  1. You know, somehow that seems similar to General Patton's statement about Field Marshall Montgomery - "Well, he's the best General the British have" Sounds like a compliment - but - maybe it isn't?
  2. Haven't we been saying this about the Sabres since forever? LOL
  3. And still stealing a fabulous fortune. Per Cap Geek; 2014-15: $1,722,222 2015-16: $2,222,222 2016-17: $2,222,222 2017-18: $1,222,222 2018-19: $1,222,222 2019-20: $1,222,222 That's right. He's one of the highest paid people in the world, paid to sit on his ass and do absolutely NOTHING, and write memoirs about his "bad experience" at the Sabres. And astonishingly, his pay goes UP next year to 2.2 million. Incredible.
  4. Interesting take - GMTM, and perhaps the Pegulas, the only one(s) who actually know what the real plan is? I am now picturing GMTM offering feigned commiseration and feigned outrage whenever Nolan barges into his office, angered at the team's latest failure. :) BTW, for Tank Watchers, last night's victory has placed us one point ahead of Florida, Carolina and Edmonton. That's not good for the Tank.
  5. Gionta should be referred to as "Captain Dunsel".
  6. Exactly. If they fire Hackett, Marrone should be shown the door too. Hackett is in the job, and continues to hold the job, because he's one of Marrone's flunkies from SU.
  7. However, if this is the EXPECTED product (a full-fledged Tank) for 2014-15, then the anger must be feigned to an extent. GMTM and Nolan forge a team to intentionally lose - hard to be angry when they.... lose. The actual honest feeling must be one of satisfaction. Perhaps it's just showmanship to keep the fanbase interested and sell tickets for the season?
  8. Awful totally uninteresting hockey by the Sabres this season so far. 4 goals in 3 games = 1.3 goals per game. Some have deemed the Sabres "entertaining" to watch this season; I call it a yawn fest and a shambles. The team is clearly missing Ville Leino.
  9. I didn't have time to watch the entire game, but I watched sections here and there of the 3rd period. The Sabres looked totally inept when it came to basic fundamentals like passing. I seem to recall a Sabres PP where a gently passed puck bounced, not once, but TWICE, off the foot of Tyler Myers and he struggled to maintain control. The product on the ice seemed like complete garbage; I've seen college teams with better puck control.
  10. Today went pretty much as I expected. Belichick can out-coach Marrone pretty much any day of the week. Hackett is a pimple on the a$$ of progress. A game like today's show how far the Bills are from being a competitive post-season team.
  11. Well..... that 3rd period was about as ugly as it gets.
  12. Well, based on last night's results, I would say debate as to which Chicago Blackhawk rebuild season equates with this Sabres' season has become academic. It's seems quite clear we have a full-fledged tank for at least another full year.
  13. Ugly. The tank is in good shape. Looks like it's gonna be a loooonnnnggg season.
  14. I could never root against the team. I will admit - Leino's constant failures last season did give me a perverse sense of satisfaction - but otherwise..... it's always GO SABRES.
  15. Wow - it's here! 11 hrs and counting! AND, I now have DirectTV instead of @#$%ing DISH, so I can watch every game again!. Woo-hoo!!!
  16. As much as I love manuals, there's no arguing that the latest production cars with the 8 speed autos are much quicker in a drag race than the same car with a manual. First, there is the inherent mechanical advantage - with 8 speeds there are more gear ratios to keep optimum power/torque flowing to the drive wheels than with a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission. Plus the current computer controlled auto transmissions shift in mere milliseconds at full throttle - faster than a human can shift. And the shifts are always the same and always consistent.
  17. Holy #@$% - does someone at the Buffalo News read this forum? LOL
  18. I dunno - I think the Pats are gonna come out really motivated to open up a lead against Buffalo in the AFC East. And Buffalo victories against the Belichick/Brady era Patriots have been few and far between. I am not optimistic about the outcome of this one. Don't get me wrong - it would be wonderful if the Bills do win - I hate the Patriots - I loved every second of them getting dismantled on MNF last week. But.....
  19. Will this help or hurt the Tank? BTW, Happy Eve of a New Hockey Season everyone. :)
  20. Out of 6 QBs in the HOF game, Manuel had, by a big margin, the poorest completion to attempts ratio (2 for 7 or 29%), lowest total yards, and lowest yards per attempt, a Fitzpatrick-esque 2.7 yards) Eli Manning was 6 for 7 ( or 86%) with 6.1 yards per attempt. While pre-season games aren't a very good gauge of regular season performance, Manuel certainly didn't silence any of his critics with such an underwhelming performance.
  21. While that might be laudable in every day life, that characteristic is pretty low on the totem pole of player evaluation for me. I couldn't care if he bullied and slapped around every taxi driver in Buffalo, and gave the middle finger to disabled kids looking for his autograph, as long as he can deliver on the ice consistently for us.
  22. If you compare dollars per goal, they're a good bargain, especially when contrasted with Ville Leino. ;)
  23. I've wondered the same myself. Pat hires Tim - and then finds that he made himself irrelevant and obsolete. Has a Sith-like quality to it, like Darth Plaugeis and how his own apprentice, Darth Sidious, killed him in his sleep. Darth Murray? Or an "Et Tu, Timmay?" moment? LaFontaine didn't even make it to the Ides of March, however.
  24. I don't know about the world, but at age 35, Patrick Kane's career could be pretty much at the end by then. These signings are stupid anyways - Kane and Toews haven't won a Cup in nearly 13 months - what good are they? ;)
  25. Strong words! Even a modern Methuselah could die before the Sabres win the Cup. LOL If only we had a working time machine so we could check.... Bills for a Super Bowl win, and Sabres for a Cup win.
