I have no idea WHY a coach would change the style of PP when we were the #1 PP in the league last year. Hey, I get it if we had bad results and he came in with a new idea and way of doing things...but if our way was obviously better than the new way by the results we got, why wouldn't you leave it in place? I mean what, he wanted to improve the PP from 25% to 30%?? Sometimes you just have to realize when the way someone else does things might be better than your way and you learn from it, and incorporate it not try and change it to fit your way.

Why does this team need to find itself down 3 goals in the 3rd period before they come to play?? Twice now in the last 3 games... -

Honest to God this team looks clueless 90% of the time... just stand around and don't bother taking out a player near the puck -
They make errors from start to finish most games...the little things that they can't even do right are what are really killing them...when was the last time you saw a quality tape to tape pass from the D coming out of their zone? Time and time again you see the forwards having to slam on the brakes and turn around to get the puck allowing the other team to basically smack them into the boards and take the puck away in the neutral zone, or at best, only allow the forward to dump the puck in instead of actually maybe making something happen if it was simply a quality pass where he could take it in stride and keep skating forward. It's like EJ was in football...was the pass complete? Sure...the guy dove and caught the pass for a 4 yard gain with nobody around them...problem is, if the pass would have simply been a basic pass every QB in the league makes, it would have hit him in stride and he would have gained 10 or 15 yards and gotten a first down...same concept...the team looks completely disjointed because they have no flow to the game. They have no flow to the game because their passes are all over the place and not where they need to be, even when they complete the pass to the forward.

Right...I'm sure the Vegas Golden Knights have more talent than us. No...this team has enough quality players they should be a fringe playoff team, not once again sitting at or near the bottom.

Watching this team is like listening to someone scrape nails on a chalkboard. Nothing comes easy. Making a simple crisp tape to tape pass is near impossible. The puck ends up behind where the player has to stop and turn around, or misses him or goes directly to the other team. I mean this is getting really painful to watch how bad this team is at simple fundamental plays that other teams make in their sleep without thinking about. If I was Housley I would make practice just about fundamentals until they started doing them properly in the game and tell them they havent earned the right to practice anything else yet. You want to not be able to do stuff that you learn in Pre-Wee hockey? Fine we will practice like we are in Pre-Wee hockey. You make a bad pass? Cool. You sit there and watch while every other player skates a lap. Because at this point nothing else really matters until they can start doing fundamental things right. They give themselves no chances in these games playing the way they are right now.

Housley with some really strong words postgame

How? Is he is supposed to force the players to stay and watch film until 2am? Apparently the same guys have been problems for 3 or 4 coaches now -

Well I think it would be obvious the players would have heard it directly from the coach after the game and probably a lot more harshly than his media comments -

According to Rivet players never pay attention to coach press conferences, they are only aware of what was said through the media or if friends or family text them if its really crazy or they get called out personally -

Where is the Chris Drury type leader on this team that would demand players come prepared and those players would be so afraid to incur his wrath they wouldnt dare come to the rink unprepared? O'Reilly is talked about as this great leader where is he when this is going on? Is he one of these players himself?? If he is preparing he should be all over these other guys who aren't and I am sure he knows who they are. This comes from players holding themselves and each other accountable. Once enough players do this everyone else will fall in line. But it has to start somewhere and Jack has to be on board with it. If he falls in line everyone falls in line. -

I guess we know why they have looked so clueless out there for most of the time this year...because THEY ARE clueless... -
Housley lambasted them postgame yesterday amd rightfully so. This team wants to make you believe they work hard..well maybe at practice but apparently not watching film to understand opponent tendencies away from the rink...its easy to work hard when you are being watched...what are you doing when nobody is there to make yourself better? Apparently nothing... Housley went off on them saying they were completely unprepared and it was an unacceptable level of preparation. He furrhee went on to say that you just csnt step on the ice and expect to win the games in the NHL and that is takes a lot of hard work and preparation on and off the ice and now the players know what to expect and there will be consequences if they dont do things the way he wants them done. I guess we know why they look lost out there...they have no clue what the other team is doing. What an indixtment of the so called leadership...could you imagone Chris Drury ever allowing this type of thing to happen?? Add in..Kane has been a beast most games and has been the best player on the ice for us and Reinhart actually factored in on 3 of the 4 goals last night and Housley seems to be flexible enough to understand that even though he doesn't like Reinhart standing in front of the net on the PP it led to 3 goals for them last night...one by him on a tip and two more by the goalie being screened by him. Reinhart and O'Reilly both got going last night..hope that continues.

He said the level of preparation for this game was completely unacceptable, that the team wasnt ready to play, didnt put in enough work in the film room and said the message has been sent loud and clear to them. He said being good takes a lot of hard work on and off the ice and said the players know what to expect now and if they choose not to do it there will be consequences. I really like this by Housley. These players are simply lazy as hell away from the rink. Its one thing to work hard when everyone is watching at practice or the game its quite another to work hard when nobody is there...learning tendencies of their opponents, breaking down how to beat their systems, etc... Its time for these guys to grow up and decide they want to maximize their potential or they need to get the hell out.

I don't even know what to think at this point...I don't care bout new systems, these guys look like they have never even played hockey before. What system tells you to pass the puck directly to the other team repeatedly and then ignore basic fundamental hockey on odd man rushes against? By far the best player in the first 3 games has been the one everyone seems to want to get rid of in Evander Kane. None of what we have seen in the first 3 games has to do with system it has to do with guys having their head up their @ss... These players should be embarrassed for receiving a paycheck for what they have been doing. Time to grow up.

Training camp questions #15: what will be the Housley effect?
matter2003 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Housley must have changed quite a bit from his younger days and matured a lot...Ray said he hated Housley because if you weren't at his level he looked down on you and basically ignored you...didn't get that impression now at all...lots of things can change in 25 years I guess -
Sabrespace newsfeed broken---will it ever be fixed?
matter2003 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Ack...you know what I just realized... It's the newsfeed on twobillsdrive.com that shows the Latest News from SabreSpace that is broken... I really need to drink some coffee before I post in the morning, lol -
I typically like scrolling through to read the Bills/Sabres news from those feeds...the Bills one still works, the Sabres one has been broken for over a month now, maybe two... Any plans on fixing it?

I was in Saint Louis for this, just north of totality....think we had like 98 or 99% or something...it got very dark, like dusk, enough so that all the street lights came on(they were those automatic ones that turn on when it gets dark)...very cool to experience...we didn't plan it like this, we just ended up there by accident at the right time...

fair deal for a good hockey player who has been underappreciated for his role here just because he hasn't turned into the 20-25 goal scorer everyone thought he'd be.

He's been good, but not great. This isn't Botterill's player, so he wants to see what he has in person before committing or not committing fully to him. Maybe there are some things Botterill doesn't like in his game...could be a number of reasons...
