  1. And he's out there! LOL - almost a short-handed goal
  2. Period break! Good first period! I'm streaming WCMF so I can hear the Sabres broadcast and watching on NBC - I've paused the telecast about 1:13 - that syncs it up with the WCMF internet stream. No Milbury on NBCSN - probably on vacation after Sochi - breaks my heart not to see him (or hear him). LOL This power play needs the Tank Commander!
  3. I was on a hiking trip 6 or 7 years ago in the Adirondacks in the wilderness on state land, 10 miles from the nearest town or village, and a Warthog blew by overhead at low altitude, running maneuvers from Fort Drum I assume - going full tilt. It came low over a hilltop - there was no noise in advance or warning - just a sudden roar and it blasted by a few hundred feet overhead. We were out in the open in a field too - If we were the target, he probably could have slowed, turned and attacked in fewer seconds than it takes to type it. I told a friend - anyone that plane is hunting would be SO screwed! One second it's not there - then it appears, ready to kill. They are just awesome!
  4. So they can build another plane that's more "survivable"? Good luck with that. It doesn't get much better than the Warthog.... in all those combat missions, 5 downed, and one pilot killed. And those planes went on some hairy missions, flying low altitude support for ground combat operations. These aren't like B-2 bombers flying miles up in the air with stealth technology. I could see a new version of the Warthog, but the basic concept is brilliant - a heavily armored ground-support plane that's nearly impossible to shoot down, that protects the pilot superbly, and packs firepower that no vehicle can withstand. Why would the Air Force want to diverge from that?
  5. Yikes! Could you imagine a whole pack of yappy little wild Marchands running loose?
  6. You mean you weren't happy for our old "pal" Marshawn 3 weeks ago? Your one consolation prize - while Lynch was clearing important in the regular season in helping get the Sickhawks to the big game, he wasn't much of a factor in the "Big Game". He had only 39 yards and averaged only 2.6 yds per carry. Harvin actually had more yards rushing than Lynch. The one thing Broncos did do right - and there weren't many things they did right - was to figure him out and contain him.
  7. That A-10 footage is awesome. What a devastating weapon of war - if a person, or group of persons, or a car, truck, tank, is the ground target of an A-10, unless there's a fortified bunker or cave to hide in, it's pretty much all over for them. I kind of think of it as the spiritual successor to the P-47 Thunderbolts of WW2 with their 8 - 50 caliber wing guns. Those 50 cals could chop up steam locomotives.
  8. No argument here, that's for sure. I've noticed he really likes to run his mouth when standing behind Chara, like a yappy little Chihuahua barking from behind the safety of his owner's legs.
  9. I always hope we win against Boston - but Enroth doesn't have very good stats against Boston. He only played one game against Boston so far this year, which isn't a very big pool of data but he gave up 3 goals and a loss. In 2011-12 in 4 games he started against Boston his GAA was 3.49 and only a 0.900 SVG% Miller, by contrast, in 2011-12 season - 3 games started against Boston, with a 1.45 GAA, and a 0.957 SVG% - AND Miller achieved a shut-out in one of those 3 games too! So the Tank may get a post-Olympic restart tonight. The Bruins seem to have figured out Enroth.
  10. Also, Brad May pointed out last night during one of the period breaks that NHL teams with a high number of players at the Olympics - they have a statistical tendency to show a down-turn after the Olympics. That would really suck to be a fan of a team with good playoff chances to either see a star starter injured during irrelevant Olympic games, or the entire team lose focus or whatever and take a post-Olympic downturn.
  11. That is a great story! Those two pups won the "lottery" so to speak. I can't even imagine how much bureaucracy they'd have to wade thru to get that accomplished.
  12. The Tank took a hit tonite. We need Leino to play more.
  13. About the worst pp ever with Leino out there
  14. I missed the first period. This 0-0 doesn't help the Tank. Leino needs to take charge and get the tank moving.
  15. These valiant foot-soldiers are reporting directly to Field Marshall Leino, our glorious Tank Commander. There's only 50 points left in the season - let's see how few we can get.
  16. ^^^^ LOL I'm betting at least 5 minutes into the 1st period - maybe I'm being too optimistic though?
  17. Hockey game tonight - at last!!!! This is my first time watching a Sabres game since I surrendered to the Tank - so I'm now I'm hoping that I feel great joy every time Leino is out there. And he will be out there.
  18. ^^^^haha!!!
  19. It was for an allergy medication that he's been prescribed for 7 years, a medication which has been openly communicated to the NHL, and one which the NHL has stated gives no performance enhancement whatsoever. He must have been on it during the last Olympics too, if the 7 year statement is correct. Seems like pretty weak sauce, and a shame that Sweden was without one of their stars for the Gold Medal game. The details can be read here; http://espn.go.com/olympics/winter/2014/icehockey/story/_/id/10505967/2014-sochi-olympics-sweden-top-center-nicklas-backstrom-tests-positive-banned-substance
  20. I don't think you can judge much from the Bronze game. I don't think the US team members really cared about winning the bronze consolation prize. I think they were "All-In" for the gold, and when they got eliminated, they lost motivation. Looked to me like they were pretty much going thru the motions.
  21. Even though it was a horrible call, the American women lost that game when they started sitting on their heels in the last 5 of regulation, and then gave up 2 goals in 2 minutes, allowing the Canadian team to suddenly control the game and the momentum. That same control and momentum carried into the overtime for the Canadians. That had zero to do with officiating.
  22. ^^^^^   I'm surprised they didn't also award them Gold-Medal shaped decanters of maple syrup.
  23. "Intent to blow the whistle" is a horrible CYA rule so the officials can save face. Basically the officials could waive off any goal scored from a crease scrum because they could declare they 'intended' to blow the whistle - that's ridiculous. Makes me angry just thinking about it. It's a disgraceful rule.
  24. Here are Carey Price's stats for the tourney - since ESPN doesn't seem to list them other than wins 5-0 record GAA - 0.6 !!!!! SVG% - 97.2 !!!!! 106 shots faced, 103 saves 2 shutouts. Price ought to get a medal for that performance..... oh wait....
  25. Wow - two back to back shut outs for Team Canada. 165 minutes of hockey without giving up a single goal. That is amazing. First in with...."Sweden should have played Enroth" Like that would have made a difference
