Where did you get the contract info from? (I want to be nosy and read more about the terms)
-
I'm assuming sarcasm? I agree with Sizzle, this isn't getting air time because there is nothing that interesting or damaging about it.

UFA College Defenseman Casey Nelson signs with Sabres

Worth listening to the whole thing. Talks about Kane and how he had a slow start, but was overall happy with him and thought he was one of the hardest working guys on the team for 2/3 of the year. Mentions his tardiness and how they had a long chat about it. Mentioned he needs to be a better team mate and often turns up 5 minutes before practice and laces up and goes out - no warm up or stretches - and he needs to appreciate others can't do that. Apparently some guys on the team were apprehensive about him before the season due to reputation. Interestingly it sounds like no one has issues with his on ice behaviour but he can be cold and closed off when not on the ice and he needs to work on that. Sounds like he doesn't really trust people or let the in. Wants Lehner to be fitter but understands he couldn't work out much due to injury. Handled being a starting goalie well. Needs to work harder in every practice - but said thats a problem with all young goalies and usually takes a few years. Goalies don't need to be the best player, but the hardest working player. You don't need days off just because you're playing lots -
Agreed. Consensus seems to be he will be the second Dman picked and will go around the 7-9 range

Maybe in the minority, but I'm really hoping we jump the Yotes and Habs. This team needs to win, and they need to learn how to win. The difference in terms of winning the draft is like 1.5%, and I would trade that every day if it meant a team that was competitive and wanted to claw their way up the standings regardless of the point in it. I don't want to become the Oilers who after 5 top 3 picks in 6 years are still last in the league. However, if a player gets injured then let them get the medical treatment ASAP so they have longer in the offseason to recover and train
-
Agreed. Fundamentally he is allowed to make this decision, just as a GM can trade a player with little to no warning. However, what makes him a douche is the fact he told Poille three times that his intention was to sign and join them. I assume he will go to Boston or Toronto. Plus him pulling this kind of stuff damages the stock of NCAA players. Russians drop in the draft because of the fear that the KHL has a pull on them, even though only two players have departed (Radulov and Kovalchuk). Shultz, Vesey, Wheeler are high profile players who have pulled this stuff. At the very least tell the GM so he can trade you and get something more than empty air. They can't force you to sign and it would be a nice way of repaying the investment and faith they made in you

Boston might be their hope for the streak to stay alive

Skinner did throw the first punch... Skinner seemed to be causing trouble out there (not necessairly in a bad way). I guess the refs wanted everything to cool down- 490 replies

Surely it is hard coded into the contract? I.e. after July 1st 2017 a full NMC clause comes into effect. That can't be disputed, surely?

The league has said you can protect 7F, 3D and 1G or 8 skaters and 1 G. Players who are in their first two years of ELC are not eligible, nor are prospects. Who do you protect?
-
I doubt they do it, but OEL would be my target

I'm a hockey fan. i enjoy the moves other teams make. Also it is a day, historically, where things happen - e.g. Kassian for Hodgson. So being out the playoffs is not a guarantee nothing happens. Finally, for every buyer there must be a seller, even when bad it is fun to see what pieces your team get for the future
-
Urgh. Today sucked. Nearly took a day off work. Thank goodness I didn't

Crosses fingers for Pirri
-
Did TSN explain why Pirri was sent for basically nothing? Surely it is better to take him for a cup run than get a crap pick
-
I hope your son is less of a disappointment

Is Ennis still injured? Is there any chance we can get rid of him?
-
Ennis, well I just don't like his game. He mostly just annoys me. Foligno tries to be something he is not. Weber knows his job and fulfils. Don't ask too much of him and he will serve his role. He was taken higher than expected in his draft year because of how determined to make the NHL he appeared in his interview. He was twice the unsung Sabre of the year (as voted for by the players). He loved the city. A low third is a borderline pointless pick. Our defence isn't exactly brimming with depth, he is a cheap and reliable 6/7 d-man
-
Think i'd rather have Weber than the 90th pick tbh. Its a shame, this will be a quiet weekend for us. The crap that needs to go - Ennis, Moulson, Foligno etc. - won't get shifted and we don't have any exciting UFA
-
They could have given him 10 games under Cat 2. They ruled it was intent to injure rather than just being physical with the ref
