  1. This pleases Nikita.
  2. Broncos had 2 QBs over 3 seasons after Cutler left; Orton then Tebow, THEN Manning arrived. Cutler appears to be a downgrade from Plummer, who took the Broncos to the playoffs in 3 out of 4 seasons he played there. They didn't make the playoffs either year that Cutler played for them. But they did when Tebow was in the pocket. And Cutlers's first season with the Bears - they dropped to 7-9 from the previous year with Orton which was 9-7. BTW, Orton's first season with the Broncos; Bronco's posted a slightly better record than Cutler's last season. Cutler was 7-9, Orton was 8-8. And yeah, Orton stank the following year - 4-12. But then came Tebow and then Manning. 6 seasons with the Bears, and the Bears have only made the playoffs once in that span. Yeah, that's the hot hand that Buffalo needs... a QB whose rating is a whopping 4 points higher than Orton's - but would probably cost 3X the payroll. Chicago management were idiots to sign him for 7 years at 128 million. Jeebus!!!! Talk about a toxic contract.
  3. Looked like the Tank Team on the ice last night; of course could be attributed to a crazy travel day and no rest. Let's see how they do Saturday.
  4. Cutler absolutely sucks, and has a big chip on his shoulder/attitude. Let's say he's equal to Orton.... well then, it makes sense to keep Orton, because Cutler will demand more money. All one need to is look at Denver pre and post Cutler. Denver doing a lot better WITHOUT Cutler than with him. I think that tells us all we need to know about that sad sack. Orton's career average passer rating is 81 - Cutler's is 85 - not much of an upgrade, if any. Bills need a QB that is more talented and better than either Orton or Cutler.
  5. Good - Hodgson is a slug.... he ought to be benched, or maybe just shown the door permanently. To say he got beat would be a severe over-statement. That implies "trying" and to me it looked like he just sauntered up and down the ice. He's totally gutless and tries to avoid hitting/getting hit. He passes away the puck like it's a damn hot potato, and a junior high player could knock him off the puck! Total wuss!
  6. Yep. He's earning that "C". Meszaros is brutally bad. Keep him OFF the ice entirely, that's the best strategy. Same with Benoit. Hodgson hasn't been that great either. Putting him out there on the PP is almost like a 4 on 4.
  7. Perhaps it's a misconception on my part, but Quintal seems to keep a much lower profile than Crapahan did. If so, I see it as a blessing in disguise - it was usually the Sabres getting pounded with ridiculous heavy handed suspensions, et al, and other teams like Boston enjoying a Most Favored Nation status with Shanahan. Let the players handle it on the ice; that's the best way.
  8. I'm loving watching this team now. The first 5-6 weeks were brutal torture - LOL. The turn around began, by a happy coincidence, when Rick J. called that first period of the Toronto game. But it's not as if the same can't be said of Miller. Last Saturday night I was in a Boston Pizza in Burlington Ontario, having after-dinner drinks with members of a car club I belong to. The Vancouver/Maple Leafs game featured prominently. And Miller gave up 4 goals in the first period. The Leafs fans were really into it - I gotta say, I thought of the "Miller, Miller, Miller....." chant. :) Enroth's stats for shoot outs this year are lights out.
  9. I was wrong about this one. I thought my prediction was going to win out when the Sens came back to tie the game, then take the lead in the 3rd. This team is resilient - and it doesn't seem like a fluke either.
  10. Sabres can only deny reality so long....I think this one likely ends up an "L".
  11. 40 minutes combined per game for Mez and Benoit just might make for an epic Tank. GMTM needs to make it so.
  12. In hindsight, it's probably no surprise the team would do better without Ville Leino taking up all that ice time. When he was on the ice, it was like we were playing shorthanded. So who is our "Leino" this year? Whoever the 2014-15 Leino is, or will be, GMTM needs to give orders to Nolan that he be played at least 20 minutes per game. That would help get the tank back on track.
  13. Perhaps twins, and not the siamese kind? :)
  14. Co-signed. I miss Flutie-Flakes, and those Wegmans' Flutie sub sandwiches they used to sell.
  15. He'd looked really, really average the first month of the season - now all of a sudden he looks like one of the best goalies in the NHL...... Is Enroth actually two different people?
  16. The team is only a few GMTM trades for draft picks from the bottom of the NHL. Tank Devotees shouldn't lose faith yet; there's a lot of season ahead.
  17. Yes - there have been two textbook, postcard-pretty, highlight reel goals scored by Buffalo in the past two games - the Gionta/Myers goal, and of course Moulson/Ennis in the previous game. This team actually seems to be gelling and chemistry developing. Amazing, particularly considering how awful the first 5, 6 weeks of the season were. Still can't see the Sabres escaping the bottom of the Atlantic though..... they just don't have the depth or raw talent yet. A few quality guys, and some young guys with tremendous future potential, interspersed among a roster of 4th liners.
  18. Yup. Much as Fitzpatrick was. Both Fitzpatrick and Orton were the better of two or three poor choices for the Bills - but at the end of the day remain that - poor choices. Management needs to procure a QUALITY QB, and shore up that offensive line - watch a good team like Dallas - and the protection their line gives the QB. The reason the Bills are in this situation now - with a perennial lackluster offense and no good options for QB - are directly related to past decisions by Brandon and Whaley. Both of them should be shown the door at the end of the season; they are throwbacks/ties to an atrocious, record-setting bad span of Bills history. And let them take Hackett and Marrone with them when they go.
  19. I'm going to see the Sabres next week - unfortunately, it's in Detroit.
  20. I think the Sabres' recent success needs to be sustained over at least a couple months before perceptions (and stats) will change significantly, and demand for tickets rise. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. Their winning ways of recent are more likely an aberration in a Tank Year.
  21. I think this screen shot from ESPN explains it - even with the recent winning streak, the Sabres are still at or near the bottom of the league in key team stats.
  22. ^^^^ The Eye of Pegula atop the HSBC Tower - perfect!!!!!! I can almost here T-Peg's booming, disembodied voice instructing Saruman.... err.... GMTM..... "Build me a hockey team worthy of Buffalooooooooo!!!!!" haha!!!!!
  23. One Buffalo to rule them all?
  24. I can't believe, after October and the first part of November, we're actually talking positives about the Sabres. This was a fun game to watch - we figured it was over though when Calgary, the top scoring team in the 3rd period, scored that goal and took the lead early in the 3rd. Who woulda thunk the Sabres would score TWO in the third FTMFW? And that goal earlier in the game with Ennis stealing the puck and feeding to Moulson...... that was just a textbook goal - beautiful!!! I could watch again and again.
  25. ahhhh, gotcha! Twas the language with which IKP didst take umbrage, not the use thereof. I should have used this one or similar.
