Sigh. Ok, I apologise for expecting people to use their own brains. Vanek and Pominville both have 10 points in the last 18 games, thus neither of these guys are a) carrying the team b) living up to previous standards This is troubling because we have two real opportunities should we want to, to trade them - the draft and the deadline - and one of these opportunities is today. If both these guys are going to want $7 million+ salaries in an extension, is it better to trade them off now/at the draft? Rather than pay them for mediocre performance Neither guy has played under any other coach than Ruff (in the NHL) before this season, and their adaption to a new coach has not been smooth. If both are going to command big salaries but have less than stellar ppg then we should trade them off. Alternatively it could be they don't want to play for Ruff-less Sabres. The reason we have heard about Pommers is because he has the limited NTC, but Vanek doesn't. Maybe Regier is actively shopping both. Will be an interesting day.

Maybe Drew just read, and misunderstood, a quantum mechanics textbook and thinks if he fires it at the goalies chest enough times it might go through the goalies chest eventually

Vanek has 10 points in his last 18 games, as does Pominville

Major difference - we didn't get stuck in our own zone tonight. We actually got the puck out when we needed to -

ATM we have 15 mil in cap space to sign like 5 players, and only Cody will really require a large upgrade in cash HOWEVER, I WOULD DO WHAT SHERO DID WITH STAAL AT THE DEADLINE AND MAKE AN INFORMAL OFFER OF AN EXTENSION, IF THEY REFUSE SAID OFFER, TRADE THEM AT THE draft -

Until they went through their angsty rebellious phase... Back on topic - I haven't really noticed him out there, but not in a bad way, he seems to be playing well enough Yeah but it's only down for one season and they are under contract for that season and we should have room fro them -

I can't see the game, but why did Coho have the least ice time? He is on track for less than 9 minutes... -

Good thing Hodgson is getting 4th line minutes. I hated how productive he was being, he was ruining our tanking -
He is 23 and on track for a normal 40 point season - he is also very good defensively. Not bad really, If we got him + picks etc.

So a second and two fourth liners - not bad
-
That might not be a bad idea - play him as a 7th man

It's the trade deadline. This is the one time of year it is both acceptable and fun to go through motions of these random rumours

Hockey Insider now has Pommers and Gionta involved in a trade

Yeah, and management were renowned for treating the players well and providing a place players wanted to stay - i think it really helps when you have stars staying their whole life with a franchise (scarily they came so so so close to drafting Bure in the 5th round, someone convinced them not to, then they were gonna take him in the 6th round and Vancouver nabbed him three sports above them)
