doesn't care. Opposition? Meh. I'm going through it. Canada really coming on strong. Their zone possession is making me nervous.

I heard them discussing how "looks like she's going for the hot pocket back there" in reference to the area better known as the office.... Oh man, I love British people. Also, they're not lines, they're units. Also... America draws first blood! Not sure if we're using this as a GDT since one doesn't exist.... Sorry for the spoiler.

Hadn't thought much of them until I saw them open for the Black Keys in Toronto. Lead singer was in a leather jacket and ripped riot tank with slicked back greaser hair. And damn were they good live. I'd gotten floor tix and was feet away. He was really into an iggy pop cover and I swear I was in love. I've enjoyed their music a lot more since that performance. Definitely something lost in the recording, though. Such energy in those guys. Gritty little band.
