  1. They are playing well, but Coho is a huge part of why - could Matt Ellis have passed like that to Vanek on the first goal? Watch the guy play, he opens up the ice for them by drawing players away. He might be third in points but that doesn't mean he is just riding shotgun in all this
  2. I think he needs someone who isn't as 'shut-downy' as Regehr but someone who is a stronger skater. Weber and Regehr are both too sand papery, we need a strong defensive presence but not a hitter. Rob Scuderi would be perfect in my mind and he is a UFA at the end of the season. He has 2 cup rings and has been huge in the playoffs for both teams. A Myers-Scuderi game works perfectly, Myers can gain confidence playing his game with Scuderi ensuring the pooch isn't screwed when Myers jumps into plays and Myers can learn the more defensive side of the game from Scuderi
  3. I think this chemistry they have has only been showing for the last few years. And also the fact they are similar in age meant they were both rookies/novices at the same time so would probably have been separated and put on lines with vets
  4. Anyone remember when the Stafford Hamilton thing happened?
  5. This is true. But secondary scoring is still a little sparse on this team, so he isn't the only guy at fault. Ennis finally did something though, so that's a bonus. It is also worth noting that Foligno has had 3 or 4 lovely opportunities and missed them I saw a lot of Toronto fans wishing the Sabres luck before this game - I think that is a tell tale sign
  6. I agree - i've ben very impressed with Stafford's play this year. He hasn't scored and has few points, but he has hustled and broken up some plays (a couple 2 on 1s) and has had strong board presence
  7. The two teams Ruff says he hates most in the league are Philly and Boston, they are also the two teams Vanek has 5 points against. Maybe we should not hate Ruff's negative attitude and instead start channelling to more teams
  8. Another rules question. If we had scored, which penalty is negated? And can a 5 minute penalty be negated by scoring before they touch the puck (i would imagine not?)
  9. I don't think he usually needs covering. He normally isn't that bad. And he did show sparks that game. The key is to find a D-man who drops a little lower back than Leo does, to let Myers jump into plays a little more. The first period i was really impressed by Myers...then it disappeared.
  10. Yeah. I dunno really. Myers isn't playing well (but i think this forum uses him as a whipping boy a little), he can also make some nice plays (and did during that game). I think Regehr is too shut down. Myers needs a defence first d-man but not a sand paper D-man. I think that's why Tallinder worked. I dunno really, maybe Tyler is having personal problems and not concentrating on the game atm. Either way, it would be nice if he would return to form. It could also be that Tyler is not emotionally mature enough to handle the pressure and in a few years will be able to. Might seem like a silly idea, but being around his age I know I have changed hugely in the last 6 months
  11. Which Bruins were injured in the game, bar Thornton? Someone said we sent 3 to the dressing room? Also Chara was a -3 lol
  12. The pairing should be broken up. A huge part of them sucking is them not clicking. Neither helps/covers the other one. I'd put Myers with Weber, but 44 and 6 play well together. As do the two germans. We need a defense first D man who plays well with Myers
  13. We should trade him. He is screwing up LR/DR's master plan of losing to get a high draft pick. Foligno had a nice game - wouldn't go as far as to say he is the heart of the team or has seized the captaincy though
  14. Myers and Leo only got 16 minutes that game. I think Lindy noticed their play. Weber got over 21 and had 6 hits and 4 blocked shots. If Weber keeps this up, Leo sits. He is playing too well to be scratched
  15. Miller and Vanek....both had amazing games Coho, Hoff and Pommers also played very well Myers and Leo were not very nice to watch Marchant is a prick - did you see him nod when he scored his goals, i wanted to punch the TV I also thought Weber had a nice game
  16. Also this game is a perfect example were Miller plays very well but had mediocre stats. He plays better than stats suggest
  17. Pommels has already had over 17mins of icetime!
  18. He has also made 2 bone head plays when he was on the ice
  19. Reading this is so amusing. Bipolar fans. Myers has had a good game bar te Marchant thing; every game he is better. Ennius finally does something
  20. Good first period I think. Stafford, Foligno and Myers have caught my attention for good plays. Ennis is stroll really struggling, he is trying to get too cute with the puck. He needs to step up. Our top line looks dangerous Everytime they touch te ice
  21. Maybe our philosophies differ. But i'm of the opinion either you play a rookie and he shows you something that makes you want to play him again (e.g. Grigo) or he shows you nothing special and so you play him only when things are going well (e.g. Brennan) And to clarify, a 4 game losing skid going in against an undefeated (in regulation) team who screwed us last season is not classified as things going well
  22. Exactly. If a rookie looked no better than any vet, why would you play a him over any vet? I thought he looked okay - mostly invisible, saw he made one nice shot though
  23. It would be poetic if the Sabres season was turned around by dominating the team that ruined their season last year
  24. He doesn't have a point, but stats are deceiving - there are 3 or 4 Vanek/Pommer goals where Coho has made a nice hockey play away from the puck e.g. screening the goalie, drawing a player etc.
  25. I will be taking the role of hope in this production of Pandora's box and say we beat the bruins 4-1
