The rule should be you play for the team that drafted you unless they waive their rights to you and then you become a free agent. Not seeing why these kids can just go to school and wait it out and become a FA afterwards. No idea why it's not like that to begin with, this rule makes pretty much zero sense.

It's impossible to say...different styles, different eras...what rules are we playing by? Like in basketball...does the 72 win Bulls team beat this year's Warriors team? Well how can you say for sure? Different era, different rules..are we allowing hand checking like they did back then? The extremely physical play that occurred back then? What rules are we playing by?...likely Warriors would win under today's rules and Bulls would win under their rules...the teams are built to compete and win under the rules they are playing by at the time...

I think if you are Going to move a proven goal scorer who clicked with Eichel you Damn well better get something more than an over-the-hill Vanek as a replacement

Best bet would be to make a side deal with Vegas to take one of those contracts but that would mean they'd have to agree to leave another player off the protected list or give up a prospect/pick in return for them taking the contract

Surprises? He looked good playing with the Sabres and far better than Franson, Gorges, Falk and Fedun most nights. He can step right into a puck moving defenseman role with the Sabres next year. He might have a few growing pains but he looks like he can handle it... If not send him to Rochester for a little conditioning but I think he can step right in, IMO

Why can't we? Toronto did with a very similar player and he produced pretty well. The KHL is not the AHL, there are quite a few really good players there. Antipin played for team Russia in the World's, he definitely isn't some scrub.

By all accounts Antipin is going to be a Sabre and should step into a top 4 pairing immediately

Hard to vote against Mogilny...he scored 77 goals for us and could have had another 20 if he figured out a better move on breakaways than to always try and go five hole...
