Sorry I completely ignored our 2015 hit. Oops For the years when the contract would actually be in effect, the hit is worked out as the difference between the average cap hit for the buyout and the actual amount the player would have earnt. As the last year of CoHos salary was to be the most, ie above the average for the contract, we actually get credit. The reaming four years are just the average cap hit of the buyout. I think this is roughly right, anyway

I think Moulson gets paired with Reinhart for the season. He played with Jonny T a ton, so has experience playing with that kind of player. I think Eichel plays with Kane/ROR/Ennis. I wouldn't be surprised if Reinhart got paired with Gionta too.

What is this story? I agree with ROR. Give him 8 years and lets move onwards If Babcock can win a cup with the Leafs...well he is a hockey legend for all time (or more of a legend). They'll write ballads about him. I can see him being hesitant as Buffalo certainly seem closer, but I can see why he chose the Leafs, and it wasn't because they are likely to contend for the cup this year or next.

I could actually see CoHo being really productive on Reinhart's wing. I think they see the game in a similar way. He was awful last year, but let's say he rebounds. He got 44 points on a last place team. With the right centre, if he is putting up 55 or so points. That could give us some serious depth. That said, we still have too many players, as well as a huge imbalance of players. Agreed. He is 34. So could we get him for 2 years at 5-5.5mil? With the idea of trading him to a contender. Or maybe convince him to join us longer term 4 years at 4 million?

It was an overpayment. But it does depend how Lehner performs. He is still seen as a top prospect. The goalie market was hugely inflated when we bought in. It later collapsed. We might have the goalie for our cup run. I would pay that time and time again over a one year 29 year old UFA

Murray didn't want a goalie. He wanted Lehner. If 21st makes it to the NHL it will probBly be as a third liner. Think Goose. If Lehner turns out even average, this is a good trade. Let's hope Murray has evaluated him well.
