  1. Would Hitch teach Eichel to pass and use his line mates rather than lap the rink then give the puck away? If so let's get him
  2. Everyone was a rookie once though
  3. Toronto has three rookie of the months. Do we even have one? Mathews > Eichel Marner > Reinhart Toronto Nylander > Buffalo Nylander (based on their AHL stats this isn't even close) Anderson > Lehner Reilly = Risto Babcock >>> DD Depressing
  4. I disagree. He is asked to do so much, if we had more depth he wouldn't have to be doing so much and could focus on stuff more.
  5. Can we trade Bogo? Maybe for a tall d-man in Winnipeg?
  6. Our goaltending is one of the best in the leagues. We have a promising young crop of forwards. Kane/Eichel/ROR/Okoposo/Reinhart is a really decent top 5
  7. Two seasons ago it was all about size and grit. I think its mostly people interpolating backwards. Team that know their identity win.
  8. Coaching change(s) always occur before GMs go. Murray easily has another 18 months
  9. We're trying to play a fast game against a faster team. That's coaching. We should be playing to our strengths, not theirs. This isn't the 1980 game against the Soviets.
  10. Out of interest, do you see Nilson as the Sabres goalie for the near future? Do you consider this his breakout year, rather than an usually good season before he regresses to his normal state of barely above .900 hockey
  11. Man I love ROR. Isn't the most talented, but he is someone who has milked every inch of what God gave him
  12. Sarcasm? That's on the defence. You don't leave a 40 goal scorer alone in the slot whilst the puck is behind the net (forcing the goalie deep into his crease)
  13. Lehner on point today
  14. Risto even pointed to who Bogo was meant to be marking and he still didn't manage to process the play before it was too late Yeah that seemed to be the idea... but that is a weird strategy when playing a very fast team and a poor breakaway goalie
  15. People would be crucifying Lehner if he had been the one to give up that rebound on the GWG
  16. To be honest, if jack ever becomes a point per game player then I'll be happy. I expect in five years when those redrafts are done, jack will be taken 3rd or 4th. Reinhart is another bust of a 2nd overall. I think he will be a Kyle Turris, not a Toews. Ultimately, the tank has failed and we need to rely on trades and surprise prospects now. Or we become the oilers and bottom dwell until a truly elite player can be taken
  17. Eichel just isn't a Mathews or McDavid. He is an Erik Johnson - a good player that can't carry a franchise.
  18. Can you imagine the hype around here if last season Eichel put up Mathews numbers? Eichel is Marleau - solid 1st line points but not a keystone of a succesful team Matthews is Thornton - a star Obviously there are problems with this, e.g. Thornton being famed for a choker and the Sharks being mostly a failure in the post-season. But the point stands
  19. Bieksa has a NTC Stoner is pure crap - good luck finding a team with the cap space and desire. Despres is signed cheap and long term Fowler is a UFA in under 2 seasons He makes the most sense from a trade point of view. I'm sure he is low down on the list of who ANA would want to trade but that's irrelevant. Their back is against a wall. What happens if someone offer sheets Lindholm for 7 million? They have a week to find that cap space and no one is going to be trying to give them 'fair' value for their players then. Their negotiation position is weak and can only get worse
  20. I have a horrible feeling McDavid - Eichel is going to be a Crosby - Bobby Ryan type 1-2 relationship. I think Eichel will be good, probably a bit better than Ryan - but I actually am sceptical he will ever be a superstar
  21. Foligno + 2nd + 2nd for Stoner + Fowler ...? Foligno is an Anaheim-esque player
  22. Definitely 4th, the other three would have required a spectacular save or luck to stop. However, he also made some spectacular saves that bailed the team out. You can only ask for so much from a goalie. He would have needed to play lights out for us to win last night. So yes, he could have saved the game for us. But did he lose the game for us? No.
  23. So we criticise players who are soft and play a safe lethargic game, avoiding physical contact and we criticise players who play the game hard and fast? Right...
  24. Failed team? Is that an identity?
