  1. BTW, Poor Stafford seems snake bit. When he does score a goal, the team never seems to win.
  2. The tank doesn't appear to be in any danger at this juncture. What is it now? 5 games in a row where the Sabres score 3 goals, and not a single win? Amazing.
  3. I got the texts from WGR - Browns have announced Pettine as their new HC. The Bills always seem to take 1 step forward, and then 2 steps backward it seems.
  4. ESPN doesn't track hits as part of the player stats, but this site does. Kind of interesting. Otter and Weber are up pretty high on the Hit List. That's probably the biggest difference I've seen in the Sabres under Ted Nolan- game seems a lot more physical http://www.sportingc...tatistics/2013/ Now we just need to get Ted some better talent, that can get score. EDIT - I sorted the above site by team, and looked at the Sabres. Among regular Sabres players, playing more than 20 games this season, our old buddy the Thin Finn, Ville Leino, has the lowest average hits per game - 0.47. It wouldn't be so bad if he actually contributed offensively, but that slug is a complete waste of ice time. No goals, only 6 points, and is a -8. He doesn't even try - Ted outta just bench his useless ass until we can get rid of him in the off-season. I get angry every time I see 23 skating around out there, because he handicaps the entire line he's playing on - it's like having 4 1/2 players on ice, instead of 5.
  5. My overall impression of Hodgson is that he's a slightly less soft version of Jason Pominville, and that impression is supported by the stats so far this year. Hodgson has played 37 games this season, and amassed 24 points for an average of 0.65 points per game played. Pommers has played 51 games, and tallied 33 points, for an average of 0.65 points per game. Their offensive output per game is almost identical. And so far this year, Hodgson is averaging 0.57 hits per game, versus Pominville's ever so soft 0.31 hits per game. Hodgson is still quite soft, just not so much as Captain Creampuff.
  6. That call right there could have changed the outcome of the game. But who knows? Kaepernick seemed intent on giving the ball back to Seattle,
  7. Torts expressed regrets over putting Lain in that situation - apparently his parents had flown there to watch their son in his first NHL start too. But Torts may not have figured Calgary was going to drop all the gloves in the first 2 seconds either. They clearly started the whole brawl. I love how McGrattan roughly grabs his own assistant coach by the head and face to try to keep him out of trouble- LOL
  8. No worries. The Bills have their franchise QB now - Flea J Manuel. Exactly - he clearly had possession when he was on the ground and in contact with Seattle players. Terrible call. And the non-roughing the kicker call - the Seattle guy hunkered down and aimed his shoulder right at the guy's ankle. The officials somehow missed that too. Did the NFL hire WWF officials to work these games? A number of calls such as that, seemingly all in one team's favor, makes me question the legitimacy of the NFL's officiating.
  9. The probability is good that his decline would begin next season, between the age of 34 and 35. Best to make a move while his stock is still high.
  10. Miller should be traded. He'll be 34 in July, his best days are clearly behind him, his performance will only start a slow and steady decline with each season. And he's the most visible, highest profile tie to the old Regier/Ruff regime. In Roman times, when a new emperor came to power, he purged just about everyone. T-Pegs tried to be a little too kind and gentle, which makes the pain linger. Better to end it quickly.
  11. I'm so sorry, and I understand. I had to put my own dog to sleep almost 9 years ago - he started having seizures, and ended up with one he wasn't going to come out of. One of the toughest days of my life.
  12. I just had a "Holy Crap" moment in realizing we're ~ 1 month away from the 2 year anniversary of this trade. Time flies when you're having fun - or not having fun. LOL
  13. Thanks! haha! Probably not saying much, but Stafford is significantly more effective on the ice then Leino. Leino is virtually useless. He's as easy to knock over as a kewpie doll, and as fragile as a China doll. And we're halfway thru the season, and John Friggin Scott has scored more goals than LAME-o. Is Leino officially the worst contract in Sabres' history?
  14. Imagine if Buffalo had Drew Brees, and cut him, ala San Diego? The wailing and gnashing of teeth would have been great - however, Phillip Rivers > any Buffalo QB since the Flutie era, so it probably makes it a little more palatable for the Bolts fans.
  15. I can't recall the last time a game was postponed due to weather.
  16. Some teams do a lot better at QB than Buffalo, that's for sure. In addition to the Colts, Green Bay had the legendary Brett Farve.... and who was his backup? Aaron Rogers. And of course the 49'ers - When Joe Montana called it quits, the 49'ers had to 'fall back' on Steve Young. And now they have Kaepernick. Since Jim Kelly, the Bills have had..... yeah, nevermind.
  17. He probably won't be available, but even if he is - Although his performance in the Chik-Fil-A Bowl was off the chart, I suspect he'll get crushed in the NFL given the overall size and strength increase in the defensive players doing the hitting. The elite QBs in the NFL seem to be fairly conventional - predominately throwers vs runners. RG3 was very impressive at first - but he has taken a pounding.
  18. I'd say the evidence is in favor of those stating that Manuele isn't a franchise QB player. We certainly didn't see franchise-caliber play from him this year, and he also proved injury prone. The pro Manuele fans pretty much rest their case on maybes. Maybe he'll do this, maybe he'll do that. I'm from Missouri - SHOW me! I didn't think his draft report showed him to be the QB that the Bills wanted or needed, and I saw NOTHING this season that suggested he will exceed his draft report. But old Buddy Nix HAD to draft a QB that year, during a very poor QB year- couldn't be 2012 or 2014 or 2015. HAD to be then. Big strategic error on the part of the Bills - but what else is new? It seems like many player personnel decisions are slanted towards marketing, and filling some seats for a few months, more than building a championship team.
  19. Wait, I thought you had embraced the Tank? Can't have it both ways. ;) Seriously, the cost-effectiveness of tankless DHW (domestic hot water) is linked to the size of your family and overall hot water usage. If it's only 1 or 2 people, or you travel frequently, it's probably cheaper to stay with a conventional tank water heater. However, if you do go with a replacement tank DHW heater, get the best energy factor (EF) available. Get at least an energy factor of 0.65. What that means - an energy factor of 0.65 means the DHW heater is basically 65% efficient overall - which is a combination of the burner's combustion efficiency, AND stand-by heat loss when the DHW heater is standing idle.
  20. The Bills' 3-year cycle of fail is pretty much a given. Whether it's a coach or a QB or whatever.... keep 'em at least 3 years. Notice too that our higher ranking castoffs (QBs, coaches, etc) tend to never land or hold a job as high-ranking as the one they held for the Buffalo Bills. Dick Jauron? Mike Mularkey? Chan Gailey? Trent Edwards? JP Losman? Ryan Fitzpatrick? The only two exceptions in that brief hall of Shame I just listed were Mularkey and Edwards, but they didn't hold those jobs very long. That kind of tells me that the only team in the league that would have ever put them in such an important position is the Buffalo Bills. That is sad beyond imagining, and demonstrates how chronically mis-managed and poorly run the operation is. I have zero faith that Russ Brandon can turn it around - heck, he's been in key leadership positions at One Bills Drive during the team's last decade of decline and stagnation. The higher the position Brandon has held - the worse the on-field product has been. I don't view this as an accidental coincidence. Does anyone reasonably expect that to change now that he's top dog, with Ralph Wilson Jr. providing him "guidance" behind the scenes?
  21. Manuele's play, when he wasn't hurt, confirmed this drafting report assessment quite well, I thought. http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2013emanuel.php Strengths: Dual-Threat Quarterback Powerful arm Excellent mobility Size and strength Escapability Experienced Quick release Weaknesses: Not a natural passer Decision-making Field vision Struggles to work through progressions Runs to quickly Spotty accuracy Can panic at times Didn't play as well against good defenses And the problem I've seen with these running QBs is that they tend to be injury prone, especially when they don't protect themselves. Manuel's first regular season injury plays into the bullet point "Decision making" - he ran for a first down, ok fine, he had the first down - a SMART QB steps out of bounds, especially knowing you have CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson for the dedicated running attack, but he made a bad decision to try and hammer down the sidelines like a running back for extra yards. And he got nailed and injured. So, you have a running QB who isn't quite smart enough to protect himself - and that's a formula in my estimation for frequent appearances on the IR list.
  22. One thing about the Buffalo Bills that never changes - Mediocrity is usually given at least a 3 year tenure. Hire a substandard whatever (coach, player, ad nauseum) and they linger around for a minimum of 3 years before the next sub-standard replacement is brought in. The one exception was Mike Mularkey - and that was his choice to resign. LOL
  23. I agree - keep Manuel another year - who knows? Maybe he would improve? But fix the other more glaring problems with the team that need to be fixed Offensive line is kind of weak Run defense - obviously horribly weak - RBs from other teams must love what the Bills do for their stats! WRs.... Stevie Johnson is not the answer - send him to the Titans to play with Fitzputrid. Special Teams - not so special. Depth - in general, something the Bills still lack.
  24. Yeah, and it hurts the team to have a supposed offensive player like Leino who is completely UN-productive on the ice, spending time on the ice. If there were a better player on the ice, subbing for his 13 minutes of ice time, who knows how last night's Leafs' game might have turned out? For cryin out loud, we're closing in on the half-way point of the season, and now even John Scott has scored more goals this year than Leino!
