  1. Haven't most of our goals lately been scored by either Stafford or Ennis?
  2. He really got after him AFTER the puck was already in the net.
  3. Sabres gave up their customary "about a minute left in the period" goal.
  4. Holy crap this is awesome, I just mentioned a few days ago that we ought to have a pool to bet when Leino scores his first goal.
  5. In checking his game log, his most recent shut-out was 3/21/12. So the 2nd anniversary will be this Friday. You'd think he'd have to get one sooner or later, especially with the low SOG he's been facing since joining the Blues. :)
  6. But the thing with this guy - during the LaFontaine departure, listening to national level broadcasts, the commentators seemed genuinely puzzled by the guy's title and his role on the team. They had no idea, from their perspective of analyzing other team front offices, exactly why such a position existed, where it didn't anywhere else. And he seems to be interjected in things, quite a bit. He should have never discussed any of those issues - that should be the GM's job/decision. That sort of thing can cause major controversy behind the scenes, especially if it's viewed as straying into Tim Murray's responsibilities. So what is his actual job? Why is he on the team, other than Terry doling out a big paycheck and benes to a Penn State frat boy buddy?
  7. ^^^^LOL When Leino gets the puck, he thinks he's playing the game "Hot Potato" instead of hockey.
  8. To reply to beerme1, "mathematical" elimination is when the gap between the Sabres current points and the points of the team occupying the lowest playoff berth is greater than the total points available in the remainder of the season. We achieved that point over the weekend. No one rationally thought they were gonna earn 32 out of 32 or 30 out of 30, or whatever. But this weekend was the final last gasp of an awful season, in terms of the season having any playoff significance for the Sabres.
  9. It's too bad that media guy - the guy whose 1 and only NHL game was the day Miller and Ott were traded - didn't get a chance in goal again, with all these injuries.
  10. You know, the Sabres did a great job - of tanking. The earliest they could have gotten eliminated, when you wrote this in Early February, was March 7th....and they only got 5 games past your worst case scenario. That's pretty sad. It's unbelievable they're already out at the mid-point of March. Is this some kind of new dubious record for earliest playoff elimination?
  11. He's a dirty SOB. Where the hell is Shanahan? But watch Scott get called by Crapahan as a result of pushing that guy into the boards in the last game!
  12. I believe the Sabres are now officially mathematically eliminated from 2014 playoff contention. The 2nd tier wildcard team today are the Rangers - with 76 points. The Sabres with 46 points, only have 14 games, and 28 points left, which limits them to 74 points max - realistically they'll be lucky to capture 14 of 28 points. Stick a fork in them - they're done. They're playing for nothing now, except jobs in 2015.
  13. And DID get shut out by an AHL goalie. The Tank is Strong tonight.
  14. Hodgson blew a couldn't capitalize on a nice break away opportunity too.
  15. Nathan with a beautiful poke check to stop that break away
  16. LOL - I think there's less chance of Leino doing damage to the Sabres if he just stands there like a pylon.
  17. Nathan made a nice save on Vanek! That's nice to see if nothing else
  18. Great work by Leino... again. Taking the puck away from him is like taking it away from a small child.
  19. Nice job of Leino getting the puck, and immediately awkward passing it into a Hab's skates.
  20. What's with the McBain negativity? To paraphrase Terry Pegula.... "WHAT DID HE DO WRONG???!!!!" I mean, other than generally sucking, and helping take out our star goalie, and such?
  21. ^^^ +1 It's like Roby was saying during the break, it's a big opportunity for Nathan to impress!
  22. Well, this is what happens when you let your goalie face 35,40 shots every night. Every time the other team comes to the net, the odds of a goalie injury rise. That's why I was glad Miller could be traded successfully before he could get hurt.
