  1. yeah, I mentioned this in an earlier post - I agree with you - he's one of the better players technically - and has good puck control. When he passes the puck, it's usually spot on.
  2. There was no penalty when the Hawks shoved Franzen into the boards behind the Chicago net - which left Franzen laying stunned on the ice, and allowed Kane to score the one and only Chicago goal. What do you want to bet - if Kaleta executes the exact same play, Kaleta gets a double-minor or major..... and a possible review suspension by Crapahan! The league is SO inconsistent in penalty calling it's disgusting.
  3. On another forum, while he still wore the blue and gold, I recall that Connolly was humorously deemed "The cancer that's killing the Sabres". Although the Sabres did cut out that particular cancer, the prognosis is even more grim now - the cancer apparently metastasized before it could be removed, and spread to other members of the roster.
  4. Did anyone see this woman butcher the American National Anthem during the Memorial Cup? Reminds me of Lt. Frank Drebbin's rendition in "The Naked Gun" Play her off, Keyboard Cat..... end the suffering - lmao!!!!
  5.   PS - I am glad they kept Scott on the team.... his puck handling actually is better than a lot of the other players. I suppose that's not saying much, but.... :)
  6. Who would have thought the all-powerful Blackhawks would lose two in a row to a Red Wings team who just squeaked into the post-season, and end up trailing in the series? Red Wings are obviously intent on making a series out of it.
  7. With Roy and Pominsteen gone,we got rid of a lot of our creampuffs. I'm dreading Tyler Myers and Drew Staphford on the same line next year... unless the goal is to have the line with the worst plus/minus in human history, past, present and future.
  8. Yeah, that was awesome work by the Sens. After the crappy penalty with 90 seconds left, and Ottawa's best offensive player in the box, I figured the Pens had it locked up. But in the last minute, all the Pens on the PK collectively decided to put on their best impression of our Chief Woodenlegs, Tyler Myers - skating around aimlessly and lazily, not pushing themselves, and dumbing themselves down to double-digit ice IQs.... Ottawa was like 'screw this - we're putting it in the net!" and they did!
  9. Agree with TBP once again. Heck I care about the Sabres but you sure wouldn't want me out there on the first line - lmao!!!!! I've never even ice-skated!
  10. hahaha, it was "X-Pac" too. I remember in the late 90s, the online pro-wrestling community really busted hard on X-Pac..... there used to be chants of "X-Pac SUCKS!!!!" in the stadiums. Great to see that video of "heel-turn" Stephanie McMahon and Triple-H while they were 'running' the WWF. I used to love that schlock - got old after a while - I haven't watched 'wrasslin' in many years, but used to be good for a lot of laughs.... especially Jerry Lawler's 'sucking up' commentary.
  11. I agree with TBP. I like Mike Weber - but would he even qualify as a 1st line d-man on the NHL teams that made it to the quarterfinals of the playoffs this year? I think we need a more talented player in the role as Captain.
  12. Wow, what a choke job by the Sharks in the last 3 minutes of the 2nd LA game. Two stupid penalties back to back crushed them.
  13. ^^^^ haha!! I'm a VERY positive guy, actually..... i.e., I'm positive things are gonna suck!
  14. Just got a text from WGR...Whaley officially announced as GM, as if there was still any question of that. The 3 year cycle officially starts TODAY. May 16th, 2016 - Bills announce their new GM, and tell the fans they're really extra serious about rebuilding this time!
  15. Wow, 18 to 9 - the 9 by Detroit is inflated a bit by the 2 minutes of empty net at the end in desperation time. As bun mentioned, it was something like 17-5 before the final 2 minutes. And it's not like it's the Sabres making 18 shots on a goal with their softees - think of the scoring powerhouses on the Blackhawks - Kane, Toews, Saad, et al..... Having them pounding at your goalie, a much higher probability of a goal being scored than a lesser team. Hawks put 18 SOG in just the 3rd - Detroit only had 21 in the entire 60 minutes! That being said - The Wings' Abdelkader is pretty damn good at keeping the puck - a lot of times he was by himself behind the Chicago net - just fighting for, and keeping control, of the puck. But Chicago's defense was keeping the rest of the Red Wing's offense ineffective. Thanks for that - it was about that before they pulled Jimmy Howard.
  16. Yeah, the only reason that game was close was Jimmy Howard. 41 shots against, and 38 saves. Crawford only had 21 shots against, in comparison. I can't find a period by period break out in terms of shots, but Chicago almost totally shut down Detroit's very good offense in the 3rd. I was amazed it was still 1-1 so late in the 3rd. However, Chicago dominated offensively in the 3rd - no matter how good the goalie, you can't let those sharpshooters keep taking shots at your goalie - inevitably they'll get by him into the net, and they did.
  17. Nice to see Regehr enjoying some success. Kings must think he's a good asset for the D - he's played every game, and been averaging 21 minutes of ice time per game in the post season so far.
  18. ^^^^hahaha!!!!
  19. I was at the gym last night and unfortunately someone turned on the hockey game on the ceiling mount big screen and I got to see a couple minutes of the OT and the Leafs' loss - disgusting! To make matters worse, some college student - probably a down-stater - who was at the gym was all excited and ebullient because Boston won. Hopefully by end of week all the college students will be GONE - as graduation is this weekend. With any luck the Boston fan is graduating and I'll never see him again.
  20. I was just checking stats - in plus minus, Stafford ranks almost at the very bottom - 722 out of 730 offensive players in the entire league. And only 6 goals in 46 games - that's abysmal for a guy pulling down the salary he does. Maybe Regier should just consider it cutting his losses and trade him for a loss? Who cares??? Yeah, it's a great ego-stroking thing for Darcy to say he got this great trade, and he robbed another team or whatever. But the OVER-ARCHING goal is to build a winning team! The owner of the team - the guy writing the checks - has said HIS over-arching goal is to build a winning team. And you're not gonna do it with dead-wood like Stafford on the roster. Get him out of there! Regier shouldn't just sit there dreaming wistfully of a pot o' gold in return for Stafford - cut him loose, and start to mend the team!
  21. Ahhh, good. The latest 3 year (or so) cycle of the Bills first hiring, and then discarding sub-standard coaches and GMs has at last completed itself. New GM/Coach about when? 2016? 2017? Will they still be 'rebuilding' then?
  22. So when can we reasonably expect Stafford to go? - July? It's been a month since the last post in this topic and he's still on the roster - he's like a stubborn dose of clap that's hard to treat. I'll probably do an Irish Jig as soon as I get the text from WGR stating that he's gone.
  23. The Society's mascot -
  24. If only the Sabres could have gotten Callahan, especially since he's a western New Yorker. Of course, I keep having the same wistful thoughts about Patrick Kane.... a Buffalonian.
  25. Really? The first thing I thought was.... "Oh goodie, ANOTHER Pominville fanboy crawls out of the woodwork, pining endlessly over his departure!"
