  1. Looking at the 8 teams which were in this year's semi-finals, I see none of them picking up Ryan Miller as a starter unless they lose their goalie. Backing out to the 16 teams in the quarters, these teams look like they might need or want a goalie -Tampa -Columbus -Philly (dunno if they'll stick with Emery) -Dallas -Colorado - dunno how happy they are with Varlamov, or if they think that Miller would be an upgrade (their stats were fairly equivalent in the post season) I would guess of these, Columbus or Tampa would be the most likely to be interested in Miller. Maybe Dallas too? Miller's playoff stats were certainly better than Lehtonen's
  2. That seems reasonable. After all, he scored no fewer goals than did Leino. ;)
  3. Well, let's look at the rebuild of the Chicago Blackhawks as a comparison to our potential rebuild If you equate this Sabres season to the 06-07 Blackhawks (the last year BEFORE their rebuild began) then for 2014-15, the Sabres should see a marked turnaround in their record - posting a winning record, but not qualifying for the playoffs, maybe 3rd or 4th in the Division. 2015-16 - the Sabres should get a round or two deep into the playoffs before elimination. 2016-17 - true Stanley Cup contender status. The Cup in this season, or 2017-18 That's if OUR rebuild is executed as efficiently and well as Chicago's rebuild. Season by Season Blackhawks record here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chicago_Blackhawks_seasons Again, this is assuming our rebuild is as successful as Chicago's. I have faith in GMTM, but I am concerned that Pegula might be loading the front office with a bunch of uncouth ham-handed self-important misanthropes like Battista.
  4. I think Miller's chance of being the starting goalie in a Cup winning team now is now just slightly better than that of the proverbial snowball in H-E-Double-Hockey Sticks. His record in St Louis really damaged his reputation; I don't think top-tier contending teams are going to be scrambling to pick him up after St. Louis dropped him so quickly.
  5. Well, since the rebuild started; and in those 7 years, they've been in the playoffs 6 of 7 years (only didn't qualify first year). Drilling down further for granularity, they have 2 Stanley Cup wins 2 Finals appearances 2 Quarterfinals appearances. What's NOT to like here? :)
  6. In the post-season, since Buffalo rarely ever participates, I tend to be a Blackhawks fan. That is just a quality, QUALITY organization. If Buffalo had to pick a model to use for their rebuild, they could choose a helluva lot worse. Team is always competitive.
  7. That would be awesome - especially since Marchand has spent years standing behind the protective skirts of Lucic, yapping like a little Chihuahua, spewing trash talk and vitriol while Lucic is there to protect him.
  8. That is hysterical. Working now - will have to read the entire thing later -but all the photos of Lucic in handshakes with JFK, etc, awesome! They even took a shot at Big Poopy, David Ortiz, who I actually like, but still think it's funny :)
  9.   I don't know that's a compliment, since a good deal of the next year or so entails MOAR tanking! ;)
  10. Well, I probably should phrase it this way. Boston is SO classless, they actually made the low-class Habs SEEM classy in comparison. That takes some doing, but I have faith in Boston exceeding the bar for scummery. And they'll continue to do so aided by the NHL and that slimy weasel Bettman.
  11. I gotta admit - PK Subban is a great player! Not just points and scoring - his defensive work, particularly his penalty kill effort is tremendous and effective. Good things generally happen for the Habs when he's on the ice, and that's about the best thing that can be said for any NHL player - to consistently make a positive difference for team. And who would have ever thought that the Habs would come off as the classy team in that series? Boston and their fans solidified their status as bottom feeders, no matter how many wins they have or may have in the future.
  12. Sidebar; I sometimes have to laugh at the filters built into the forum. I tried to post "Ding-D-O-N-G the witch is dead!" regarding Boston's elimination, but it came out as "Ding-####" ;) Sidebar over - carry on. :)
  13. Remember, one of Darcy Regier's stated goals was to get another Finnish player to "compliment" Leino. Sadly Darcy forgot his grade school math. 2 x 0 still equals 0
  14. LOL!!!! As a Sabrespace forum member (I wished I could remember who wrote it) wrote a couple months ago, Lucic and Marchand are some of the worst human beings there are. Classless, and without any care or concern for causing injuries to others.
  15. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Habs pulled it out. Can't believe I was actually rooting for Montreal! Playoffs make for strange bedfellows - :) Ding-######, the Witch is dead!!!!!
  16. I figured this topic might get a bump after last night's game! :)
  17. That go-ahead goal by Kane was just spectacular. Not just the goal but the way he skated his way thru the defense of a 2nd round playoff team too, in order to make it! Chicago's 2nd goal - the backhanded feed by Saad right onto the stick of Hossa - was a thing of beauty too. I loved the way the seasoned Hossa immediately just pointed at Saad to say -"You da MAN!!!" When our Sabres can start making goals like either of these on a somewhat consistent basis - we'll know the Tank is over.
  18. Miller would have made the stop! ;)
  19. He's a legend in his own mind.
  20. Every time I think of Pierre McGuire's name - I think of a frog dressed like a leprechaun for some reason.
  21. Yep!!!! That was beautiful last night! Habs made a strong statement, winning the series opener IN Boston! Just hope they don't pull a Detroit and fade away. Along those lines, I heard one of the commentators mention that he heard Lucic say upon returning to the bench - "we missed him!!" in reference to Subban. So they are targeting him. How about the whole idea of OUT playing him, instead of putting him on the DL with cheap shots and penalties? As someone on this forum mentioned, Lucic and Marchand are some of the worst people in the NHL - they have zero regard for other human beings. I did notice that Subban had a very nice move a couple times last night - someone would be charging up to try and check him into the boards - he would move and spin so that it deflected the Boston player into the boards, he just got brushed - the Boston player took the punishment. It was very nice.
  22. I quit watching after the end of the 1st overtime - this is great news to awaken to! Never thought I'd be rooting for Montreal and PK Subban, but there it is! Nice thing about Subban - he's more than a cheap-shotting goon, he's actually a highly skilled offensive d-man. I loved seeing Tukka Rask's frustration after some of those Habs goals. :)
  23. You know, as soon as I posted that, I thought - "I didn't just go there.... did I?" ;)
  24. Well, Sterling's wife sure seems to think she was his mistress, if you look at the wording of the lawsuit she's brought against her. He bought her a Bentley, a Ferrari and a Land Rover, and she lives in a $1.8 million dollar home. As far as I can tell, her job with the team was pretty much social director and charity coordinator. Seems like pretty lavish pay and benefits for an ordinary 20 something employee (she started working for the Clippers in her late 20s). She said he was his 'archivist' Her exact 'job' with the Clippers seems even more vague and ill-defined than Battista's is with the Sabres. LOL
  25. I wished Sylvester had asked him exactly what his relationship with GMTM is. Is he subordinate to GMTM, or is he independent? Is GMTM's the final word on personnel decisions or does Battista have a vote/say in what's done?
