Game Discussion Thread GDT: Buffalo at Carolina (1/24/2013, 7:00pm)

Wonder which pair of players have requested to room together instead of separate rooms. OT - I wonder how many more 'romantic liaisons' will occur now the vets get their own rooms on the road. -
When i first read this, I thought you meant that if the employees didn't agree with you there would be a chance they would get fired :P

I watched the condensed Tampa-Canes game. They didn't look bad, they just looked they weren't clicking and there wasn't enough urgency. They are a talented team, and they seem to be a thorn in our side quite often. If we do win both games it will be big, but I think we will have to fight for the points -
I believe the exact maths used by a poster on the NHL website was: 1 Zach Kassian = 3 Cody Hodgson They also said Cody hasn't really scored a goal this season (one went in off his foot, the other his body), compared to the scoring machine of Zach. Oh they are fickle

And for tonight's rumoured history, i give you this forum thread (as i can't find anything proper): http://www.thebreaka...teve-Ott-s-wife Oh and Tim was the best man/godfather to Ott's kid -
Darcy can agree with him. Hell, I agree with TP. I really like Erhoff. The issue comes down to can Darcy say no to TP's demands, if he can, then TP is just another set of eyes. The guy clearly loves hockey, so I trust his ability to bring Darcy's attention to a situation. Saying we really need to get Erhoff, and then we get him doesn't mean Darcy had no say in the matter That video also made me realise, the last 4 Stanley cup champions have opened their season in europe

The ref should also be suspended. He was looking right at the play and didn't even call a penalty. He was a foot off the ground before he made contact, and as a result the head was the principle point of contact. No jump, no head hit, no suspension.

I agree. The only thing which makes me more optimistic is that Coho has played very very well in both games (bar faceoffs) and it seems that his play away from the puck is helping the other two score (e.g. him driving to the net on Pommers goal, which opened up the passing lane to Pommers). I think they made Adam look good; but so far, I think Coho has held his own on the line. Secondary scoring is more of a concern to me atm

Grigs has looked good defensively, back checks well and his positioning is good. Him and Coho both have a high hockey IQ, they just seem to know in their bones where they should be. He does, however, look like what he is - a talented rookie. He has shown flashes, but he has also made mistakes (e.g. that brutal shift last night). I think, so far, he has been good enough that he is not a liability, which is what will really determine if he stays. So I think he stays. He was also way more noticeable last night (for both good and bad reasons) than he was two nights ago.

If Kaleta got a game misconduct....why was he still out there in the third? -

Oh alo NHL GCL is a dick. They tried to blackout the game for me! Luckily i beat them. But i missed the first Sabres goal of the season because of my work-around -

Thoughts: Noticed Coho a lot - glad he scored Vanek was lazy but also got 5 points... Pommers made some nice passes Myers looked good early on but made some silly errors We got lucky with the refs Grigs didn't get much ice time. But it was his first rookie game. Flyers did the same with Laughton yesterday. Laughton looked a lot more noticeable compared to Grigs Huge props for Stafford. Liked his grit and he took some punches and still managed to throw Hartnell to the ground The PP looked bipolar. Half the time it didn't get anything done, the other half it was lethal Both teams (especially philly) looked very tried in the last 10 -

We're lucky the ref blew the whistle early. But the puck was not fully across the line even after the whistle was called -
My new years resolution was to finally try and understand NMR and the theory/physics of it. So far it is going pretty well I think; however, I am getting confused by relaxation, motion and the correlation time. So i understand that: The magnetic moment of each nucleus precesses around B0. The frequency of this precession is the Larmor frequency (ω0), which is equivalent to the resonance frequency of the nucleus and the energy difference between the two levels. Brownian motion of a magnetic moment generates random local field variation at a neighbor. The frequency dependence of Blocal can be found by FT. The Brownian motion-induced fluctuating field can be thought of as containing a range of frequencies, including the nucleus’ ω0 frequency Because the local field frequency can match the Larmor frequency, emission/absorption events can be stimulated that reestablish the Boltzmann equilibrium, allowing the spin energy to be detected as it is transferred to the molecular framework (the lattice) And i also understand that correlation time (τc) represents the time it takes for a molecule to reorient by 1 radian (this is also called tumbling time). Thus a shorter correlation time means the molecule is moving faster. But why does this generate a wide range of frequencies with relatively low amplitude, while slow motion generates a much more limited range of frequencies, but these have higher amplitude? And how does this explain the T1, T2 vs Tc graph (the one that has a straight like for T2 and a v-shaped line for T1)? And finally, one explanation (i think) for this was that basically dipole-dipole relaxation is short range and if tc is small, then the molecule is moving too fast to interact with neighboring molecules. However, I thought interactions were controlled by the frequency of the two molecules, not by proximity? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well this is a boring press conference... -
Hecht is $1.25mil, Connolly is $4.75. Enough said I think
-
So Calgary could lose both their back-up goalies...lol. I would be shocked if Irving isn't picked up, 24 years old and a pretty decent set of stats - Toronto could use him. Apparently Carlyle really didn't like Connolly, so i guess they are hoping someone takes him off waivers, and if not, they just bury him. No buy out. (makes sense)
-
I don't get why Tim was waived? He has one year left, and if he is bought out they have to pay him his full salary and take the cap hit? Do they just really not want him playing for them?
-
He is in Quebec, you need to move him onto the Sabres. Annoyingly he is also only a 64
