  1. You're right. And Luce was JAG before he got with Ramsay and Gare. Those two made Luce look great offensively (defensively and on the PK, Luce was the MAN).
  2. No way they let Bowman go before Quenville. I'm not too fond of Q. Not sure the fit with our youngsters is appropriate. I'd take Bowman though.
  3. And would stand toe-to-toe with Clark Gilles and pound away giving up about 5 inches in height. As fearless of a competitor as the Sabres have ever had.
  4. Welcome Toro. I liked your post. And your civility is refreshing.
  5. Did not know that. He is a possibility for VGK.
  6. Dudley, McIver, Housley. Blend of experience, youth and hunger.
  7. This ^^. And I'm ready to do it now. I dont think Sam's skating will ever be elite and is just average for the NHL. He makes up for it with his IQ. I say we trade for a D-Man before we find out if he is the real deal. If we wait and he is not, all we will have to show for it is a mis-placed 3rd line RW. I think the value in Sam is his upside uncertainty and the next GM will find another GM that will bite. The hated coach in New England does this all the time. People say WTF??? and then it turns out to be the smart move. The risk isn't trading him, the risk is keeping him. We're good down the middle with ROR and Jack (and Larsson/Pu/Girgs).
  8. 1. Gare 2. Mogilny 3. Andreychuck
  9. Sort of off topic. Anyone noticing ANY difference in the size of the goalies after the NHL clamped down on the size of their pads? I lean toward being a purest, but looking at a Ken Dryden from the 70's to today's Michelin Men, the only way to equate the past to today is to widen the net. No way the union will go for less padding so I've shifted to bigger nets. The beauty of a Rick Martin slapshot scoring from 50 feet out needs to return. I say 7 feet by 4 feet for starters.
  10. Thanks. I guess at this point he will remian Brad ##### Park forever.
  11. Flippin NHL can't get anything right :P .
  12. Douchebag: Phaneuf, Marchant, Gudas
  13. If that happens some day, I will officially stop referring to Brad Park as Brad ####### Park.
  14. Bylsmaybe, Murray-no.
  15. And Housley did coach the US team to a Gold Medal at the IIHF World U20 Championship in 2013. Must be able to relate to young players.
  16. I think the Sabres would still have to give permission but I think the league abolished the draft choice compensation thing.
  17. I'd like to see Rick Dudley be the Pesident of Hockey Operations and hire a GM. Not sure we could get Dudley as a GM since that would be a step down from his current role as senior vice president of hockey operations for Montreal. Most teams will let an executive go for a promotion (which going from VP to President would be), but can block executives from going laterally (GM to GM) or downward in Dudley's case. So I think it would be President or nothing.
  18. Got to believe that if the Sabres were in the playoffs this year, GMTM could have been the poster child for "Ribald Weekly Magazine" and still been employed.
  19. Good info on Fenton. However, I would be more comfortable with a VP of Hockey with GM experience (Dudley, Lombardi, etc.) overseeing Fenton than just giving the keys to a first-time GM. Assistant GM is good training, but there is nothing like sitting in the seat for real.
  20. TP says experience is required then this (if true). Does he have a flippin' clue? Seems like he takes the opinion of whoever talks to him last.
  21. I'm with you on your 4 untradeables, Radar. The rest will depend on the next GM. What is our identity? Murray said he wanted big and fast but drafted for skill. Not sure we have much grit on the team now or on the farm. Will the next GM want more Carrier's, more Nylander's or more Bailey's?
  22. Could be, I don't know either. From what I've read, he's ultra-competitive and takes hockey seriously (even in practice). He doesn't shy away from anyone and is pretty scrappy. Plenty of great Finnish/Swedish captains in recent NHL history.
  23. If Kane and D-Lo are gone, who will be the spine of the Sabres if Foligno goes?
  24. Agree with all but #3. I don't think Kane wants to be in small market Buffalo so he will be gone after next year. May as well get something for him now after a good season. I dont think we will be that good next year anyway so Kane's 30 goals will mean little.
  25. Yeah, the term "ribald" struck me as well. That suggests more than just organizational dysfunction.
