  1. I'm not sure what your point is? They are all good prospects
  2. I liked it - i'm not sure why people showed such outrage? If it is going to be a shoot-out why not try something creative
  3. Teams not trade stars, not just because their production is very good, but also because they are the name/face of a franchise - they put people into the seats and sell jerseys, people know who they are
  4. Look at the Oilers - you need vets to be able to give young guys room to grow. The old core consists of Vabek, Stafford, Pommers, Miller. Our top 6 is already young, you have to keep Pommers and Vanek. Stafford is the St Louis Brad Boyes of our team. Miller is a bit more tricky - the only way I would be happy trading him is if we also got Bernier or Schnieder back (probably in another deal). It is rare a team goes anywhere without a very good goalie - 3/7 Stanley cup winning goalies also won the Conn Smythe - the ones that didn't? the Red Wings, but when you have the best defenceman of all time, and two of the best defensive forwards who will be hall of famers you don't need elite goaltending. The Pens, Malkin won it, but Fleury was damn good, people wouldn't have complained if he won it. The Ducks won it with Pronger and Niedermayer on the ice for 50+ minutes. The Blackhawks won it with Niemi playing incredibly, if i remember correctly. To Summarise, To win the cup you must have one of these: A great goalie A hot goalie Hall of fame defence A hot goalie is too unpredictable for my liking
  5. Do you play for the Sabres? Are you over 28? Well pack your bags, it's time to go. This organisation prefers the younger demographics, the kind of rookies who can put up 70 points a night whilst playing against shutdown lines in the league. It might seem like this team is miserable with an all star goalie and two 70 point players, but this is all deception. Once we manage to get rid of this baggage we can finally put all the rookies in and watch and smile as they win back to back cups for a decade. We would never be able to win 10 cups with someone over 28, they' be too old for that final push for the 10th cup. But fear not OAP (old age players), Pegula promises to put your name ont he wall - the highest thank you this franchise will give you for devoting 10+ years of your life to us. I'm Terry Pegula, and I approve this message
  6. This was a much better effort from the whole team - no long periods of getting pinned in our zone. I still think Grigo deserves more than 5 minutes of ice time a game. The drop off from Miller to Enroth is huge - we won because we played a good game tonight
  7. The thing i find weird, is the wording - he won't get a contract extension. It implies the Sabres want to move away from him, rather than vice versa. Not to mention it implies they don't want to trade him to really solidify for the future, but instead just want to get rid of him
  8. I use Chrome and it wouldn't load for me, so I used Firefox instead - dunno if that is your issue They also said Miller won't get a contract extension
  9. Hrm...Just found a way to listen to it. They made it sound very definite that Miller's days were coming to an end - weird that we have heard no rumblings at all?
  10. I can't find a good thread for this - i'm too tired to try that hard. But here is what my plan for next season would be, if I was TP: Vanek (7.143 R) - Hodgson (3.5 R) - Pommers (5.3 R) Folingo (0.9 L) - Ennis (2.8 L) - Armia (1.275 R) Ott (2.95 L) - Grigorenko (1.775 L) - Leino (4.5 L) Miller (1.1 L) - Gordon (1.5 R) - Kaleta (1.086 R) Thompson (1.1 L) 7 Lefts, 6 Rights Total Cap: 33.7 Ehrhoff (4.0 L) - Myers (5.5 R) Mcnabb (0.9 L) - Sekera (2.75 L) Weber (1.3 L) - Pysyk (0.9 R) Sulzer (1 L) - O'Byrne (2 R) 5 Lefts, 3 Rights Total Cap: 18.4 Miller (6.25) Enroth (1.3) Total Cap: 7.5 Cap: 59.5 GM: Jim Nill (Detroit) Head Coach: Larry Robinson (San Jose PK - could be a huge help to Myers as well) Assistant Coaches: Tony Granato (Pittsburgh - Offense/PP), Patrick Roy (Quebec Remparts - defence) 2013 1st Round Pick: Barkov
  11. Scott played more than Grigo tonight
  12. I really don't like Gerbe's game. Defensively he sucks and offensively he ruined a 2 on 1 before it became a thing
  13. RR has given us an awful power play - worse than when under Ruff and we have given up loads of shorties. Nice to see Leo hasn't missed a step...truely awful on that play
  14. Am i wrong, or do we have Grigo on the second line and a real shut down line of Ott-Hecht-Kaleta
  15. Enroth struggles with rebound control
  16. Interesting idea: Could our defensive problems have something to do with the lack of right handed D men? Ehrhoff - Left Leopold - Left Brennan - Left Regehr - Left Sekera - Left Sulzer - Left Weber - Left Pardy - Left Myers - Right Vanek (right) - Coho (right) - Pommers (right) Ott (left) - Ennis (left) - Gerbe (left) Foligno (left) - Porter (left) - Flynn (right) Hecht (left) - Grigo (left) - Stafford (right) Scott (left) - Leino (left) Kaleta (right) Right handed players on the team Defence: 1/9 Offense: 6/15 I wonder if it has something to do with us getting stuck in our zones - most of the players are playing off wing, so have a weaker body position on the boards and passes are going to be harder. Only two wingers (Vanek and Gerbe) play off wing, but only 1/5 of our centres is right handed

    Plan B

    7. They've told others they will not trade their best young players: Jacob Markstrom, Erik Gudbranson, Jonathan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad.
  18. I think I still want Barkov. The big three have been so hyped I expect them to fall a little short of expectations - more of a Tavares than a Crosby. The thought of having a top 2-way centre (Toews) in Barkov makes me go weak at the knees. Our skating coach (and Gary Roberts) has worked wonders with Coho and even Grigo seems better, so that knock doesn;t bother me "A very calm center who uses his vision well, Barkov has an excellent offensive game and good size. His very good passing and puckhandling combined with great hands and hockey sense make him a big offensive threat. He plays with high confidence and never seems to be under pressure. Barkov is a creative with a very solid overall package and the skill set to compensate for his below-average skating, making him one of the top prospects for the 2013 NHL Draft."
  19. You said at minimum they should split time. A back-up needs to be able to play once every 4/5 games, that is a skill they need to learn, or they have to go to a lesser league to be a starter. Giving Enroth 10 games over the next 20 odd won't show if he can be a back up. I agree let him play more, we are completely out of the playoffs by now (considering if have had no major injuries - bar Leino - is really atrocious), but by more i mean give him 1/4 of the games.
  20. He is a soft forward who is defensively suspect. If we could trade for him and duct-tape him to Stafford it might work.
  21. Is popcorn a peasant's food because it is just corn kernels or is it a king's food because it has the highest mark-up or any food product and is like $50 a box now a days?
  22. But from Miller's point of view: He has worked hard this year and been let down a lot by his team, he is meant to be one of the three stars of this team and is meant to be the starting goaltender. Saying we want to see if Enroth can replace you, even though he hasn't played well enough to earn ice time in over a year is a huge ###### you. Why would you want to play for an organisation that literally wanted to replace you? How would Thomas Vanek feel if you said, you have been doing well this season, but we would like to give you 10 minutes a game ont he 4th line to see what Grigo can do. We don't have a Lou/Schnieder situation here, this would be worse than if the Kings told Quick he was going to sit half the games to see what Bernier can do

    Plan B

I used to love watching Detroit play because Lidstrom was incredible on the ice and I respected the organisation's ability to retain excellence. I have a soft spot for Calgary because they remind me of us, only in a much worse situation, and I love Iginla. I also like Nashville because of their ability to compete on a shoe-string budget. Sadly none of these teams seem to be doing too fantastically this year
  24. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=88978 Worst team in the league according to the mid-season review. The panthers are tied with us, but they have excuses
