  1. I think it's far too early in the season to declare they're the worst Sabres team of all. They're down there though.... and if they lose tonight against the Islanders I think it might officially be their worst start in franchise history. They'll probably win, and thus remain mired in mediocrity - not even able to excel at being bad.
  2. The actual statistics are the Bills lost in overtime. Had the Bills converted the 3 points in the first half, the game would not have gone to overtime as the Bills would have had the lead at the end of regulation. That's the only statistics that are truly relevant. What are the "made up statistics" exactly? The Marrone defenders seem to want to hang their hats on the fact that those 3 points might have caused both the Bills and the Bengals to play differently somehow, and some strange "Butterfly Effect" would have resulted from history being changed. The next assumption is that "playing differently" would have been automatically to the benefit of the Bengals. I pointed out that quite the opposite might have been the case - the Bengals having a successful 4-down goalline stand might have invigorated and motivated the Bengals. It's also possible had the Bills tied the game at that juncture, the Bengals would have lacked the momentum and fire to drive for a touchdown on their next possession. Perhaps the Bills win by 10 points at the end of regulation?
  3. I like to apply Occam's Razor - i,e, the simplest explanation is the best. The Bills had an opportunity, with likely a 95% probability of success, of converting their position at the 1 yd line into a field goal and 3 points. 3 more points and the Bills would have won the game. The logic is inescapable, except to possibly Marrone fan-boyz. It was especially stupid, given the fact the Bills had tried the same last week and failed in a similar fashion Compounding the stupidity, was the blind devotion to running the ball up the middle, not even mixing in a pass play in the first 3 downs. Do we really think the Bengals would have played better or differently in the 2nd half had the teams been tied at the half, vs the Bengals protecting a meager 3 point lead??? If anything, the Bills allowing the Bengals a successful goal line stand, holding the Bills to ZERO points, helped the morale of the Bengals appreciably.
  4. Bills are now 2-4. Sportsclubstats now has their chance of making the playoffs this season as only 4.2%. How many years would that make since the Buffalo Bills have had a post-season appearance? 14 years? http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NFL.html What's astonishing - Darcy Regier was into, what, his THIRD season when the Bills lost their Music City Miracle playoff game? Astonishing how inept Buffalo sports are - a losing hockey GM retained for 17 seasons and counting in the same city where the football franchise is setting records for futility.
  5. The Bills could have tied the game with a chip shot field goal at that point. It was a horrendous decision to give away points. That's 6 points in the last two games the Bills have basically given away. Additionally, the play calls for that entire series of downs were horrendous. Ball at 1 yd line and goal, and keep running up the middle for 3 downs in a row without mixing it up? Just stupid!
  6. Marrone = MORON! Bills would have won had they kicked the field goal in the first half instead of going for it on 4th and goal. He did the same last week and the Bills came away with no points on a 4th down in FG range! Media and fans need to get in that guy's grill and hold him fully accountable and responsible for his game losing coaching error.
  7. I think the Bills win today, as long as the Bills don't turn it over. Bungles are over-rated.
  8. Maybe Bills could get Fitzpatrick back from the Tennessee Titans? One game with him starting for the injured Jake Locker, and I think they've already had their fill of him. Guy is dependable - you can trust Blitzpatrick to cough up the ball when it counts - he threw two picks in the 4th quarter and ended up with a 57 passer rating.
  9. Haha, what an idiot. The puck wouldn't have even come anywhere near the net if he hadn't deflected it. It's trajectory would have taken it about 4 ft right of the side of the net. He should have just picked up his stick and ignored the puck. Quick always seems to get burned when he comes out of the net - LOL
  10. Fitzpatrick played today EXACTLY consistently with how he played for 3 1/2 years as the Bills starter. Terrible. A 57.7 rating. His throws are inaccurate - even many of his completed passes, they were thrown low or behind the receiver. And not much point in having him launch it downfield - I noticed today the Titan receiver had to slow down appreciably to allow the ball to reach him on a deep pass. That allowed the pass coverage to break it up. Astonishing the Titans paid as much as they did to pick him up - he's not 2nd string - he's 3rd string caliber. Hell, even the RAMS cut him loose before the Bills picked him up. And amazingly, it took Bumbling ole' Buddy Nix an extra year or two longer than it did sports writers and Bills fans to come to the realization that Fitzpatrick was not the Bills franchise QB. And that extra delay resulted in the Bills passing up some far superior QB drafting opportunities, and then finally drafting during a poor QB class, instead of either drafting BEFORE 2013, or waiting until 2014.
  11. LOLOLOL!!!!!
  12. I will miss Roby! It won't be the same with both him and Rick gone. It's probably just a coincidence that he announced his retirement almost immediately after a crappy Buffalo performance in the season opener.
  13. Well, one fortunate thing - if they do bring in Freeman -he's got a few extra days to prepare since the Bills have a long week off due to the Thursday night game.
  14. That's brutal news for Bills fans. Unfortunately the bye week isn't until Thanksgiving. And the schedule is tough - Cincy, Miami, New Orleans and KC are the next 4 games. Those wouldn't have been any duckwalk with Manuel in the pocket. Although I question if Manuel is *the* franchise QB, and these frequent knee-injuries make that even more a question, it's undeniable that Manuel is significantly better than Tuel. If Manuel misses those 4 games, it could be 4 straight losses with someone else stepping in as QB. What was Bills management thinking, not having any decent backup QB on the roster? Unfortunately, I think the odds just plummeted with Manuel missing 2-4 games.
  15. The NFL Network announcers talked about this stat last night - teams that start 2-3 only reach the playoffs 21% of the time. So already the Bills have only a 1 in 5 chance of actually making the playoffs, after an ongoing record playoff drought.
  16. Manuel had a huge improvement over his last game until he took himself out of the game by trying to dazzle us with his Emmitt Smith imitation - up to a mediocre 74 from a pitiful 48
  17. Mis-wrote - I meant within the last year - which would have included Luck, RG3, Wilson, and even Tannehill.
  18. EJ Manuel's injury was unnecessary and dumb. He had the 1st down by a comfortable margin - but he tried running for more and paid the price. The guy's on-field intelligence is not impressive. Kind of reminds me of another guy with the same number of letters in his name - JP Losman.
  19. Bob Mathews, long time sports caster on WHAM1180 in Rochester, has been very critical of Buddy Nix's leaping onto the EJ Manuel bandwagon since the day of the draft. I'd say that Bob's early and continuing criticisms remain spot-on. Even in victory on Sunday, Manuel's passer rating was a BRUTAL 48! I saw the game - he made JP Losman look poised and confident in comparison. Yeah he's a rookie, but there are other rookie QBs this year who look better already. The team won in spite of being handicapped by EJ Manuel. The bad news - Spiller is out, and Freddie Jackson looked hurt as well - those guys aren't going to survive the season taking up the slack on the ground for Manuel and the lack of effective passing offense.
  20. Well, that was an ugly game. Manuel ended up with a dismal 71.8 passer rating in a game that the Jets tried MIGHTILY to give to the Bills to win, via terrible game play. Geno Smith threw 2 picks, and the Jets amassed a whopping 20 penalties for 168 yards. And yet still the Bills managed to lose. The same problems that have plagued the Buffalo Bills franchise for years now, were still evident in today's loss -Red-zone futility - 0 for 3 in the Red Zone. Bills had to settle again and again for field goals instead of touchdowns. Gave me a feeling of Deja Vu watching - where have I seen this before? Hmm? - Poor to non-existent run defense - the Bills gave up a huge 182 yds rushing to the Jets. - Sieve-like offensive line and inability to protect the passer; Manuel was sacked EIGHT times today - amazing that he didn't end up injured, or fumbling. His ball security is commendatory. Even when not sacked, most of the time he was scrambling to avoid the sack. He's not going to remain uninjured for long if the line lets him get sacked this many times in a game. - poor passing - as mentioned before, Manuel had a poor 71.8 passer rating today. While no quarterback is going to be at their best with such pressure from the Jets defense, when he did throw downfield, the throws just looked bad - they floated, and were usually uncatchable - a yard or two out of bounds. It's only his third game, I'm just not seeing the glimmers that he's going to be a true "franchise quarterback" - time of possession disparity - the Jets had the ball almost 10 minutes longer than the Bills, even with all those penalties. All that rushing yardage, and the Bills not able to make stops when they needed to - poor pass defense - Number 26 - nothing more really needs to be said - lack of depth - some injuries and the offense gets even worse - despite all the gift-wrapped penalty yardage from the Jets. - receivers that can't get open - The poor passing today was not all on Manuel's play or the offensive line's poor pass protection - a bunch of times on replay, there were no receivers open for Manuel to throw to. Only 3 game into the season, and they're already 0-2 in the division, and at the bottom of the AL East. Is this team ever going anywhere with Ralph Wilson Jr as the owner, and a bean-counter/marketing guy like Russ Brandon calling the shots?
  21. Knee procedure? Ouch! He could be done for a lot longer than the pre-season. The regular season starts in about 3 weeks. Ladies and Gentlemen of Buffalo, preeee-senting your Franchise QB. LOLOLOL!!!!! You know, I watched that first pre-season Bills game - and I was very impressed with Manuel..... it seemed too good to be true for the Bills to have a REAL quarterback after 10 years of friggin' SCRUBS..... Rob Johnson, JP Loseman, Trent Edwards, Ryan Blitzpatrick..... and where are they now? LOLOL At any rate - it seemed too good to be true -and it WAS too good to be true. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my best friends is a hardcore Bills fan - he was so happy after that first pre-season game- can't wait to rib him about Manuel. :)
  22. Is he gone yet?
  23. Wake me up when he's gone. Then perhaps I will think our long Buffalo nightmare is nearing it's end.
  24. I hope we have world peace, and that we find the secret to faster than light travel. .
  25. Yep. Not impossible - but exceedingly unlikely. As Bullwinkle mentioned, the guy is the face of the Washington Capitals. They're not gonna let him walk unless his game play goes south. And if his game-play goes south, why would the Sabres want him?
