  1. Does anyone know how to score in this game? My scores are always 2-1 or 1-0 (usually i have the lower number :( )
  2. Waivers?
  3. Devils don't want to lose another big name player http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=413686
  4. By the sounds of it he is like Roy, talented but likes to party and isn't completely focused on hockey. I really don't want him on the team, i just don't see any room for him haha, perhaps bad choices of words :P - made me laugh though, good spot
  5. Redden was screwed by NYR and was a classy guy throughout the process. I hope Det gives him a contract, I think he will be a decent bottom 2 guy on most teams. And he is clearly a good mentor (look at the Rags current blue line!). I could see the devils offering Gomez a contract. Both guys could be signed cheaply, as they are still earning the big bucks from their former teams
  6. http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13286451 The NHL shop made a shirt to commemorate this event i think?
  7. In other news - watching the beyond blue and gold series. Toronto said if Reilly wasn't there at 5, would we consider 5 and 35 for 12 and 21 - interesting trade idea. I also find it odd that teams talk about possible trades depending on how the night goes weeks before the draft - though it obviously makes sense
  8. Giroux is now the Flyer's captain. Goodbye Chris.
  9. Yup, I agree - huge fan of Pommers. Love his game and his calm attitude
  10. I think his argument holds some water - i.e. the playoffs can turn a player who is respected for being very good into a player who is revered for being a 'superstar'. So a team does not need superstars to win the cup (as someone else suggested), they need very good players who will be referred to as stars once they win. However, it could be confusing causation with correlation. i.e. did the player become a superstar because he won the cup, or did he become a superstar over the course of the season and win the cup because he was a superstar. After all, it is widely accepted that stars win (unless they are from Dallas)
  11. Zetterberg gets the C (as everyone knew he would). Damn I'm jealous of Detroit's captain list
  12. Richards earnt his contract because of his playoff play - he is the gritty clutch leader you need in the playoffs - there is a reason he has made it to the finals a lot
  13. True, but what had Zetterberg ever won before the Conn Smyth? But I think most would have called him a star before that season Doughty was also ranked 8th in the 2010-11 list and Kopitar 29th
  14. Yeah, not sure they are superstars/play like superstars though - they are like Vanek, Myers and Pominville - very very good players, but not superstars. But that is slight nitpicking Kopitar was 10th and Quick was 16th (Unless you mean the list before, in which case K was 21ist and D was 23rd and our only player was Myers at 47th. Malkin was like 22nd, so that list seems a little dodge)
  15. Kopitar and Quick?
  16. http://oxforddiction...n/english/spelt - nope, i got it right DR already said they don't care about burning a year of his contract on a shorter season - if he can play, he plays. What were Lindy's comments that implied he would be sent down if he is ready?
  17. Wow brutal. You pay the player 100% of his salary this year, take the cap hit for this year, pay them 1/3 or 2//3 remaining the contract (as applicable) (but you get no cap hit next year) and the player can sign somewhere else and collect that salary. But I think it is the right call, players should not be stopped from playing for a contract the owners/gms offered them. I think it should be called the Glen Sather ATM rule
  18. It doesn't really happen because there is no incentive to do it. They either match the offer easily and are pissed at you, or you sign a player to a contract that overpays them so much the other team cba to match (a.k.a. the Vanek). Very few players are worth losing 4 firsts for - Shea Weber is one of the exceptions. 5-6.7mil is a first, second and third - he is definitely worth that, but colorado will just match and anymore than that and you are way overpaying (even that price bracket is overpayment). Plus if they agree to sign him, they then can't trade him
  19. I'm shocked they risked Hickey on waivers, should have traded him IMO. NYI is grabbing every D-man available, maybe if they steal enough one of them will actually want to play for them :P
  20. Most people attempt to explain their position, and I have no problem with that, even if i disagree with it. He didn't even try. I called him a moron for calling me a school yard bully. I understand why people might be upset about Hecht resigning, but to say this will cause young players to be cut from the line up and cite history as the evidence is unfounded and ridiculous Good point on Brennan, hadn't thought of it that way - cheers. Visnovsky never wanted to be an Islander, he asked to have the traded vetoed when it happened and got denied. He has a contract to honor and so I don't respect him on that front. He is annoyed that he was traded even though he has a no trade clause (kicks in this season), but he chose to take more money and have a NTC kick in later, he could have negotiated for less money and an instant NTC. Not to mention, I struggle to see him refusing to play if the Rags have his contract, so I don't think his refusal is principle based, i think it is Islander based In other news, 6/9 D-men contracts end this year with Brennan and Weber on RFA contracts and the other 4 (Pardy, Regehr, Leopold and Sulzer) UFA. This does mean our top 3 are retained, which is important and we do still have a wealth of prospects (McNabb, Pysyk, Mccabe etc.)
  21. I think Myers is our only right handed D. I like those lines. Kaleta - Hecht - Gerbe would also be a pretty legit shut down line to settle the game a little if things were getting out of control
  22. Teams want defense, but the asking price is too high at the moment and I think some GMs are hoping to steal people through waivers on Thursday/Friday. If we do trade, I would like it to be with Detroit and I would like us to get Helm. He is like a young Hecht - solid defensively, great on the PK, 2nd/3rd line centre. But I think it is most likely that we trade for picks if we do trade
  23. Tell me what young player has been kicked off the team because of Jochen Hecht? Tell me what young player is unlikely to get ice time this season because of Jochen Hecht? Perhaps Hecht won't make the team? What have you been smoking? You think Hecht is worse than Ellis, Kaleta, Scott, Mccormick etc.? I called your claims "ridiculous" (spelt correctly) because they have no basis of truth in them. What young player has ever been kicked off this team for a vet? Not to mention Lindy is the one who coached/trained the current vets. Yeah Hecht may end up on the second line, I hope not, but he might - it all depends on who is injured i guess. He is a solid NHL player who will not hurt this team in anyway, he is also dirt cheap. P.S. Telling someone to shut up is hardly bullying, nor is it a particularly juvenile thing to say when faced with a moron. P.P.S Calling you a moron is perhaps bullying
  24. Peters is hilarious! Must be fun having him back near the ice Watching the scrimmage stuff - i forgot how good Leino was in the corners at not getting knocked off the puck. Leino's puck possession with Ott's space making skills and Grigs shooting skills could be a scary line - especially as a third line
  25. Oh shut up, if you are going to have such ridiculous claims at least have evidence for them.
