Great screen by Reinhart there

I've loved Evander Kane so far, but he definitely needs to start looking to do a little more than just shooting when he has the puck.

So the death of scoring has continued early on this season... I know it's super early (one week in) but here's a comparison to last year's pace: This year: 260 goals in 49 games which translates to 5.3 goals per game. Last year: 295 goals in 50 games which translates to 5.9 goals per game. Sigh.

Carl Paladino just went on Fox News to call on Donald Trump to make him his VP. He even had bumper stickers made. Lord Stanley save us. Scratch that... Carl insists he was joking.

Revisiting one burning question about Terry — why did he buy the Sabres?
Hoss replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
Correct. He owns two professional sports teams. -
It's already been said, but this song works so well in person. That place goes bananas. You forget about hockey and just have a blast whenever the team scores.

They said it's coming this week (the update with Eichel).

I'm feeling pretty confident at this point. :) So many were guessing and almost demanding that McCabe be down on the farm for another year. He went down after game one but came back up for game three and looked very good. We'll see if he sticks for the entire month.

This game was a blast... Maybe my favorite Sabres game I've ever attended. Started the day off at (716) which I know is going to sound too mainstream for many but that place just has a great feel and solid food for a low price. While sitting at lunch I got contacted by the Sabres letting me know I had won ropeline passes which was definitely a cool experience in the first intermission (Pysyk was the only one to say anything to the fans and made sure to fist bump everybody). Others like Larsson and Zemgus just fist bumped everybody but didn't say anything. Really cool to see them get ready to get on the ice and pump each other up. The lady was most excited about seeing Evander Kane but I'm not sure exactly why (just kidding). The Eichel and O'Reilly goals were right in front of us and we had the perfect angle to see them go in. I just kept yelling "wow what a goal" after the Eichel goal. It was better than it seemed. Overall the effort was great. Some individual reviews: - Eichel is everything we want and more, but you already know that. Every time I think he might be holding the puck too long or trying to do too much with it something impressive happens. Hasn't made a huge physical impact off the puck yet but he's willing to battle. The hits will follow. - O'Reilly was great yesterday. That shot was perfect. The angle we had was basically a perfect line from the puck to the net on that one and I didn't notice how open the net was until he shot it. Bob didn't even budge. Really looking forward to his role on this team. - Risto made another bad play behind his net but otherwise was very solid. He seemed to be having so much fun out there. - Pysyk may be our most reliable defender. I don't think the kid can make a mistake. So smooth and calm with the puck no matter who is around him. It's almost like he just blocks out the other team and makes the play he would make in practice without defenders. I'm glad he's finally here to stay. - Reinhart made one or two nice plays later in the game but overall he was the only real negative yesterday. Does he have weak wrists or something? Every time he needs to make a play it comes off his stick weaker than it should. He's also not very precise when he plays having missed a few easy plays because he was off by a foot or more. - Larsson should be on this team now and forever. He's sneaky physical and seems to always be able to make something happen (whether it be a nice hit, overworking somebody on the boards, a nice pass or finding the open space for a shot). - Kane is another player I have been satisfied with so far, but I worry about him getting frustrated or discouraged if he slips into a funk. Obviously his first goal was wiped off the board and I wonder what that may have done to him mentally. - Franson has gotten a little better moving around the ice. I wasn't very confident in any part of his game in the preseason and first two games aside from his shot but he looked more comfortable yesterday. - Moulson's pass on that O'Reilly goal is the type of stuff you see broken down on NHLN/TSN. The Red Wings make nice passes like that all the time, so it was nice to see us finally doing it. Beautiful play. I didn't like seeing Moulson trying to carry the puck up the ice on the power play, though. I'd like them to keep him off the puck as much as possible if it isn't around the net.

It's the same. It works when the distance is about an hour, but when the distance becomes seven hours it's impossible. I'd marry this woman if this weren't the case, and I believe she feels the same.

Four years plus residency. After med school it would be much easier but I don't think it's fair to expect anybody to go 5-6 years without seeing somebody and then immediately feeling the same when you see each other again (her parents would probably murder me if they knew she was still with me/they saw me).

Long story. Not voluntary by any means. Religion, race and culture of the parents being valued over the desires of the now-adult daughter. When you've been raised in it and they've got the only resources to support you in med school you've got no choice but to kneel to their demands. I've considered everything from knocking on her father's door and head to attempting to support her through my own means... Unfortunately I don't have the means to do it. Undergrad graduation coming up means it will no longer be a reasonable trip to and from for visiting.

Just bought tickets for tomorrow's game. Going to be in row three because the girlfriend wanted to sit up close near the players' benches. Can't wait to see Jack Eichel in a regular season game for the first time. The lady is no sports fans but she loved her first Sabres game and can't wait to go again even though it will, unfortunately, be her last and our last sporting event as a couple. We'll enjoy the heck out of it. Really can't wait.

And there are AHL duds that look like studs in the NHL. Nobody was comparing NHL to AHL shooters. Also, the wording of "he can do the same thing in Buffalo" was misleading. I meant that he can play heavy minutes in Buffalo if he can do it in Rochester coming off the injury. Whether or not he can do it well is up for debate, but I think we'll find out at some point during Lehner's time off.

I don't think coming off an injury means anything. If he's playing in Rochester and being asked to make 38 saves he can do the same thing in Buffalo. There's no fear of "rushing" here because I think goalies are entirely different. They're going to get the minutes regardless of the AHL vs NHL.

6-10 weeks is less than I expected. I'm fine riding out Johnson and Ullmark. Give Ullmark another week in ROC and then see what he can do.

This. The team had some great energy in game two but if the losing continues at a fast pace this team will be playing dead and developing bad habits now that they have talent.
-
This team's social media is atrocious. I don't need these pictures of just Jack Eichel meeting kids after every game... It doesn't make me feel good or really do anything for anybody. Zero personality. All PR and mush.
-
The way this board is talking right now you wouldn't think this is a 0-0 game where the Sabres have kept up and even controlled play at times. Yikes. Kane sucks, O'Reilly sucks, can't get shot or score goals.
-
Reinhart getting some time on the power play there. Won the draw clean.
-
Rick off to another rough start with McGinn becoming McNabb. Team has a lot of energy to start.
-
Thanks for this!

Interesting from Vogl: No simulcast for Sabres today. Jeanneret and Ray on TV, with Dunleavy and Peters on radio.

Avs officially reveal thirds, and they're amazing: https://twitter.com/Avalanche/status/652537542445678592
