Good going, McBain - trip a Boston player right into your own goalie. I don't want to see that idiot-face McBain after tomorrow again on this team! -

Well, that wasn't even really Boston's fault. Damn! -

Well, the Bruins have no reason but they seem to do it on a regular basis. I think a fine reason is just being pissed off about things in general. haha, McCabe and Risto mixing it up! -

Good for John Scott - at least SOMEONE on this team is willing to fight! -

Missed the first period intermission - did Robitaille have an opportunity to do any Chara-Cheering or is not on the air today because it's an away game? -

haha!!!! Not having Scott playing Boston would have been a huge "WTF?" And we're only 1 game away from that $1000 prize being awarded by Trending Buffalo. I promise if I win it, I'll spend it on a Sabrespace party at one of the bars and taverns in downtown Buffalo. -

Boston still needs a win to clinch the President's Trophy - Anaheim's 3 points behind, and they both have 2 games to play. That means they're not gonna be taking it easy today, I predict the Bruins will be playing like they mean it. -
No one on this team or on the bench apparently would do anything about it if he were.
-
Well with this loss to the Stars ...the Blues are eliminated from the President's Trophy Stars under Lindy Ruff played a great game and made the playoffs. Kinda shows the real problem at the Sabres was probably Regier and not Ruff. Looks like Ryan Miller & Co can't beat a Lindy Ruff team. I think Ryan has lost every time he's faced the Stars this year.
-
3 goals against Miller already and only 5 minutes into the 3rd. Ouch
-
I love the Blues though - a Dallas Stars player just charged up to the goal and gave Miller a nice snow-shower - Blues were all over him -one Blues had the guy in a headlock. Imagine if the Stars had speared Ryan like the Rangers did to Hackett? Gloves would have been off, fights would have happened.
-
Goalie coaching seems to be the very least of the Sabres' problems. In fact, our goal-tending is pretty good. Even Hackett seems to be developing into a fine backup. Quality of net minding - that might be just accidental good luck that we keep getting good goalies? OR they're getting good coaching that helps them to use their specific talents and strengths? I'm inclined to think the latter instead of the former. I'm all for a fresh perspective, but why roll the dice when we have a good goalie coach in Jim C. right now?
-
And as I mentioned in the GDT, Matt Hackett played his ass off last night, and got speared with a stick by a Rangers player - no on-ice response from the Sabres. The whole team is a bunch of wimpy cream-puffs, from the coaches on down. Even if the coaches are 'instructing' the players not to retaliate, if I were a player I wouldn't give a hoot in hell myself. The hell with orders. Coach or no coach, I'd go right out and put a hit on Lundqvist, see how much they like it. Are the Sabres the "Low-T" team or what?
-
They may not even make the top of their division now.... Colorado is tied with them at 111 points with 2 games to play. I think they've on the verge of losing the President's Trophy too. Boston is 4 points ahead with only 4 points left on the table. Boston would have to get zero points in their last 2, and Blues win their last 2, for them to have a chance. I'd be astonished if the Bruins don't get a point tomorrow - they're playing the Sabres and the Bruins have lost two in a row AND they need one point to clinch the President's Trophy. :(
-
We're lucky after the last game that Hackett didn't end up on the DL too. Not just the cheap trip by Weld, but he took a couple scorcher shots full on, one in the shoulder, one in the head. I sure hope nobody on the Sabres takes a swing at someone on the other team for dirty play tonight - that would harsh on our collective mellow. We should take the offending opposition player aside, and have a heart to heart chat to resolve our differences in a mature adult fashion and then sing "Kumbaya" with them afterwards.

Holy crap, that's cool. He's definitely had a good long career - 12 years and counting in the WWF/WWE. I hope he takes good care of himself - a lot of those guys die way too young. :( Bats will make a great convenient whipping boy and lighting rod for fan displeasure, that's for sure. Any nefarious doings, he'll be in the thick of it, whether he in fact is, or not. -

   The irony was -I can't remember if it was before or after I posted - but I was flipping thru channels Monday night and decided to linger on Monday Night RAW which I hadn't watched in years - and that Battista happened to be in the ring. Our Battista will be great forum fodder for the foreseeable future. No one seems to know exactly what he does, or is supposed to do, other than T-Pegs and Battista himself. Therefore he's a convenient foil to blame almost anything bad on. Of course that only works one way - anything good happens, no one will be saying "I"ll bet Battista had a hand in that!" lmao And, we can also complain about what Battista oughta be doing,, and T-Pegs should have Battista doing (fill in the blanks), etc etc ;) -
And where was the response from the Sabres? That could have injured Hackett. Why does nothing provoke a fight from this team? Why is Nolan so complacent? If I were in that locker room between periods after that shot on Hackett, I'd be like.... "Hey, guys - Helm yanked the feet right out from under our goalie, when the puck was already down ice!!! It was a dirty, cheap shot and Helm was trying to hurt Hackett and disrespect him!!! How much more of this are we gonna take sitting down? We need to be stomping some ass!!!! Get out there and make Helm pay a price this period, and make sure he understands WHY!" I'm sorry - but seeing more and more of this, game after game, I'm starting to wonder about Ted Nolan's leadership in that locker room. Some will be leaving, but they're still competitive alpha males or they wouldn't be professional athletes in one of the physically toughest sports there is! Why is there no retaliation? No fighting? They have nothing to play for at this point except respect - and they're getting DIS-respected by the other teams on the ice - blatantly so! And last night - you have both Stewart and Foligno back in the roster - who are big, tough guys! Hackett gets cheap shotted, they need to crack some heads! And you can't say it's because they're not staying, because I'm thinking there's a good chance they'll be back. Some have speculated that Nolan himself is ordering them not to retaliate - that's seeming more likely to me.

The Sabres right now have THREE goalies on the DL. THREE!!! That's no coincidence - I think it's a consequence of this odd soft philosophy of the Sabres - We've seen time and again other teams' skaters charge right into that crease and pound in there, with limited, if any, response from the Sabres. These other teams know, they know, that they can pretty much do anything to the Sabres, and there's no danger of retaliation. And that's adding up to a boatload of injuries. Why can't Ted see this? I can't even relate to the attitude on a personal level - if I see a friend or a person I like getting physically abused - my natural instinctive reaction is gonna be to be FURIOUS! I can relate a helluva lot more to the reaction of a John Tortorella or Patrick Roy going ape than the passivity we see on the Sabres bench for the last couple years.
