  1. Advanced stats are wasted on people like you. Do you not understand that a team that lets 3+ 2-on-1s per game will give up more goals than a team that lets 3 2-on-1s per season? And thus the goalie will so better under the latter system? You cannot know what he is like in the locker room. In fact, normally teams think the goalie is a weird guy anyway and just shrug it off. Miller is miserable? Oh well he also likes having vulcanised rubber shot at him at 100+mph How does his work ethic suck? He has never looked poorly conditioned or overweight (lol)? Do you train with him? Effort is a funny thing, it is much easier to put it in if you notice an improvement. If you bust your ass and night after night your team lets you down, it is easy to decide not to put in 100% every night. His numbers are similar to Howards. Howard put those numbers up playing behind Lidstrom for half the game. Miller put those numbers up playing behind Tallinder.
  2. I'll reserve judgement for this trade deadline. I expect some moves. Maybe not Miller traded etc. but trading off UFAs/Stafford and getting a lot of high picks etc.
  3. Grigo said he was the most helpful player for his development. He has worn an C/A for more than 5 seasons. I don't see why anyone feels they know enough about a player to decide if they are or are not captain material.
  4. Grigs has two primary assists on the powerplay. Quebec is leading 2-1 after the first period
  5. Ron Rolston sucks. I want Lindy back. Hopefully we get a new coach in next season who uses our skill players properly
  6. I was really confused by that non-call. I normally don't blame reffing because it goes both ways. But three calls/non-calls stood out to me 1) Ehrhoff interference - in a 5min OT, that is a big call to make on a little play 2) Ennis hogs tie non-call 3) Weber being sat on - this could have been interference, holding or roughing and it was a legit hockey play apparently
  7. At the very least is depends on the deadline. If he is on the thin ice then he has one chance to redeem himself - a big move at the deadline and he could save his job. But I doubt he is on thin ice, he was just signed to a 5 year extension after all
  8. Miller let in 2 soft goals (weird one and wrap around) but also made some really nice saves - he has let in fewer soft goals this season Myers had a nice game I like Leino's game Why do we always lose leads? It is ridiculous. The first period was awesome, not so much the next two. Nice shot on the GWG
  9. Why is it an injustice? He is not playing badly, he is playing badly for a top 6 winger. He has the size and defensively responsibility to be a good bottom 6 guy. There is no injustice in him playing. The only player on could argue stole time away from Grigo is Gerbe, and that is because Gerbe is a defensively dodge skill guy. Even poor old bullied Hecht has played fantastically this season - for his role on the team. My problem with this move is not that I think it is the wrong move, but if you are going to do it, why not do it earlier. If the mentality is to give him a chance and see if he improves enough to stay, well he was never going to play himself into staying if he got 5 minutes a game with John Scott. Why not either send him down when RR took over (a.k.a when his ice time dropped by 42%) or keep him the whole season and give him 10-15 minutes including PP time
  10. OEL has been signed to a 6 year $33.5 million extension
  11. Also the fact we burnt a year of the contract means it will be cheaper to resign him when he is 21 instead of 22. That third year is often the big one
  12. I presume that as well. It also means he won't burn a year of UFAness
  13. How does this not make DR look like a screw up? He burnt a year of the guys contract and Grigo averaged 7:14 over the last 9 games (plus 3 scratched before that)
  14. Grigo Average TOI Under Ruff: 11:28 Grigo Average TOI Under Rolston 7:14 58% more ice time under Ruff I think I preferred the team under TG... Relies on Amerks making it to at least the second round Relies on Amerks making it to at least the second round
  15. He can't play in the AHL for another 15 months. I think the issue is more - why didn't he get NHL time? RR really screwed the guy. I agree 20mins in the Q is better than 5 in the NHL. But why didn't he get 10 in the NHL
  16. Why can't the team he is traded to just send him down? Also talk about overpayment for Ryan!
  17. I guess the press conference can shed more light on this? I'm not sure what the point of this is. I get why this timing. But why not earlier? If the last few games were a test, maybe give him more than 5 minutes
  18. He never did get to the 23 games mark - no coincidence they did this now
  19. I think it is quite comparable - they traded him in his third season, when he was 23. He is tall and a bit of a disappointment (mainly because he was a first overall pick though). Myers has ever so slightly better stats over the first 3 years. I would be careful to make a big decision like Myers, based on this season. He probably came in quite out of shape, having just got back from an ankle injury. And this season has been a bit unusual all round. EJ, McClement (solid defensive 3rd line C) and a first was traded for Stewart (23yo who had put up 60+ points before), Shattenkirk (22yo rookie playing very very well) and a second It is worth noting the Blues had drafted Peterangelo by that point I think it would be similar to this kind of trade: Myers, Porter, 3rd for Voynov, Bernier, 1st
  20. Same thing was true with Pronger. Maybe it is the switching teams, or maybe it was the player maturing and being expected to do too much too young - no way to really know. But i'd roll the dice on maturity (personally) And yes i was being sarcastic :P my favourite player of all time is Lidstrom and I don't hold toughness to the same ethereal standard others do around here
  21. I would give him PP time - a perfect chance for him to have fun playing with skilled players and not needing to worry about defence. Also our PP is last in the league by a considerable margin, so i see no harm in trying it I know! The .8ppg players are the worst!
  22. I agree, every Norris trophy winner of the past decade and shown toughness, leadership and puts anything that moves through the boards. That is absolutely what every elite defenseman does. The better the defenceman the more hospitalised the opponent
  23. One more I think
  24. I like it. I like the fact they are teaching him to be defensively responsible. Once he has found his feet and sound defensively think how good he will be. He will be a force to be reckoned with instantly. When I walk my dog to the park I have her on a leash to keep her under control and make sure she learns what i want of her; then when we are at the park, i take the lead off and she thunders off, but I don't need to worry about the roads around the park or her chasing other animals because she has been trained. Rather than letting his potential go all over the place they are focusing, controlling and directing it - i'm sure there is a comic book reference in here as well
