  1. Wow, this didn't even rate a WGR text message alert. LOL
  2. Yep. A knife, a fork, a bottle and a cork.... that's the way we spell "New York".
  3. Yeah, I remember when Ted cut him loose. But it's more fun to use Battista as a whipping boy. ;)
  4. Rangers were down 3 -1 against the Pens just recently, and came back to sweep the final 3 games and win the series. So it can (and does) happen. However, a Rangers/Kings Cup final is the most likely scenario at this juncture.
  5. What was the inside story with Corsi? Did he get Battista'd?
  6. If St. Louis stays hot for the rest of the playoffs, and helps the Rangers win the Cup, and he totally sucked all next season, it would still be a good trade. I wonder how much his mother's passing has served as personal motivation for him? And also for his teammates rallying behind him? In 11 playoff games prior to the untimely passing of his mother, he had 2 goals and 6 points. In only 7 games since, he's had 4 goals and 7 points. I know he had stated he wanted to win for his mother on Mother's Day (which they did). I do know they'd dropped 3 in a row to the Pens, and were on the verge of elimination from the series. Then his mom passed, and it was almost like a switch was thrown.
  7. The Kings looking like the team to beat this year.
  8. Which was completely, ACCIDENTALLY, on purpose. ;) I think the officials warned the Rangers bench last night about charging the crease.
  9. Lundqvist has some great stats for this post-season. After 17 games, a GAA of only 1.99, and a .931 SVG%. Henrik has delivered my favorite moment of the playoffs so far - when he casually squirted Crosby in the face with his water bottle as he skated past! Hard to top that one - "You're all wet, Sidney!" LOL!!!!
  10. Rangers just drew another penalty - maybe they'll score again? LOL
  11. IF the Sabres rebuild is as successful and well-done as the Chicago Blackhawks, this is what you should see unfold; Sabres 2013-14 - equivalent to Blackhawks 2006-07. Hawks finished 5th in the central, 30th in the league in PP Sabres 2014-15 - Hawks 07 to 08; Hawks rebuild was fully underway this season. They did not qualify for playoffs BUT team finished 3rd in Central, and had a WINNING record. I'm hopeful at least the Sabres can break 500 - if the Hawks can do it, why can't we with all the money and resources available? Sabres 2015-16 - should be able to make it into the playoffs - Chicago in their 3rd year of the rebuild made it to the Conference Finals and lost. I would hope at least the Sabres, by the 2016 playoffs, can make it into the 2nd round of hte playoffs. Sabres 2016-17 - TRUE Stanley Cup Contenders at that point, and forward - respected coast to coast, and pillar to post! Let's hope OUR rebuild is managed as efficiently and quickly as the Blackhawks. By 2017 playoffs, if we're still one and done in the playoffs, or not even IN the playoffs, time to fire all the coaches and management and start over until we get it RIGHT!
  12. Yeah, LA seems to have really turned it up a notch. Looks like the Blackhawks may get eliminated, unless they can win one in LA.
  13. That was a terribly stupid penalty and LA made Chicago pay.
  14. I found the penalty to be ironic - Handzus send to the box for covering the puck with his hand. Toews is awesome. Weren't there members of this forum hoping that he "got better"? LOL
  15. Rangers bailed out Lundqvist (and themselves with that last minute goal to tie the game. Desperation time coming up for the Habs in this overtime. 2-0 series deficit is bad enough, 3-0 the fat lady will be singing.
  16. Blackhawks just jumped out ahead of LA. Leddy with a beautiful PP shot. And actually, it was amazing that the Hawks didn't score on the play where the cross-checking penalty was assessed to LA. I dunno what kept the puck from going in; it was spinning and bouncing around in mid air in front of the LA goal.
  17. That's a tricky one especially because it's so dependent on the number of games played in the season. But if you only consider goalies who played 40 games or more in 2013-14 that leaves 29. Miller ranks 17th of 29 which puts him in the bottom half. So we won't use that one because he doesn't come off as elite. ;) Let me add another qualifier - if NONE of Miller's stats are good, then all the stats are garbage. In that event, we all have to sit back in awe and appreciate the zen, the awesome gestalt, that which cannot be codified or measured, which is Ryan Miller.
  18. As much as I dislike Boston players and fans for their poor character and slimy behavior, they've got a solid hockey organization, with good connections in the league, well managed, with lots of talent and depth. We have.....yeah....and we've got... uhm.... uh..... Battista? And a nice locker room too.... yeah we got that.
  19. The best stat is the one that makes Miller look best. If he's not doing well in any particular stat, well that stat isn't important in evaluating goalies. Of course, once he starts doing better at that stat, it will suddenly be very important again. ;)
  20. Someone needs to send that photo of the Habs flag flying in Boston to Lucic and Marchand. lmao!!!!
  21. So is there ANY competitive team, with at least a decent shot of a playoff run next season, that would be in play for Miller? Or is Miller doomed to play out the last few years of his career playing for bottom shelf teams who are going nowhere? His playoff performance this year certainly didn't help his prospects,
  22. Most likely it is. Had the first two games been in NYC, and the Habs dropped the pair, well one might think they could regroup on home ice. But to let the visitor take BOTH opening games.... Only 12.7% of teams going down 2-0 in a series, have won. And those stats don't show how often that 2-0 deficit has happened on home ice. I'm guessing it's a lot worse percentage in that case. http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=31154#2
  23. Well, if he comes back up to snuff. His injury really killed them in the playoffs. I forgot to add - St. Louis may need a goalie. :P To be honest, for the teams in this year's playoffs - I don't see a huge demand among them for a goalie. The above on my part is "Well maybe this team?" Particularly for a goalie whose playoff performance this year was widely panned, and most analysts viewed as a big part of St. Louis' early exit from the playoffs. Once we get down into the bottom tier, things open up. But I'm guessing that Miller himself is only interested in a team with a shot at the Stanley Cup since he's running out of years. That's why I brought up the playoff teams from this year. Maybe he'll end up having to settle for a paycheck and forgo any Championship aspirations?
  24. I think this would be appropriate given the last couple seasons - "I'm a loser, baby, so why don't ya kill me?" :)
