The offsides rule actually encourages attacking play, because it allows all 10 outfield players to move forward to more effective attacking roles, closer to the opponents goal, without having to worry about what's behind them. The offsides rule allows the defenders to get closer to the opponents goal, where they can make shorter, more effective passes in order to get into the offensive play. In American Football, there is a line of scrimmage that the offense must line up behind. The offense can not cross the line of scrimmage until the ball is snapped. In Soccer the line of scrimmage coincides with the last defender. The offense cannot cross the last defender until the ball is passed. If there were no line of scrimmage, the game would resemble a repetitive series of footraces. One goalie would kick the ball as far as he or she could to the other end of the field, where all of the other players would be waiting to intercept, or receive the pass. It would be a never ending series of Hail Mary's. The problem I see, is that a Hail Mary is easier to defend than it is to catch. It is difficult to possess a 60 yard pass with one's foot, or head, or chest. I could catch a 60 yard pass with my hands, but I would have difficulty controlling a 60 yard pass with any other part of my body, without giving a defender an opportunity to smash the ball back down the field, which we would all run after, as fast as we can, until it seems silly, and we quit the game after 10 minutes, let alone 120 minutes. The offsides rule, in Soccer, allows all 10 outfield players to distribute the running, and the passing sustainably over 90+ minutes. The rules of soccer, in my opinion, hold up well in comparison to other team sports.

Is Myers currently one of our 3 best players? I have Ennis, Stafford, and I guess Myers. Do we trade all three for draft picks? What if they retire? We should probably just buy out Myers contract to be safe.

Columbia, Netherlands, Argentina, and France are looking strongest to me. Columbia vs Argentina looks like the final to me, but I'm rooting for the Netherlands. I'd bet on Columbia, at this point.

I look at the recent price hikes as value, like cigarettes. I used to give 'em away for free, but now I just smoke 'em myself. They ain't cheap!

Armchair Psychiatrist on Draft Picks
I am Defecting replied to Ghost of Dwight Drane's topic in The Aud Club
I'd like to take the opportunity, Mr. Ghost, to congratulate you on your NHL predictions from last year. I think that bodes well for your predictions in this thread. There are men and women that make a living out of reading another being's "aura." It takes a trained eye, they say, but I think that there may be talent in the mind, as you have alluded to in this thread. I'm not yet convinced that Tim Murray has talent in evaluation. I mean, if he were keen at evaluation, why would he have accepted this role from LaFontaine? Or had he figured the Pegula system out beforehand? Or is he just making a lot of money and willing to go through the minimal efforts, such as drafting high picks with as few words as possible? You tell me Mr. Ghost, et al. Are they genuine hipster glasses, or empty frames? -
Moderate THIS, and while you Moderate THIS, I'm gonna tell you EXACTLY what I think of THIS decision. Me: Flavor Flav Nfreeman: Chuck D

Studs up stomp towards the opponents knee is generally a sending-off offense. So is biting someone.

I for one, believe in corporate hierarchy. It's a matter of fact, indeed. It's what made Regier sign Leino, and it's what will make Murray consult Pegula on every major decision. GMTM is nothing special, for one that believes in corporate hierarchy.- 254 replies

Well, if there is one thing to be learned from free agency, its that you can save yourself the embarrassment of being rejected, by not pursuing free agents at all. If fact, the same goes for women. Shhhh!!! (I have the blueprint!!!)

Big problem, also with poor folk from the rural and city country is that they get bored. Not such a big problem with rich folk, because it's very interesting to spend money. Think about it. Money equals vacations; Lack of money equals slavery. For all you non-skiers, if you've ever had a chance to get out of Buffalo in the winter to someplace sunny, it probably means a lot to you. You get to go someplace sunny, plan for it, and bask in it, and it goes a long way. Poor people can't afford bus tickets, much less save enough money to buffer a week away from work. Therefore, they get no vacation. Eventually, they get burnt out and demoralized with the monotony and lack of diversity in their everyday experience. The same thing goes for money and diet. Lack of money equals poor nutrition. For all you non-foodies, if you've ever had a chance to go out to a nice restaurant with interesting food, it probably means a lot to you. The planning, eating, and reflecting upon lasts more than a meal You can brag about what you can eat, if you can afford the food. The idea of good food can be tied to health and can be tied to self-esteem. People that get food stamps, well, if they were to rely on food stamps for their food, the maximum amount is about $190 per person, per month. There aren't any loopholes. For example, if you were to buy $190 of tea bags and throw them into the Boston Harbor, that would just be a big waste of your $6.33 per day. If you were to throw your food stamps into the river, that would just be a big waste of your $2.11 per meal. That money would go into the river, and not back into the local economy. Throwing the food stamps into the river would be a lot like cutting food stamps, 'cause it would be hurting the local economy, except that it would also be hurting poor people. A lot of rich people think that it is cool to throw food stamps into the river. They like to brag about how cool it is to throw the food stamps into the river, while hurting the local economy, while starving poor people.

If God really is so smart, that he would find the fact that 'son' sounds like 'sun' is temporarily funny. God would also find it cute that we have attributed human characteristics to his celestial creations, like the stars and planets, since the dawn of man. I think that this whole 'son of man' savior joke, versus "sun of man" God thing would be right up his mysterious alley, or even a sly jibe at him by Mother Earth. Mothers are very protective, so she would be always looking to knock him down a peg or two by brainwashing his/her creation, man, into thinking that he, the Sun, wasn't all that, even if it meant that little Man thinks he's more important than the Sun, his father. For example, who is more currently famous: Justin Bieber or Orion? Mother Earth is laughing at the answer.

One shouldn't be consulting the founding fathers on any issue, unless one considers oneself their peer. Otherwise, one should be citing the founding fathers, and leave the consultation to trained accredited early american historical mediums. I think that poverty in the rural country is just as bad as poverty in the city country. That means that poor white folks are just as bad off as poor black folks I think that if they teamed up together, they would be formidable. Teaming up the under-privileged is is kind of what Democrats are trying to do, if you think about it. I think that any smart poor person can see that Republicans have the mentality of a slave master, as in, yeah, we've got WORK for you, and PROFITS will follow us.

I just had a revelation about me and the Universe, but I'm too embarrassed to begin an old religion thread. It's been many many years since I did acid, but this is one of those moments, those moments that Timothy Leary talked about when he spoke of being one with the Universe, as a result of doing acid, but I think that it might be unrelated to drug use. It's been well over 10 years, so I think that the statute of limitations is up, and any old Sabres fan might be open to such fantasy. Here's what I'm saying - that it is all related to the Sun. I think about the things that I eat: veggies, grains, meat, and they give me sustenance, but they all go back in some way directly to the photosythetic energy that they get from the Sun. The Sun is the top, or the Father, if you will. The bottom is the Mother or the Earth, and I suppose the positions could be reversed on occasion. The Sun and the Earth combine to create every gosh dang thing that I've ever imagined besides the Stars... So in that light, I wonder if there was some sort of confusion with Jesus being the "Son of God." Don't get me wrong, I think he's amazing, but these miracles that are spoken of pale in comparison to the Sun itself. In it's absence, the Sun would seem brighter that Jesus' healing a leper. The miracle of the Sun, which is taken for granted, would make Jesus carrying the cross less than invisible. In its absence, Jesus would have nothing to walk upon, and the cross was wood, so imagine that! Perhaps we get confused by the Son/Sun thing currently, and perhaps we got confused by creating human personalities for every celestial being that we've noticed throughout history. All I am saying, is that the Sun is the real grand poopah, and the Earth is probably a big deal to chicks. If we realized that fact, we may not get laid, but we might feel like we did. And if we worshiped the Sun, and gave the Earth the good lovin' it deserved, that we would win the Stanley Cup for De/Infinite!!!

(OT) Confirmed: Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban leaders at Gitmo
I am Defecting replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
I would be glad if the 5 released Taliban were my 5 close brothers. I would teach my 5 brothers how to grow 5 different crops, so they would not be hungry. I would teach them how to build shelter, so they will not be cold. Day by day, I would teach them how to become a sustainable nation again. It may take years, so I will also teach them to sell heroin and marijuana to American soldiers, so that they will get through the tough times, before becoming sustainable. When the Americans burn their poppy/marijuana fields I will vanish. 5 years will pass. My 5 brothers will end up in Guantanamo. -
I will blast the poop out the mouth of your compliance, if that is what you DO NOT desire, Mr. GoDD. JK, I kid. More likely you will blast the poop out of MY non-compliance, when I least suspect it. Because... Bwahahahahaaaa!!! 10. Connolly was my favorite player. 11. I may have worshiped Satan for a couple years.

More of a Mustard Tiger, if you ask me..."Sole Mania, Mustard, Perreault, Hotdogs, ETC." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGfUB58gaYw I think that the ladder is symbolic, for the more philosophic among you... ;) We've seen this story before: PA Wildcatter gets Bitchslapped by NY Savycats. Long time ago, we decided that it would be better for the People to own the Gold beneath the ground, and it should be no different with the Natural Gas. It really sucks when someone tries to tug your heartstrings with your sportsteams. Specially when it's a PA gangster. #NYState

I think that I can speak for All Buffalonians, when I say that Amerk, and Drunkard, and Campy have graduated from whatever NYC purgatory they may have been languishing in and can now flourish as true Buffalonians. There are many current posters that I haven't granted such privileges, and that is because I am not some sort of grand poopah that goes about granting privileges about Buffalo. If it were my job, though, I'd be wondering what job Ed Kilgore is actually doing right now. That would be my 9-5. Ed Kilgore moved up to what job for East Management Resources in Pittsburgh? Ed Killmore? I'd revoke Ed Killmore's posting privilege if it were my job, but you'd all be safe.

Soccer (Football) ~ Everything About The Beautiful Game
I am Defecting replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
I think that a draw against Portugal is unrealistic. I think that a draw against Ghana is realistic. No way we make it through, nor do we deserve that honor. If the United States took "soccer" seriously we could dominate. It's no surprise that we are more concerned with hitting ourselves in the heads with helmets though. We are wery, wery, good of hitting each other in the heads with helmets. Mow and mow we hit each other in heads and tougher we get. London and Toronto drink heavily too. Lots in common. -
I'd like to talk about the basics first, food, shelter, and water. 1. For shelter, my dream is to have a well-placed apartment in the city, and a home or cottage in the country. I am about to fulfill this dream, but now that I'm close to attaining it, I've still got the idea of moving up in both directions. Ever upward, excelsior, man is never content, but it's going to be cool. Buffalo, and its countryside might be the coolest, but it's a chicken or the egg thing with me. Do I live there because Buffalo is cool?, or is Buffalo cool, because I live there??? 2. For food, I could be a pescatarian. I love sardines, and I love citrus fruit. I've worked as an organic farmer for 7 years, and believe that Lake Erie will provide us food in my lifetime, and I think that the whole Jesus fish and bread thing was a metaphor for the most important, healthy, and efficient foods. Also, salad is best with 3 chicken wings hidden on the bottom. 3. For water, I've been drinking selzer water, sometimes mineral water, for about ten years. Why isn't there just a guy that comes out to your house to fill your c02 tank so that your drinking tap is carbonated? OK, now that I've covered the basics, I am going to get more personal. 4. I've not been incarnated this time as a Russian, or as a Ukranian, but like a lot of other Buffalonians, I'm a mix of German, Irish, and English heritage. I was a Russian minor in college, this time around, so that gave Yuri a chance to reconnect with the past and connect with the present. I have a lot of experience with Shakespeare, but I've got a lot of affinity for Steinbeck, and I've been mired in the lower working classes for over a decade. If I were more of a Lenin, I might have made something of myself, but here I am in comments section!!! 5. I lived in St Petersburg, Russia for 6 months, but I lived in a semi-communistic setting in Buffalo for over a year in the past. I think that the Buffalo setting was more communistic, as we had weekly meetings and made decisions by a modified consensus. We shared our money and food, and it was like the MTV Real World with slightly less narcissism. So, Allentown communism is more hardcore, and Russian communism is just heavy lameass socialism. 6. For many years, I've been fascinated with growing food, but I don't even feel that I've mastered my own personal diet, and I am convinced than one man can not grow his own food, and that a food utopia would be best with careful planning across an entire state. Now I am going to cross the line, and become dangerous and vulnerable. 7. I loved growing marijuana on a semi-professional basis for a year and a half. I was good at it, and it was SOO rewarding, but when I had a child, I had to get out of the game, YET, I do not think that it is wrong, I just could not justify the potential of getting fined or arrested, yet I quit entirely, and don't smoke it anymore. 8. I think that I was targeted by some entities for my anti-fracking message board posts in early 2013 on sabrespace.com. I think that this targeting ended immediately after Snowden took flight, so I'm glad for that dude. I think he had brass balls, and I feel indebted to him. I ended up in psychiatric evaluation just before the Snowden thing, but I've always thought that mental health is can be more important than physical health, and it can most def. lead to total health. 9. I honestly think that Pegula has early ties to the mafia, but that the oil/gas game is a thing unto itself. I think that certain people have certain thought patterns, but have different moral compasses, so that bad motha######as can be on the side of good, or on the side of evil. I'm a bad motha######a on the side of good, so me and T-Pegs will have to work it out in the steel cage of Time.

Soccer (Football) ~ Everything About The Beautiful Game
I am Defecting replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Haha, we are talking about Landon Donovan like he is important. ######. All Americans are considered imports, which is why we claimed Pele, long ago, so we would not have to talk about Landon Donovan as globally important in 2014. BTW, Clint Demsey is WAY BETTER. Klinsmann still rules!
