Our defense is so mediocre at this point its sad. Weber hanging out in the pressbox for the first 5 games ends up looking like our best defenseman. Sekera has been consistent and i think looked good, but of course gets hurt (although not badly luckily) Regehr looks slow but still solid in his own end but looking like its time to move on after this year Ehrhoff looks good overall but still not getting involved offensively yet like he should be. Leopold at times looks ok but more often than not has been playing like a rookie whos not ready for the nhl Myers much like leopold looks afraid of playing the body and confused in his own end like hes never done this before. Brennan in limited action looks eager to join the rush but has made some bad decisions in his own end. i still have faith w/ him Sulzer looks like the game is a little too fast for him sometimes and makes poor choices, has been just OK overall Look at the guys we have let walk away. They were KEY pieces of a winning team that have not been properly replaced. Tallinder Lydman Drury Briere. this will open up a can of worms but its a valid point when discussing our defense now.

He had some opportunities to bury some chances but for whatever reason couldnt make it happen but my only real issue with him is that i see ZERO foot speed what-so-ever, he just looks slow to me, all the time. To me, its hampering his play making abilities because players are catching him from behind and just breaking plays up. i hope its something that improves. He was the guy that could take any key defensive zone face-off. he was more than a 4th liner/pk guy because of his faceoff ability and presence in front of the opposing goaltender. He was always was a force in front of the net. and do you remember when the line of him kaleta and gerbe were shutting down teams first lines like clock work? thats more than a 4th liner that you play 6-8 mins a game. IMO he's honestly a big part of what were lacking this year. even though his trade was a good move but we need some version of a player like him to be a key piece now.

i'm relieved and happy to say this was the best sabres game i can remember watching for quite some time. Granted the play of myers and leo made me crazy and i really wanted Ruff to sit them both after the 3rd bruins goal. I did notice leopold sometime in the 3rd i think, playing very agitated and aggressive like he really wanted to prove something and getting physical with someone after the play. Not that it makes all his mistakes ok i still want him traded or sat but it was nice to see maybe something Ruff said to him get into his head.

by me saying "its basically our lineup already" i was referring to the lineup i suggested, not what you said. i think its pretty clear kassian and everyone you suggested will never be on a roster together for all reasons you pointed out, common give me a little more credit

i agree on kaleta but having mccormick and scott on a line at least takes up thornton and macdermind and ott can worry about campbell

if thats your "fantasy lineup" great but what i suggested is not far off considering tropp played with those two at times last year and the rest of the guys are all on the roster. they just happen to be hurt i dont see why its that far off. its basically our lineup already :doh:
