I think what we are seeing without Eichel is the realization from the other players on the team that they can't sit around and wait for Eichel to do something now...they have to make it happen on their own. Honestly I played on a college soccer team similar to this...our best player went down for the year with an injury and we played better without him...it wasn't becaue we were literally a better team without him, we weren't. Everyone realized they had to work a little harder and do a little more to make up for his loss. We couldn't just sit around and wait for him to go through 3 or 4 guys and then dish off a pass to a wide open player for a goal...I think this is what we are seeing with the Sabres now...when they get Eichel back if they can continue to play the way they have been without him they can start really figuring some things out...if they decide to go back to "Oh, we will just skate around and let Eichel make something happen" again then we will see more of the same... In short, they aren't a better team without Eichel, but everyone realizes they need to work harder and do more than when they have Eichel. Basically, Eichel allows them to be lazy to a certain degree...without him they have to work harder.

Tyler Myers best year is still his rookie year here, Joel Armia is like 8 other guys we have here now and Drew Stafford is with the Devils now. Brendan Lemieux has played 9 total NHL games and has 1 point. What exactly are you wowing about for Winnipeg? That they got a bunch of dudes who you think shouldbbe good but actually aren't? They got an average defenseman who never lived up to his potential much like BOGO was for Winnepeg, a JAG in Armia, 1 decent season from Stafford and nothing else. Kane still was by far the best player in that deal...its not his fault the team sucked. And since hockey trades largely are won by the team who ended up getting the best player the Sabres won that trade.

If we were losing him anyway or didnt want to resign him it wasn't doing any good keeping him and losing him for nothing...he has a bad rep around the league, fair or not.

Half the teams in the NHL probably don't want anything to do with him due to his attitude/reputation/off ice stuff whether its fair or not...when you are limiting the number of potential suitors you are also limiting his worth

It better be more than what the Rangers got for Nash...Kane is younger, has more points this season and comes at a cheaper cap hit.

Eichel is going nowhere. There is a -1,000,000,000,000,000% chance he will be traded. And that might be too low Plus he is injured so even if they wanted to which they don't, I don't believe they could trade him.

Honestly its better for him if they are not...there is a 3 week Roman going on right now...much better to not be tied down Not weird, he had money,status and power. 3 things women are and always have been attracted to. Plus if you believe the stories he puts it down in the bedroom which definitely helps his cause as well. FYI women like guys who they know other women are attracted to.

I would take Tallinder over McKee...for a year and half before he got hurt Tallinder was dominant...never was the same once he came back but McKee was never at that level...

And somehow those players contribute to a winning team...just like Stafford and Myers are with their teams...and Zadorov.. Basically all these players we said are lazy and are reasons we are losing and need to get rid of them are somehow succeeding on other teams? I guess maybe we need to take a deeper look at what's wrong here

Bad goalies coupled with much smaller goalies and goalie equipment...a wide open game where teams actually tried to outscore one another instead of trying to out defend one another...the lack of defensive systems like the neutral zone trap and "left wing lock" that were being played...a lot less clutching, holding and grabbing allowed to slow the game done...far more power play opportunities... Basically the game has become a defensive game instead of an offensive game since then. yeah, he would probably have his point totals cut in half which is why his might be the safest record in all of sports...including Dimaggio's hiting streak record...there is nothing preventing another person from actually surpassing that record involving the structure of the game in Major League Baseball....in the NHL the structure of the game basically prevents anyone from even getting close to Gretzky's record. While other sports(NBA, MLB, NFL) have embraced offense and scoring and made rule changes to favor the offense, the NHL has regressed and embraced low scoring, boring snooze-fests that drive fans crazy most nights. Basically hockey has turned into dump, chase and recover.

I'm watching it and am shocked at how terrible women's hockey is to watch...simple D to D passes that are whiffed on...pucks clanging off sticks constantly...easy passes missed...its honestly dreadful...I've seen better high school games than this...women's soccer is awesome but women's hockey is so far inferior to men's hockey its ridiculous

Not this US/Canada women's hockey game, that's for sure...this looks like high school level hockey...wasn't aware there was such a talent difference between men's and woman's hockey..

What I'm seeing right now is how big a talent gap there is between men's and women's hockey...my God this US/Canada Women's hockey game is dreadful...players seemingly can't even make basic passes properly....

Better start doing some one leg bosu ball stands, various bosu ball exercises and some band work with the ankles... He could use some strength down there

Why hasnt this team played like this more? They have the ability to do it they just choose not to more often than not...why don't they realize that playing hard and winning games is a lot of fun...just ask Vegas...

We have the best PP in the NHL since January 7th...I think they are starting to get it figured out...wonder why it took so long tho... It's no secret...let Jack Eichel draw 2 or 3 people to him and make them look silly flailing at the puck and have Reinhart in front of the net Eichel is starting to turn into a beast...

I've been encouraged by what I have seen from Eichel of late...it seems he is starting to understand how he needs to play more often and has been a force most nights. It's no surprise the powerplay has once again been best in the NHL since early January with the way he has picked up his game---this team was lethal on the power play last year. Tonight he came out of the penalty box shaking his head and you could tell he was pise and then he basically took over the game and set up the game winner. We have a long way to go, but Eichel is starting to show signs he is understanding what we need him to be. 53 points in 53 games, on a 32 goal, 50 assist pace...there is a lot to like with Eichel's game right now, but truly think this is only the tip of the iceberg with him...

Why would you weigh the beginning of the season more than the end? Especially with a new coach and new systems in place? If anything the end would be more important because they would have had more time to get what the coaches wanted out of them... Bailey was up with the Sabres for a long time and now is hurt How can anyone be down on drafting Middlestadt??

I think we have seen what many of us suspected all along...this team CAN be OK as currently built...maybe not good, but certainly way better than they have been when they just decide to play hard and listen to their coaches...they have done that the last 3 games and outscore the opponents 11-1... There is no secret to what happened...watching them was like night and day from most of the other games the past 3 years...they were buzzing aruond...winning puck battles...winning puck races...tenacious along the boards and on the forecheck...getting back on the backcheck to break plays up... It really pisses me off to think this is how they have been capable of playing all along and they just chose not to because they liked gliding through games and not working hard...

They decided they wanted to actually work hard for most of the game the last 3 nights and do what the coaches have been asking them to do for the past 3 seasons. The result the last 3 games? Outscoring the opponents 11-1. It really pisses me off that this is what they have been capable of all year and just haven't felt like putting in the effort to achieve it while an expansion team that didn't even exists 9 months ago and has players nobody wanted is leading the Western Conference...
