GMTM definitely won that trade - Ryan Miller's best days are behind him. He turns 34 in July.
-
Cursed. Way!
-
Here it is - poorly written because it's copied from a blog or live chat - written like gamer d00d chat - lol. But the gist is that he mentioned Shattenkirk letting Kane get by. http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/22404-all-about-the-st-louis-blues/page__st__400#entry578379 Hmmmm!!!! I'm trying to imagine how I'd react if both those guys were signed for the Sabres 2014-15 season. That's a real moral dilemma right there. :) They wouldn't be anywhere near as effective on the Sabres, because the Sabres don't enjoy the same "Special Relationship" as the Bruins do with Bettman and the NHL. They'd probably be penalized and suspended into futility.
-
I believe he blamed one of the Chicago game winning goals against them on Shattenkirk after one of the games. I'd have to go back and dig in the forums to find it.
-
Well, that's the exception rather than the rule for Chicago. Thuggery happens every period with the Bruins - someone on this forum wrote that Lucic and Marchand are some of the worst people in the world - and I find it hard to disagree with that.
-
The only way Miller would survive in St. Louis would have been to win this game and series. He made a big mistake throwing Shattenkirk under the bus publicly - the new guy in the office doesn't come in and trash talk the seasoned veteran and survive, unless he performs brillantly. Miller was just below average for his playoff appearances - and that's with a superior Blues team in front of him. He's gone, I'm afraid.
-
Wow, turning into a blowout for Chicago now - 5-1 with 2 1/2 minutes to go. The Curse of Buffalo alive and well - GMTM wanted to win *something* - all we're gonna get is the Booby-Prize. :(
-
Blues were also missing Tarasenko at the end of the regular season - and that seemed to really hurt their offense. They were quite a bit ahead of Chicago before the Blues end of season fade. Chicago closed the gap, but a few weeks before the end of the regular season, St. Louis looked like a shoe-in for the President's Trophy.
-
And I also have to add, it's not Ryan Miller's fault the Blues PP now has a 5 or 6% success rate in this series. No team is going to go far in the playoffs not being able to capitalize on penalties.
-
In fairness to Ryan Miller, before today, he'd been playing up to par with his previous playoff appearances. In 5 post seasons, he's averaged 2.45 GAA (before today) - and his playoff GAA going into this game was 2.32 SVG% - post season AVG - 0.916 - so far 0.911 It's not his fault the Blues seem unable to score - and that was a problem that began a half dozen games or so before the end of the regular season
-
The Blues had a much better regular season record than Chicago, and they jumped out to a 2-0 lead to start the series. Now they're on the verge of dropping 4 in a row. I'd call it a collapse when the team with the superior season record and points loses 4 in a row to the team with the inferior record. We spoke of the Miller Shut-Out - this is the Miller Collapse.

Uhm.............. ruh roh!!!!
-
They may have broken the curse in a weird way. Even NBCSN mentioned the bizarre similarity between this series and the previous Blues playoff series. "I'll get off you - but one moment while I put my glove on again please" - lmao!!!!!
-
I saw the stat - Blues are 7% on the PP in this series - that's Buffalo-esque bad right there.
-
Somebody should show the above chart with the eerie similarities in the playoff series to the Blues during the 1st period break. Tell them that it was 1-1 in the 2nd period of game six - they need to go ALL OUT and score their 2nd goal quickly in the 2nd to BREAK THIS JINX!!!!!!!!!
-
Don't give up yet - TJ Oshie just tied the score at 1-1 with 3 minutes left in the 1st. So it's a brand new game. :)
-
Holy moley!!!!! That is off the hook!!!! Maybe he's something of an ######, but I sure wished he was OUR ###### instead of somebody else's. :)
-
Yup - that's my concern too. Cronyism isn't an issue if the cronies in question are competent, experienced, and are focused on getting a job done. Sometimes the boss hires people he KNOWS are good and can get the job done. However, if there just there to polish their desk sign, collect a huge paycheck without doing anything productive and make trouble behind the scenes - well then that's an issue for everyone.
-
When you get a Toews and a Kane on your team.... you got a helluva foundation for a team. I've been admiring these Blackhawks for a few seasons now. They're successful without being a bunch of cheap friggin' thugs (Bruins)who care nothing at all for the well-being of their fellow hockey players.
-
Well, at least we weren't last. 20th out of 30 teams. Would GMTM count that a "win something"? LOL
-
Well at least Buffalo has a commuter train to downtown, at least they did 10 years ago. Rochester has jack-######. And their 'express' bus-route from the airport to downtown, the last time I rode it, takes you right through some of the most high-crime rate sections the city with frequent stops. The one and only time I rode it - I thought, what GREAT PR for tourists arriving by plane and staying in one of the downtown hotels. LOL
-
We need a third leg topic perhaps? LOL!!!! The bend would be variable depending on the success of our Buffalo teams.
-
LOL!!! No worries - after a while you get used to living with disappointment and despair - I suppose it's similar to the adjustment one must make to live with a physical deficiency like a gimp leg. I didn't realize - but Red Wings had to play their backup goalie in the last game (which they lost), and again today. That really sucks - at least Gustavsson's stats are close to Howard's. But I hate to see the Wings playing with any disadvantage against the Bruins. I hate the Bruins!!!
-
Miller has less to fear than we Sabres fans - poof, there goes a sweet draft pick position. I can't believe they're on the verge of being eliminated in the first round - they were the favorites over Chicago going in. If St. Louis (and the Sabres) lose, it will be right there with the draft lottery. We lost that one too. Buffalo just doesn't get any lucky breaks. When GMTM declared, a few hours before the lottery, that he wanted "to win something" - I thought to myself - you're in the wrong city for that, Tim. This is just not an area that wins - we take it on the chin all the time. "Winning" is just not part of our vocabulary.
