  1. If you can have two 80 point scorers on your second line, then yes, you win the cup. The only way you come even close to doing it is to sell off any prospects you have and trade your best defensemen - and even then you have to go for picks/prospects and hope they turn out. Nobody is trading a Tavares for an Edler. Luongo will be lucky to return a 2nd - vancouver have no real bargaining power. He wants out, they don't want him and he has an awful contract. I'm not sure why you suggest moving Kesler to the top line, he jus doesn't have the skill However, this won't even work as you end up with the Flyer's defence and an average goalie - ask the Pens how that tactic has been working out I agree both should go. I also think trading Cody was Gillis's worst move. All i ever hear Vancouver fans say is that Kassian has the hockey iq of a gorilla. In a year/post season they needed depth, cody was their answer. instead they got a 4th line goon (yes he might develop to be more but he isn't there yet) The Sedin's are 33 this summer. They have a year or two left before they just become ageing star vets (Iginla). If I am the gm, i go big and i go bold this off season with the hope of making it next year
  2. I think what made the goal allowed was that he moved both feet in a stopping motion (rather than one in a kick motion with his weight on the other foot). I do, however, think his stopping motion was timed to aim the puck at the net - but that's allowed. If Kaleta gets suspended for multiple games for nudging Richards then I have no problem with Sedin getting 2 minutes for a similar play
  3. My thoughts exactly. Paille suffered from the fact he was a first rounder, and the fact that the Sabres had far too many role players/mediocre players. Sadly this second problem still exists.
  4. Wow - I can't wait for game 4 of sens-habs For those talking about deliberately shooting the puck at a player - Alfie shot it against Scott Nidiermeyer in 07 - i don't think he got a suspension I'd be shocked if anyone got a suspension - i'd hope some Montreal players would after their disgrace on the ice
  5. It is as clean as an open ice hit can be. The head is in the middle of the body, it will always get hit. The only thing that matters is if it is the principle point of contact - which it wasn't. The shoulder was the principle point of contact and Eller's head hit the back shoulder pad of Gryba
  6. Shanahan needs to go. There is no explanation for how Ferrence gets 1 game and Brown gets 2 for repeatedly elbowing but this gets 2. What rule did he break?
  7. I think he was just bracing himself for the check What did Maclean say to make Prust say that?
  8. Hodgson's time in Vancouver is marred because of a back injury that the team medics missed, which meant Coho struggled. He went to an outside doctor who caught it and saved his career. Also he could never get significant playing time when Mr Art Ross and Mr Selke were above him in the depth chart. Gillis then said Coho was lazy after he traded him - but this is most likely to try and cover his ass as the fans were ready to riot again Coho's work ethic has always been exemplary here and never questioned - neither has his character. The leadership comes from all over the place - before he was drafted he was said to have leadership qualities, the vets on the cancuk's and the fans all said he was a good young leader, the fans basically saw him as their next captain in 5 years when Sedin retires etc. He is definitely a leader on the ice (by example), i don't know what he is like in the locker room
  9. Ah man! I wanted Nill for us. Stupid Darcy. If he lived in Japan he would have fallen on his sword by now
  10. So the Avs couldn't do even one thing right this season. However, Minny who has been struggling now faces the beast of the West. They order the draft by points, mostly, and there are two teams who have a worse record than the Wild - Ottawa and New York Islanders (stupid Wild ROW). Ottawa has one game left against the Bruins. If they win, Minny will pick 16th, instead of 17th, and they will deny the Bruins the division
  11. Leggio with a solid .669 save percentage
  12. Guess Grigo didn't make the cut. He is a scratch for this game I think
  13. In the last 13 years, Hecht has had 1 negative +/- season
  14. Hecht retired Thank you Jochen, your backhander will be sorely missed
  15. Shutouts are a combination of team work, great goaltending and luck. I put little stock in the number of shut-outs a goalie gets. You really think Broduer breaks the record if the Devils didn't trap and play defensive hockey for a decade? Miller should have had a shut out last night, but he screwed up on one play and it cost him
  16. Hecht finished his career with dignity - i'm glad he made it back from those concussions. I hope he at least makes it to the final for his award
  17. The chance of denying a division rival a playoff spot has to be motivation. If the Avs score an early one i could see tonights game haunting the Wild and unraveling them
  18. Marvin is back :D - there isn't a huge difference between 8th/9th, we can move up probably with all the assets we have
  19. ###### you gamecentre. If Miller says anything interesting can someone please share it Let's hope Philly get 1 point tomorrow
  20. Is he allowed? Was he on that list thing? A shootout loss would be perfect - keeps Miller's stats good for possibly his last game, and it guarantees us 8th (baring any lottery stuff) RJ commenting on this being Grigo's best game
  21. ...on 12 shots
  22. 5-0 half way through the game. This game is lost. One more loss and one more BJ win and we have our lottery
  23. The arena is loud  Is it the end of days?
  24. Miller ruins his chance for a shut-out this season :( I really thought tonight was the game
  25. Grigo has had a really nice game - three really nice offensive plays/shots and a couple nice passes
