I'm sorry, I thought this was the Elie thread, not the Sobotka thread?
-
I'm ok with that providing the $2.2 million we save keeping Nelson over McCabe is used to get more talent and not just sitting idle.
-
Tyler Myers got $6 mil. Is Myers 600k more valuable? Trouba got $8 million? What would Risto get if he was a UFA? The market says he's worth at least his $ 5.4.
-
Most agree that Risto is a second pair guy, a number 3 at $5.4 Mil. Jake can play number 4 at only $2.65?
-
I'm at $3 mil. Again, Zadorov is getting $3.2 and played 11 more games than McCabe and had the same amount of points. It's the going rate.
-
Yeah, you're probably right. I was looking at it from a draft capital point of view. Trading any of Larry, Girgs, Wilson, Elie, Scandella, E-Rod, etc are not going to get us better than a 4th rounder. Risto would. No team will trade a 1 for Risto, that's why I pitched a 2 and a 3. I think JBOT wants to get his 3 rounders back (or better) somehow.
-
JBOT traded away some draft capital to get Miller and Vesey. A 2nd (STL) and a 3rd in 2021. JBOT loves him some draft capital.. If we can't get a 2C for Risto, do you think any team would trade a 2nd and a 3 for Risto. Obviously, they would need the cap space. Then JBOT could sign Gardiner for Risto money. That would net us Gardiner, a 2nd and a 3rd for Risto. Realistic?
-
I think so. If Risto is a second pair D-man at $5.4 mill, a solid 3rd pair guy with experience and leadership (College team captain and I believe with Housley in the U20 tournament), and can move up to second pair for a brief stint is worth $ 3 mil in today's NHL. Zadorov is at $ 3.2.
-
I think they do. JBOT always says you develop and re-sign your own. $3 mil is fair IMO.

What is awesome?? Being alive. Retired. Good health. No money worries. Loving wife. Sitting on the balcony watching a light rain with a beer posting on Sabrespace. My dad said you need 3 things to be happy: 1. Health - Without health, nothing else matters. 2. Time - Time to enjoy life, wife, kids, wine, golf, whatever is your passion. 3. Money - Not millions and millions, but enough to be comfortable. Thanks, Dad. I miss him.

Meet in the middle at $3 mil? Seems right.

I'm 57. I haven't been to a doctor in 30 years. I feel pretty good minus a few aches and pains (nothing WebMD says I should be really concerned with). I've been living the Atkins diet lifestyle for 20 years (well before it got the sexy term of Keto). The health insurance industry has made a ton of money off me for the last 30 years. However, if I suddenly stop posting, you'll know what happened. ?

JBOT doing a good job on the business side this summer. Now he needs to finish his job on the hockey side. My guess is that he signs Gardiner, trades Risto, and ships out 2 of (Larry, Girgs, Wilson, Hunwick, Nelson) for draft picks. I didn't mention Sobotka because the Sabres already have enough pucks.
-
Yep, sorry. I call Ristolainen, Risto and Dahlin, Rasmus.

Anybody have the FIXD plugin sensor? (www.fixdapp.com) If so, does it work and is it worth the money?
-
Maybe they should add the "dick on the ice" factor to the annual NHL Combine. The WonderDick test.
-
Can't disagree. I can see his name being thrown into Risto trade negotiations to try to get JBOT to agree to a lesser prospect though.
-
I think it has to hurt Risto's value. I think Risto is better than Shattenkirk but now a team will not have to give up an asset to acquire him (only cash and cap). And since Shattenkirk will be getting paid about $1.5 million from the Rangers, whatever team that signs him MAY get him at a discount.
-
Yikes. What is Rasmus going to cost in a couple years?
-
One thing is clear, JBOT is not rewarding poor performance. Who knows what the arbitrator will give, but JBOT is holding the line on Larry, Girgs, E-ROD and now Linus. Good for him. As this rate, Remi Elie may have to pay the Sabres to play.

I know athletes file taxes not only in their home state but also in every state—and some cities—in which they play. However, since Callahan is not actually playing, I'm not sure. I assume an insurance company is paying his salary on LTIR. Interesting question.

Quite the rant. I thought most owners had enough money to last 10 lifetimes and buy teams because they love the game and want the excitement of being involved. Sounds like the Sens owner needs this business to break even just to pay his bills. Gives me more comfort in the Pegula "I'll dig another well" comment.

You are a sage Taro, and we all can learn. I thank you. Written words without the verbal cues can lead to unintended consequences. We're back to hockey!

Your use of "people" is offensive and overgeneralizing. I'm not people, I'm one guy. There are influential current individuals today that use the term "people" so much it will make your head spin.
