Canada men's team is probably on a high from the women's team's huge comeback, and women's Team USA meltdown late in the 3rd. I blame the American women.
-
Canada so far showing better patience, better puck control, better puck handling....
-
This PP started out poorly - looked like a Ruffton/Sabres PP
-
They can't seem to keep sustained pressure - it's one and done, like that last shot.
-
2 Americans in front of the net and still couldn't capitalize on a rebound opportunity in that PP.
-
Well, that sucks. Amazing that the USA has been shut out so far - I thought they wanted a Gold Medal!? They aren't gonna get one that way.
-
Team USA needs to turn up the wick - they've been out-shot 16-11. Time to kick it into high gear!
-
Hey, why are Canadians and Americans always such great friends, except when we play each other in hockey? LOL Bad blood percolating already. :)
-
And by the way, I certainly hope I'm wrong about Kessel/VanRiemsdyk. I keep thinkin of that Bruins meltdown though.
-
According to the text I just got from WGR, audio streaming of their feed is NOT available. I don't know about Enroth - I guess we're all just making an assumption that he is the first backup. I expect it will be just academic - Lundqvist will almost certainly start in the Gold Medal game. As to what type of reaction with Maple Leafs fans have? Sadly, because it is Kessel and VanRymsdyk we may not find out. :(

SPOILER GDT: USA v. CANADA WOMEN'S GOLD MEDAL GAME

I'm amazed that people think McDonalds' bitter, rancid-tasting brew is better than Timmy H's. Timmy's is one of my favorite stops on the road, for a java-pickup. Medium Double-double is the way to go! -
^^^^^ Would this forum survive THAT one?!!!!
-
Well, the winner of this one faces Sweden in the Gold Medal Game on Sunday. So Enroth is guaranteed at least a silver for warming the bench.
-
Bagged milk.... lmao..... it's also proudly labeled ######.....
-
So is today a "We hate Canada" day? Do we need to get even for that awful Women's team collapse yesterday? We'll all be like K-K-K-Ken yelling "R-R-R-EVENGE!!!!"
-
Sick?!! With two games left to the gold???? He gonna lay on the couch with a Power Rangers blankee and watch cartoons??? With a medal on the line?????? C'mon, let's go!!! He needs a General Patton to try and remind himof his obligations, both as a man, and as an American!

SPOILER GDT: USA v. CANADA WOMEN'S GOLD MEDAL GAME
Jsixspd replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
The call was unarguably horrible and bad - I have never seen "slashing" called for a player fighting to get a puck that a goalie had not secured BEFORE the whistle blows. However, the U.S. lost that game in regulation. When the team pissed away a 2 goal lead with 3 minutes and 30 seconds on the clock, they were signaling they were more than happy to get a silver - they had lost their appetite for gold. -

Yeah. It seemed pretty clear that all momentum had shifted to Canada at that point. They were playing like the Sabres generally do towards the last few minutes of a period - sitting on their heels and letting the puck bang around in their own zone. They achieved similar results to the Sabres too. Canada must have wanted it more, had more motivation, whatever. Guess they decided a silver was good enough. -

Those guys need to come out with a vengeance tomorrow and hammer them for this loss today, that's for sure! This has shot the entire day's productivity, too! -

Hey, now we have a real reason to dislike Canada - the officials hand them the wins. I didn't hear it, but apparently the NBCSN commentators said that the penalty call that resulted in Canada's game winning goal against Latvia was a bit questionable too. -
The fix is in! Those officials were being bribed with bacon and maple syrup - that "slashing" call was one of the worst in sports history. Until they blow the whistle - that puck is LIVE - it's normal play to go for the puck.

In Central America.... when there are bad calls in soccer games, I've seen video on Youtube where the official gets chased right out of the stadium and right to his vehicle. -

It needs to sting - because they need the full measure of pain to remember always how they blew it, so they don't make the same mistake in the NEXT Olympics. -

It's like with football... it's one thing if you've got a 4 or 5 touchdown lead in the 4th, and then switch to "prevent" mode to save your starters from injury. But how many football teams have kissed away leads and wins by switching to 'prevent' too early, or with too small of a lead? You see these NFL coaches make the same dumb miscalculation year after year. Appears the same thing happened with the US women's team. When you get a team that's unaccustomed to winning, they don't know how to win. You've got to play the entire 60 minutes!!! -

And HOW was that a slashing call? That's routine legal hockey play - until the whistle blows. I watched the replay again - the whistle didn't blow until a second AFTER she put the stick in there.
