  1. Evander Kane is one of my favorite players in the league. He plays hard as hell on the ice with a ton of skill and off it he is an actual human being. He isn't getting busted for anything illegal and just has fun his way. That's respectable and rare. I'm uninterested in opinions that state the guy should be generic like the rest off the ice. He's passionate and successful. Good on him.
  2. Doug Whaley likely being gone also makes it a lot more likely this team targets a QB this offseason. A new GM, despite what he may like from Taylor so far, isn't going to hedge their bets on a guy with potential injury issues and still big question marks. Even if Taylor has a successful return can anybody really say without a doubt he won't end up just like Kaepernick or the other several run-first QBs who had success early but struggled once the defenses schemed for them? I am with freeman and the contract note is important. I don't see any way they extend him. Yeap. You could break down some of those sins into others. The McCoy situation was: -Valuing the running back position by trading a young asset for one -Compounding it by extending his contract The handling of the QB position has been inexcusable. Other GMs here (and in other cities) have made similar mistakes and not gotten passes for it. Whaley shouldn't. His time here is just about done unless something big changes between now and the ened of the season.
  3. All I got at Bonas was a magical run through the A-10 championship and a trip to the tournament where we SHOULD'VE shocked the world but got screwed. What a ride that was. Best few weeks of my life. Thanks to a few rich donors a bus ride to Southern Kentucky, a nice hotel for the night, a ticket to two NCAA Tournament games (the Texas-Cincy game and the Bonas-Florida State game) and a bus ride back all cost $25. I spent probably double that for alcohol that week.
  4. Yea, I think my original thinking was wrong on this one. Cool note: the Bills were part of the first-ever HD NFL game and the first-ever widely streamed NFL game.
  5. If the league and Yahoo wants to show advertisers they should pay a ton for streaming they're not going to go out of their way to make it two teams nobody outside of the home market watches.
  6. Probably mostly because it was a 9:30 am game.
  7. That's freaking awesome and even he knows it.
  8. Feel free to follow the links within the article, too. http://deadspin.com/anti-gay-bigot-torii-hunter-calls-reporter-prick-four-1666585947 He also tweeted out a defense of Floyd Mayweather saying that what he does in the ring is Torii's business but what he does out of it is nobody's business. So, by Torii Hunter's standards, a man beating a woman is nobody's business but a man doing the horizontal mamba with another man is everybody's business.
  9. Thank the lord Torii Hunter finally retired. Scumbag. Sadly, he has said he'll be getting more involved in politics post-retirement.
  10. The Lions just named Jim Bob Cooter their offensive coordinator. That's... Offensive.
  11. Huh? USC - Utah. UCLA - CAL. Tennessee - Alabama. Duke - Virgina Tech. Texas A&M - Ole Miss. And most importantly Georgia Tech - Florida St. All featured ranked teams. 3 Utah, 9 Florida State, 20 Cal, 15 A&M all lost. Florida State - Georgia Tech featured one of the craziest/most unlikely final plays ever.
  12. Evander Kane reveals he demanded a trade... http://bit.ly/1XucBbD Every offseason in Winnipeg.
  13. I'm not going to rehash the stats again, but I disagree. Tannehill's play absolutely has warranted respect. If the Bills QB had done the exact same thing as Tannehill I think we'd all be pretty excited. There's definite reason for worry there as far as consistency goes, but he's shown full capability for a guy who hasn't been a QB for very long.
  14. Ask and you shall receive: Basically the diagonal angle from above doesn't give them anything conclusive when it's that close. If the puck is off the ice you'll see a bit of white because it isn't laying flat on the ice. IT'S TIME FOR GOAL LINE TECHNOLOGY AND CHIPS IN THE PUCKS. Thank you.
  15. My "thing" with Ryan Tannehill is that he's not the disaster this board and Bills fans want to think he is. He was also more than above average prior to this season, to me. He's set Dolphins records (most consecutive passes without an interception) and NFL records (most consecutive passes without an incompletion). I think Ryan Tannehill is "very good," not "above average." I think my radar is way off because of how I've evaluated QBs (specifically the Bills) for a while. "Above average" to me doesn't say much, but it seems to say a lot to others. It's been a while, but it doesn't mean it can't happen. Especially if you're looking at a team like Jacksonville that has a QB and has drafted high for a long time. Eventually they might want to use the pick to acquire a later pick plus some legit veterans to kick start their team. The most recent I can remember is the Jets moving up for Mark Sanchez. They gave up 17, a second and three NFL players. We could dangle guys like Leodis McKelvin, Jerry Hughes and a few others depending on what we do in free agency.
  16. There's also "enough" talent to get a worthwhile draft pick (via trade, that is).
  17. This coming week is one of the rare weeks in college football where there aren't really any good matchups. There's one game of ranked teams playing each other (Notre Dame vs Temple). But I disagree with eleven about the good teams rarely playing each other.
  18. Well said. I am giving this team two seasons of "free passes" as far as wins and losses go. I want to see progress. Inidividually I'm still willing to get out the pitchforks for guys that flat out underperform or hold the team back. If they start winning then that will likely change and my expectations will rise. But I'm thinking Murray and Bylsma both deserve two full seasons before their performance begins to be questioned.
  19. Reminder: the NHL doesn't allow diagonal angles for goal reviews in situations like that. The "parallax angle" comes into play. With that said: it was a goal. The ref actually called it a goal initially but then skated over towards the reply booth and said he "wasn't sure" so it was no goal on the ice. Review didn't have good angles. There's a photo of the puck completely over the line but no way for the refs to have a photographers photo during the replay.
  20. Sabres tweet: Coach Byslma says Evander Kane has an MCL injury; he'll be out 4-6 weeks.
  21. WTF: #Sabres lines at practice: 44-90-63 22-15-23 26-28-12 59-17-82-88 Kane not on ice.
  22. Above average isn't what this team or any team in this league needs. He will be a part of the conversation at QB next year, but this team needs to figure out the QB position above all else. I'm going O-line heavy in free agency and with other picks. Tyrod was a late pick for a reason. He's got a shot to shock the world, but it's highly unlikely. Let's see what he does for the rest of the season. A partial season of above average is something we've seen before (Kyle Orton and Ryan Fitzpatrick performed above average for a few games very recently). It's not enough to think we're settled at the position. We've foolishly thought that too many times before.
  23. As many pointed out when you said this: most (like 9/10) cup champs drafted in the top five within a few years of winning the cup. Those aren't all "tanks" but they went down a similar path.
  24. Tyrod has looked above average so far but, like Ink said, the Titans game is the type of game a good QB can't have. He saved us with his legs late but I don't want to be relying on my QBs legs much (it's the reason he got hurt). Unless Tyrod comes out looking like Drew Brees in the pocket I think this team is in that must draft a QB in the first spot again. Which is good this year because there are some top-tier QBs. Issue is there's a ton of teams looking for one: Washington, Chicago, Cleveland, San Fran, Houston and us. Most of those teams will probably end up drafting before us so it's time to make a huge trade up if the circumstance is right.
  25. High risk, high reward. Youngest kid in the draft. Still has time.
