    Agree. That's why battleground states are so vital to win (see Florida, Ohio, Colorado). A thousand popular votes either way can give you 30+ electoral votes.

    We have the technology now to go directly to the people. That didn't exist in the Founding Fathers days. That's why they set the system up as they did with the House and Senate and the Electoral College. Now, we could go to more public referendums, majority rules. No Hastert rule, gerrymandering is less constricting, give the people what they want.

    I'm fortunate. I'm 54 and my situation has gotten better each decade. Most politicians ask, "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?" My answer has always been yes. I tend to lean left, but I was just was pleased with W as I was with Clinton or now Obama. My major concern is the hate and gridlock. Just because one administration proposes an idea, it shouldn't be summararily dismissed by the other party. Compromise is dead. I can't blame local congressmen, they are reflecting the views and wishes of their constituents. I'm not sure what can be done. Maybe getting rid of the House and only have the Senate. That should be easy to accomplish ;) .
