Agree. The salary cap is there for a reason. Not using it to your advantage is incompetence. Other GM's shouldnt be pissed. They only have themselves to blame. Oh, maybe that's why they're pissed.

You really think GMTM will tender an RFA? He seems to me to be too much in the "NHL GM Boys Club" to piss off a fellow GM. That would really put GMTM in the ZFG category.

Well stated. Remember the Soviet Red Army team that played the Sabres in 76. Now that was puck possession. However, we creamed them 12-6. I guess the "dump and chase vs. keeping control" debate will continue on for years. Bottom line, a good coach will fit his system to his players, not vice versa.

Got to agree with Bylsma on the chipping in vs. carrying in. As a former defenceman, turning and chasing, and then getting creamed into the boards, is a lot more draining than staring a player in the chest and taking him out of the play.

I get your point. The Sabres have just gone through 2 years of crap hockey to come in last. If we could win just 1 cup (like the Blackhawks), I think the fans of Buffalo could certainly live through several years of "Blackhawk Type" suffering as you suggest. I agree, the Blackhawks will be challenged, but when you have a Cup or two in your back pocket, the challenge is just that, a challenge. I'll take on the challenge of REMAINING great over the challenge of GETTING great any time.

Whether you like Bylsma or not, he is a qualified NHL coach. So we went from: Ruff - Regier (Qualified coach, unqualified GM), to Rolston - Regier (Unqualified coach, unqualified GM), to Nolan - Murray (Unqualified coach, jury still out GM), to Bylsma - Murray (Qualified coach, jury still out GM). Looks like we're better off now than for the last decade and have reason for optimism.

Thanks Weave. Didn't know KCSB was out since 2012. I had never seen it before but I will definitely try it. Maybe it just got to stores in Nebraska ;) .

Favorite player ever. Watched him since 1970. The Sabres used to practice at Tonawanda Rec Center in NT in the mid 70s. Saw him many times at practice. He was quite the prankster in practice. I think if he had more drive to be great and didn't smoke so much, he would have been top 5 great. Best skater I ever saw. He could go 10 feet laterally and lose no speed, or the puck. Can't even think of a player since that compares to him.

Yeah, I'm on the fence. I'm not sure about GMTM, though. And, for what's it's worth, this is the best time to move him for value. The Sabres know more about Zadorov than any other club. Move him now at high value on potential. If he turns into a Norris Trophy worthy D-man, we lose. If he never grows up, and he helps us get ROR, or someone similar, we win big. Grit alone, I agree. But Carlo is more than grit alone.

I think Zadorov will be moved at the draft. Weber will not be re-signed after next year. Gorges is getting older and who knows about his knee. That leaves the cupboard pretty bare for Carlo to step in.

Agree 100%. And he's a nasty SOB as well. If we're going with Chad and Pysyk, we may need some more nasty (developing in the minors).

I don't think Babcock is going anywhere, and I don't think he wants to leave. He's smart and is creating leverage to demand more money and power from the wings. Smart play but I don't think the Sabres or any other team, is really in the running to get him.
