In fairness Ennis slashed Hickey then jumped him all because Hickey made a very nice open ice check on Ennis. Tavares threw the punches when the refs were busy trying to pull people off the pile -

Unsung Hero - Weber Rookie of the Year - Foligno MVP - Miller As voted for by the team -
The average save percentage this season is .912. There are 3 goalies who are 6'0' and under who have a save percentage that is average or better. Howard - 6'0' Khuodibin - 5'10' Bernier - 6'0' Ignoring the fact two of them are actually 6'0', which isn't really that short for hockey player. One of those is a back-up who plays behind a defence that has made every goalie whose played on that team look like a Vezina candidate. One of them is a back-up who hasn't proven he is a starter, although it is likely. The other one is Howard, who again benefits from a good defensive system I don't think goalie's have to be big, but I think that if we trade Miller and go with Enroth we need a complete overhaul. For over 15 years the Sabres have been a team that relied on their goalie and built from the net out. Maybe that is a flawed tactic, but the point is that if we are going to go in a new direction I think we need a new identity.

UFA eligible starters are going at $5 million + - $10 million on two goalies is pricey. Especially if you think Miller is expensive at $6.25. RFA ones are going at between $1-4 million, depending on age and results etc. However, you have to trade for them and trading for them is expensive - Bernier will be going for 1st plus extra if he is traded and drafting is not an option. I don't know any team that rolls two goalies and depends on them to win games, which is what we would be doing. Not to mention if we are going to roll two goalies, why not roll Miller and Enroth? We could sign Miller for 5x6 and Enroth 4x2, which would be $8million on goalies and we would have locked down our goal for 4 years On the Enroth debate...I want him to steal the starting job. Would we be saying this about any other player? Let's give Vanek 4th line minutes to see what Flynn can do. Back-up goalies who do a good job either steal the starting job (Vancouver) or generate trade talk (LA). I see no reason we should give someone a tryout as a starter. Enroth has put up good numbers recently, he also went over a year without winning a game. The team might not have played well in front of him but it showed he could not carry the team and steal wins. Enroth has gotten more starts this second half of the season because he has played well, if that continues he will get even more starts (presuming the season was not about to end)
-
Or maybe starters have the talent but get tired and their stats drop. Back-ups lack the skill so their stats are never amazing to begin with
-
Also Enroth gives off mega rebounds - they cost you over time. Especially when a team starts prepping for it and breaking your game down
-
Also when you only play once every 2 weeks it is easy to feel rested between games, playing 4 a week for 6 months is tiring - all goalie's stats drop over time. It is why for the first 20 games 5 goalies have stats above .945 and by the end of the season the best 55+ game goalies have stats around the upper .920s
-
Miller was rafted in '99, so we are approaching 15 years of drafting with only Enroth being our success - and even he is not clear starter material

I feel bad for baby Staal. He is either very lazy, which negates my pity, or he got so unlucky in the gene pool. His three other brothers are not just in the NHL, they are stars of the NHL, whilst he is barely an AHL player

It really annoys me that our only top 5 pick in like 25 years was in a draft you could pretty much pick anywhere and get someone of equal/better talent Also, if i was GM i would resign Hecht. I liked the signing in the first place and Hecht proved me right. Never got and never will get the Hecht hate - apparently it has to do with symbolism... -
Well, we have never really suffered, we have been a mid table team for the last 5 years - ask the Leafs and Oilers what it is like to actually suck for 5+ years. This season has been horrific and we still are bobbing around the 10th position. Not to mention this was 48 games, you are prosing sucking for nearly 4 times that length Side note: How on earth are the Oilers a top 5 pick team this year? How many 1st overall/top 5 picks does it take to turn that franchise around?
-
Could that number have been prorated for this season as well?

Well. The Sabres did it again. They torpedoed their lottery chances and they missed the playoffs. Hello mediocrity -

Enroth has let 2 soft ones in, Miller 1. But the fact that there are so many goals tells me it is the 5 guys in front of them letting them down, not the other way around -

Goal 1 - D-man skate deflects it 5 hole Goal 2 - D-man skate deflects it 5 hole Goal 3 - Goalie screws up Goal 4 - D-man screens goalie (half goalie's fault - didn't look around screen) Goal 5 - D-man knocks the puck in (half goalie's fault - covered up very poorly) Goal 6 - Goalie screws up Goal 7 - Defence give a breakaway ...nice going defence... -
We can get to 52 points by winning out. Winnepeg can get 3 points out of their last 8 to give them 51 points Rangers can get 3 points out of their last 10 to give them 51 points If either team gets 4 points we are out. We have a game against each team, and we have to win, so actually: We need to win 8 out of 8 points to give us 52 points Winnepeg can get 3 points out of their last 6 to give them 51 points Rangers can get 3 points out of their last 8 to give them 51 points Also the Rangers have games against the 14th and 15th teams in the East...doesn't look hopeful. Ah well, at least we can be picking around the 12th mark again
