Nope no way. Then we are the Oilers. Young players maybe good, but they need vets to give them space to get their feet. Ekblad would become our 2nd over D-man, facing Crosby, Ovechkin, Grioux etc. on a nightly basis. It just doesn't end well We have depth in our farm system. You don't trade vets to add more depth. Myers is 24, at some point you have to let players grow and play rather than trade them for newer younger models

If you don't want someone flying into your goalie, don't knock the skate they are balancing on. Honestly to me it looked entirely like Emelin (i think) fault. Also Tokarski played fantastically, especially last night, i'm not sure Price's presence would have changed much. Tokarski did enough for his team mates to trust him. If you only get 18 shots on goal, you probably aren't going to win

Interesting how many Sabres appeared on that list
-
I dunno both the Pens and Hawks were pretty awful for a while. I wouldn't say they iced a good team whilst bringing in complementary players. One of the issues with the Sabres prospects is that, whilst deep, it still very much lacks star power. We don't have that one guy. Arguably that's a good thing. Disappointingly, this should be the year to get that guy. However, this weak draft appears to mean he won't be here either. Maybe Myers can be that guy eventually. Risto, Zad, Myers or Grigo are the only players who could be that star guy in our system atm (imo)

No way not to hit the jaw when he is leaning forward like that (I agree he could have minimized contact - got lower and exploded up; but i think there have been worse head shots that have gone unpunished
-
Shoulder to upper chest, then the top of shoulder pad connects with Stepan's jaw
-
I'd wasn't a head hit. Shoulder to chest. But it was very late
-
Sad truth of the matter. Not even 2 minutes. Even if they do suspend him, it will be for 1 game. It is still beneficial to make these plays. That is why they happen so often He broke Stepan's jaw. I'd take that trade any day

I agree that is what I would do, and what they will probably do. However, i don't think it is as black and white as you suggest. Stastny provides a vertern presence in the dressing room and arguable stops them becoming the Edmonton Oilers with their forward crop. He is defensively trustworthy, although ROR is probably better. He put up more points per game than O'Reilly in both playoffs and regular season. He also has a good chemistry with MacKinnon. Furthermore, he also centres their top line, whilst ROR wings their second.

Yes. My comment about playoff exit was referring to Millers. I don't doubt Bishop had a good season and TB would have had a better post-season with him. I just think it is an interesting and daring idea. It flies in the face of playing it safe and isn't as risky as 'win-now' because they have the Latvian a few years away
-
Miller might be ageing, but he could easily have another 3/4 years being an average goaltender. Plus they have that Latvian goalie in their system, who is ranked as their second best prospect behind Drouin I believe. Sign Miller, trade Bishop whilst his value is high and get a nice return to solidify the team. Combined with Stamkos returning and you have one nice team. After the playoff exit and the fact Tampa could be in a nice position to be a contender in a year or two, maybe you get a 4 year 20-24 million contract out for Miller. There is the risk Bishop had a career year, or at the very least, will regress next year. It is a bold and risky move, but he who dares...

Won't work here. Now the argument will shift to how it is bad for people to all get medals..

Hossa has become a great two way player. He was average before the hawks. Plus Vanek is better on the PP etc. I mean role within a team, not specific functionality
-
I still think Vanek is a Hossa. A fantastic player but not someone you build around. Let them be your 3-6th best forward and you're in good shape
-
It is a little different here. Sanhurst isn't an academy, it is only officer training. So you're there for one year rather than four. However, by all accounts the experience isn't the most pleasant. I don't plan on doing it as a career, but I would like to do it for 5ish years, then transition to something else. This makes the managerial side of being an officer useful, if less fun

I think she accepts i'm weird enough to google that kind of stuff for bizarre reasons :P How is the Canadiens goalie looking?
-
I was on google! My interest was purely academic I assure you. Sadly google thought otherwise. I never did get a satisfying answer to my question.

Is Shero a good GM? Pitt have a pretty bare prospect cupboard and with the two best centres only one cup in 5 years. Let's not forget what he did to the US olympic team... I don't think he is a bad GM, but he certainly hasn't squeezed every once of success from the materials he was given Plus he kept Blysma on - terrible decision
-
Yeah that makes a lot more sense :P I guess I got distracted halfway through working it out
