  1. Smart man, that LGR. I would say the same theory applies to Samson.
  2. I like it except for Reinhart/Gionta. I'm for letting Reinhart go to center and learn the NHL. Not sure what to do with Larsson. Not sure he fits here anymore. And I question why there is little value for Legwand on the 4th line. I think it's a great fit for a year.
  3. Maybe time for GMTM to throw a dart at a 6'5" Swedish goalie.
  4. Whatever happens in the top 3, that's a good 4th line.
  5. I get it. But besides Seabrook, no other Hawk D-Man is a big hitter and they won it. Exciting yes, a winning d-man, not necessarily.
  6. Still not sure what they are thinking. I think they over reacted to the cap constraints. Lucic I get, Hamilton I don't. If it's a rebuild, you start with Hamilton.
  7. Well put. I think GMTM did a good job selling high. I think the myth of Zadorov will be greater than the actual.
  8. I could see Legwand serving as a Mike Grier type veteran. We will have a lot of kids playing.
  9. This scares me. GMTM has got to pick up at least one veteran D-Man. Oduya??
  10. I think it's pretty clear from the comments that DDB and GMTM made that they will not bring in a veteran if they have to give up an A prospect to do so. I think a guy like ROR is as far as they will go in having to give up an A prospect (and other assets). We have a veteran presence with Gorges, Moulson, Gionta and CMac. We're not a playoff team in 15-16, so why mortgage the future. Frankly, I'd go the free agent route for a goalie (2-3 year deal). Next 2-3 years is about changing the culture, developing the prospects, and becoming entertaining again. Stay the course and maybe we get lucky next year with the new draft lottery system.
  11. I have no problem with it either. Many great athletes were jackasses when they were young (Jim Kelly comes to mind). Some remained jackasses as they aged (Tiger Woods), though he may no longer be great anymore. I heard stories about Drury being an ass when he was here. As long as they back up the talk, count me in.
  12. Oh crap, now I'm too old to realize sarcasm.
  13. Actually JJ, I was going for the Prince song reference of "Partying Like it's 1999" not referring to the Sabres "loss" (no goal) to the Stars. I forget how old I am sometimes and references don't always translate.
  14. I'm not tortued either. I really enjoy hockey and really enjoy Buffalo (even though I don't live there now, but am trying to get back). We may get a cup in the future, and that would be great. The fun is all about the journey. I will support the Sabres in sickness and in health. It's MY team and I'm all in. We may never win it, and that's OK. If we do, I will celebrate like it's 1999. We are bound to a city with Wide Right and No Goal. We know it and are great citizens and friends and neighbors because of it. It has made us a great city and that's enough. I look forward to every year when we put the drought to and end, but if it never happens, so be it. We have great people, a great community, the best wings on the planet, that's good by me. Living in Buffalo, yes a Cup or a Super Bowl would be great, but that's just piling on. Living in the best place in the free world is satisfction enough. I win either way.
  15. Thanks. I'm impatient. At least we'll know either way by the 30th of this month.
  16. Is the buy out decision date for Hodgson's reduced cap hit (1/3 vs 2/3) June 30, 2015. GMTM can't wait till September to make the reduced buy out decision, correct?
  17. I'm OK with that philosophy. Then trade him now when others think he has value. Never regret trading too soon, always regret trading too late.
  18. Agreed. Cody had his chance and will be fine financially. Move on and save the cap space for when we are contending.
  19. Regarding Kaleta, when he's on, he's good to draw a penalty or two a game. My Buffalo bias is showing but I give him another year. I don't think GMTM will.
  20. Bill Hajt?
  21. I'm not sold on Hodgson. I'd trade him before I found out for sure and someone else values him, great. If he lights it up with another team, good for him.
  22. GMTM is comitted to youth. I think any trade/aquisition will have to be a 24 year old or younger player. I wouldn't expect him to bring in anyone older than that.
  23. I’ve been a Sabres fan since 1970. Been on SS for about 2 years (happens to coincide with the worst two years in Sabres history but I don’t think that’s my fault). I really like SS especially the speed at which news gets posted. I go here first thing to see what’s going on in the NHL and Sabres. Never felt intimidated and don’t take disagreements personally. Game day threads are great. There are some really funny people on this board and I always get a good laugh. Remembering back to when I first started, it would have been nice as a new poster to at least get some acknowledgement that you’re alive even if it’s just an “Agree 100%” reply to a post. This doesn’t have to last forever, but it’s a nice welcoming gesture to a new poster.
  24. Well stated X. You have to be from my era. You had to see the guy in action. One step laterally from Gil was 6 feet. He would be amazing today.
  25. While Tim never did make it big, he still made (and continues to make) a living playing a game he enjoys. Maybe he socked away enough to afford him some time to determine what he wants to do next in life. Good luck and Godspeed.
