  1. What if they all accept and we can't trade them?
  2. Meet the new team Same as the old team Who said we won't get fooled again.
  3. It all depends on the skill of the surgeon.
  4. Vancouver gets: Bogo and an orthopedic surgeon Sabres get: 3rd round pick.
  5. We should have an OT thread for cars. Bought my wife a 2000 Jeep Wrangler in 2000. Nineteen years later, there's only 12k miles on it. Still all original including tires. We change the oil once every 2 years whether it needs it or not. The mechanics always do a double take when they record the mileage. Needless to say, I do almost all the driving.
  6. Eating Pistacho nuts. They are more addictive than crack (or so I've heard ? ).
  7. Where do we slot Kulikov and Benoit (balls) in that lineup?
  8. Didn't even recognize Dahlin. I assume that he's on Mitt's right. Sure looks more "manly". Hopefully he can play stronger this year.
  9. I get it Wild and you make valid points. I'm relying more on what I see, not analytics. I just think McCabe (to the current make up of the Sabres) is more valuable than to move up 4 spots to take a shot at a prospect that is not a sure thing. Some could make the argument that Mitch Marner is a better player than Jack Eichel even though he was selected 2 spots later. It's a crap shoot and not worth trading McCabe to move up 4 picks in my opinion.
  10. The way teams target him, hopefully he won't expire before his deal does. There will be a lot of miles on that body at 37. But, good for him and his family, and glad he's in the western conference.
  11. ppg is a bad comparable for McCabe. All Star Bill Hajt's ppg was .28. 4 time all star Mike Ramsey's ppg was .32. That's a better comp since that's more his game (sound defense and PK).
  12. As Sean McDermott says. "Don't talk to me about potential. I don't like that term."
  13. I disagree that he is sub-par. And injuries happen. Ask Chara. Do we need more over hyped prospects that turn into rejects (Fasching, Girgensons, Bailey, Baptiste, etc.)?
  14. I would not. Is Turcotte (I assume that would be the choice) that much more certain to be an NHL star than #4 thru #7? Scandella sure. Again, the devaluation of McCabe is unwarranted. We need more like him. Who's tougher, hits more, plays with passion more than McCabe??
  15. Not wild about trading McCabe but I understand why he's talked about. What other assets does Jbot have not named, Jack, Jeff or Rasmus D.
  16. The writer of that article thinks more of McCabe than many on this board. McCabe is not the problem, he is part of the solution. The guy is a warrior.
  17. The wait to hire him (after they talked to others) sure must make Eakins feel real good.
  18. 2nd round seems about right to me. Some of the rumors to get Zucker are Nylander and our pick #32 That would equate to a late first and a second for Zucker. Seems about right.
  19. The fact is nobody, including many GM's, don't know what to expect regarding Nylander. He could blossom or remain stagnant this year. If he flops, his value next year will be little. I'd be in for trading him now while he still has perceived value. In fact his value in a trade may never be higher than it is now. I've seen too many Prospect to Suspect to Reject progressions over the years.
  20. So I can assume that trading for Cal Petersen is out of the question as well. ?
  21. June 15. 1st Buyout Period starts. That can't be correct. It's the 15th and Sobotka's still on the team.
  22. I'm a Pommer fan but I also think it's time to move on. Pommer being the team's 4th leading goal scorer last year says more about how much we need to improve the depth scoring than Pommer's skill level at this point. He was a good Sabre, had his going away moment last year, and is a class act. However, it's time for JBOT to use his head over his heart.
  23. I think there is a way to keep our youngins'. JBOT must have a plan for this. But I am intrigued what the return would be for a Risto and Samson as a combination trade.
  24. Agree. Now this is not proven by any evidence that I researched, but it seems that smaller guys (e.g. Gionta, Fleury, St. Louis) lose a step less quickly as they age than bigger guys. I know they generously list Skinner at 5' 11' 187 but that must be soakin' wet. Hope that holds true here and he performs at the end of his career.
  25. I'm with you on Scandella, Hunwick and Ristolainen, but McCabe is a warrior and we need more of that IMO. Very good 3D guy that can step up to a 2D pair if necessary.
