I give a crap. Because you CAN get away with it, doesn't mean you should TRY to get away with it. Why promote others to sellout their integrity for a hockey game? There is no greater sin than to tempt an honest man.

2 and 9. Not favorites but that's always what I got From squirt through high school. Didn't really care what number I got. Seems strange to me to be so attached to a number. As long as I got to play, I didn't care.

I don't see "illegal" streaming as a political issue at all. It's about humanity, honesty and personal integrity and how somehow it's seems ok now to steal from a corporation. If I drop my wallet in line at Wegmans, 100% of the time the person behind me will say, "Hey guy, you dropped your wallet" and give it back to me. Now if a Brinks truck overturns on a highway and money spills out, people are tripping over themselves to get a handful of cash. What makes that cash fair game to steal? Again, if I drop my wallet at Wegmans, would the guy behind me say, "Too bad buddy, it hit the floor therefore it's fair game?" Because you have an opportunity to steal does not make it ok to steal. Sure, I'd rather get NHL.TV for free, but that's not right. I enjoy the entertainment of watching the Sabres and it's worth it to me to pay for it. I'm sorry for the holier-than-thou lecture, but in this case, society is much like golf. We have to govern ourselves and hold ourselves accountable to the rules. We can't look our kids in the eyes and say stealing is bad, unless of course it's MSG who makes enough money, so therefore it's ok and we're within our rights to cheat them and get it for free. As the saying goes, “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”

Yep. Looks like Rasmus has grown from a kid to a man in one year. Should be exciting to watch this year.

I thought once Hyman was broken, there was no fixing that. <Hey, give me a break, I'm preparing for the regular season just like everyone else.>
-
I was thinking of Sobotka as well, but then I remembered this thread was for the SABRES first goal, not the AMERKS first goal.
-
My birthday present from my wife. The company says they will be making a Sabres acoustic in the future.

Isn't the theft of intellectual property/copyright protections one of the main reasons we are in a trade war with China? I believe the vast majority of the members of this board are ethical. NHL.TV is $116 for the season. That's like a buck fifty a game when you factor out the NBCSN games. Surely, our ethics can't be compromised for $116 a year. Right is right, wrong is wrong. Sorry, I guess I have a stick up my ass.

Crap. Is it complaint Thursday already.

Cole is going to be fine. But a great veteran move as an example for the young guys.

I'm sorry to hijack the thread but in all fairness, @Doohickie started it. ?

But you do. If the market tanks in your first 5 years and you lose say 20%, you still are taking $90k out per year of your retirement account to live. That earning power is lost forever. It's not linear. There's a great book by Jim Otar that proves luck and timing are the greatest influences to the safety of one's retirement. http://retirementoptimizer.com/ I wish I had $5 mil at 57 to invest.?
-
The money is banked, but you earn interest which is taxable, and if you invest it (not in an IRA or 401(k), capital gains taxes may apply. If in an IRA you pay taxes up front (Roth) or on withdrawal (Traditional IRA).

Agree with guaranteed annuities providing you choose the correct insurance company. Law of 72 is a suggestion based on future performance, which cannot be guaranteed. Seriously, what company? I'm interested.
-
Please tell me where I can get a guaranteed 3-4% return today. And again, past performance is not indicative of future results.
-
Correct. I assumed the return on investment equaled the inflation rate. There are no guarantees that the market won't tank. As we all know, past performance Is not Indicative of future results. Many financial "experts" are saying that $2mil won't be enough for folks that retire at 55? I just think to live off $5 mil over 55 years is worrisome. But, it's a great worry to have!!
-
Not rich, but a good head start. If he lives to 85, that $5 mil has to last him 55 years. That's about $90k per year ($80k or so after taxes). If he wants to work, he may have to go to college or a trade school which costs money. Kids education, health care, weddings, etc. needs to be factored in. SS will not be much if he doesn't keep working since he will only have 5-7 years of creditable work. Now many can do it on $90k, but I don't think he'd be calling himself rich.

I get your point, but I'd be a hypocrite to agree. When I negotiated my salary over the years, I didn't give a rat's a$$ about my soon-to-be colleagues, or the company for that matter.
-
That was a very disappointing and embarrassing display. I continue to get fooled that we are better than this only to be let down time and again. Racism is taught and learned. We can't forget that.

That's the way it usually is (Kessel excepted). -
He should have been given the boot years ago (or should that be shoe).
-
If we're not, I would complain. Therefore, by definition, we're still doing this.

Pierre won't be unemployed for long. Many golf courses are looking for superior ballwashers.

My rental doesn't allow dish installations either. However, I've been able to get the streaming version of NFL Sunday Ticket for the last three years because my complex address made their "eligibility" list. If you haven't already checked, might be worth a shot. https://nflst.directv.com/ 3 years ago the stream was choppy. Last year, it was perfect HD. Cast right from the app to the tv.

Hopes: Our goalies steal 4-5 games. Olofsson and Vesey pack 20 apiece. Mitts shows visible, positive development. Fears: RFK is not up to the task. Boring hockey. An injury to Jack, Sam, Skinner or Dahlin that makes them miss 20+ games. Sobotka does more than take left dot face offs. Expectation: High 80's in points. No playoffs. Progress, honest effort EVERY game. End the season feeling good about the next year.
