  1. I remember watching the Sabres on WGRZ back when I was a little kid growing up and remember watching the random highlight from an old Sabre's game they would always play during one of the commercial breaks...its ingrained into my memories...
  2. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/29/sabres-gm-tim-murray-i-think-too-much-about-mcdavid/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs Guess we know who we are drafting if we get the #1 pick, lol
  3. I think we most of all appreciate GOOD players that are also hard working that end up getting us the result we want, aka wins.
  4. Sabres allow tons of shots, many of which aren't necessarily great chances just a result of the other team being in our zone a lot...this likely inflates our goaltender's numbers quite a bit... Wonder if GM's around the league will start looking at this and not believing our goalies are that good when trading for them in the future
  5. Thank goodness Arizona beat Detroit yesterday to give us a little breathing room even if we beat them tomorrow...that would have been a near disaster...having them close to within 1 point of us... As it stands, they can move clear of us by 7 points with a win against us in regulation, which would just about seal the deal in regards to us finishing in last...
  6. We face Arizona twice in the span of a few days. This will likely play a large role in determining who wins the McEichel sweepstakes... Best case scenario is we lost both in regulation, worst case scenario we win both in regulation. A split would preserve our 3 point cushion, A split with us winning our game in OT and us losing in regulation would extend our lead to 4 points...similarly a loss by us in OT and a win in regulation would reduce our lead to 2 points... Praying for the best case scenario in which it will pretty much be over, with Edmonton holding a 6 point lead and Arizona having a 7 point lead at that point...
  7. Can't, we play Arizona twice next week...
  8. So tired of watching goalies steal us points in games we are getting dominated in... Is there something in the water here that turns anyone who comes to play goal into Superman this season for us? I mean seriously? 45 shots on goal and some career backup stonewalls them the whole game? If we screw this up I will be seriously pissed...no reason to spend most of the season in last place to ruin it at the end for nothing
  9. Suprised we didn't get both NFL and NHL
  10. Likely knew he was desperate to move them and everyone was trying to give up as little as possible..hard to get a fair deal when your back is against the wall to move players
  11. Big difference playing well for the Isles versus playing well for the Sabres facing a live firing squad every night... Surprised Neuvirth doesn't have rubber imprinted into him by now
  12. most likely the case, especially since he played in a game the night before
  13. Neuvirth sucks in the shootout
  14. We had a few black players well before Grier in Tony McKegney and Grant Fuhr to name 2...and that was back when black players were about as represented in the NHL as they are in Akron
  15. Per a report, Lemieux was included because he refused to sign with the Sabres... http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/699212 https://twitter.com/AJonSports/status/565574257066147842
  16. Murray really loves big goalies...Lindback is 6' 6" 210lbs
  17. Sabres really wanted Kane and likely had to overpay a little to entice Winnipeg not to wait til the off-season to trade him. What playoff team wanting Kane is going to trade players off their roster for a guy out for the season? Probably none. Sabres had to force the issue, and ended up slightly overpaying, but if they got their guy I'm OK with it... They likely all but sealed their last place finish as well...
  18. Now if Edmonton could just win a game or two so we can get back in the basement...
  19. This is starting to get to a turning point quickly. The Sabres keep racking up wins and are currently only 4 points out of a playoff spot. That was almost inconceivable when the season started and especially after the first 15 games. Edmonton might not win 10 more games this year. Their goaltending is beyond awful. If the Sabres keep winning they might not be able to tank bad enough the rest of the season no matter how badly they play to have Edmonton pass them. I don't know what the right answer is...the team is playing inspired and clearly believes in themselves to a much greater degree than they did at the start of the season. They are starting to look in some ways similar to Nolan's "Hardest Working Team in Hockey" that made it to the playoffs with Hasek in goal...
  20. Not true, if they finished last they would have been assured one of those 2 players as this year they still could only drop 1 spot if they didn't win the lottery Scouts have now started saying their is almost no difference between the two and some even saying that Eichel might be a better prospect...he has been really impressive in college hockey playing against much older players than McDavid Their plan is doomed to fail because the 76ers roster would lose against some good college teams
  21. Things are not going as planned right now...Sabres have becomes one of the hottest teams in hockey winning 9 of their last 12 games and are one point away from being tied for 22nd in the NHL....far from the last place or 2nd last place team in the league, to cash in on the McDavid/Eichel sweepstakes, and starting to pull away from Carolina and Edmonton both of whom are languishing with 19 points... So what does Murray do? Does he conduct another fire sale to try and get more high round picks for any of the tradeable components left on the roster like Myers, Stafford, Enroth etc? Does he let this season play out the way it is going, with the Sabres now looking like they might actually be able to finish around 9th or 10th worst team in the league, pretty much destroying their chances at getting a franchise type player in McDavid or Eichel, or does he start making the roster worse for the short term for more long term gain. Would the team be better in the long term for learning how to play together and win as a group during this tough season or would they be better losing good players and finishing at the bottom again? Did Murray underestimate the talent level of the current team when he put it together? It looks like they needed to figure out how to play together but since that point they have played very well at times and have beaten some very good teams in the process, not necessarily because they have deserved to win many nights, but because they have gotten some outstanding goaltending, mostly from Enroth...plus the Moulson, Girgensons, Ennis line has become a terror out there... What to do, what to do? This team is going to completely blow up the long term plan for this franchise, kind of like what happened in Major League...GM/owner are trying to lose but the players and coach start learning how to win spoiling their plan... Very interesting to see what Murray does...
  22. WTF is this team doing??? Tim Murray must be swearing up a storm like the owner/GM in Major League...he put together a team that he thought would be last place easily and they are starting to win too many games now...3 straight against 2 of the best teams in the NHL no less...
  23. LOL!! Latvian fans really skewing the voting...Zemgus has 399,356 votes and 2nd place is PK Subban with 240,362 That is craziness... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=741968
  24. This team is trying to ruin everything they have worked so hard for...winning 5 of the last 6?? WTF are you doing Sabres...this is NOT going to plan right now
  25. Sabres are killing themselves in the standings right now..cut it out guys!! Go back to sucking again!!
