Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
Jsixspd replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
That movie though - goes beyond taking artistic liberties with the Battle of Bulge - as I recall (and I haven't watched it in years) it's horrendously inaccurate and doesn't even follow the actual timeline or events of the historic Battle of the Bulge that I've read about in various books. -
Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch

That's a great film. I've always enjoyed James Mason's portrayal of Rommel. -
Kane wasn't invisible - I wished he was - his two penalties hurt the team - especially the 2nd one with the Caps scoring to tie the game. IF Mr. McRib hadn't missed so many games due to his careless injury, he would likely lead the team in PIM ahead of Gorges.
-
That last ~6 minutes of the 1st period was less than inspiring - Sabres couldn't get it out of the zone to start, then Kane with a stupid pointless slashing penalty to put Washington on the PP - then after the PP ends, they still can't get it out of the zone, so another pointless slashing penalty by Carrier, who must have been taking notes from Kane - smh
-
Yeah, Caps have the 4th lowest GF total in the league - Buffalo is 2nd worst, and only 9 goals fewer for the season than Washington. Could be interesting.

I'm LOL'ing at the thought of someone skating onto the ice with the name "d4rk" embroidered on the uniform - and RJ actually saying "d4rk????? Who the @#$% is that????? " And Razor replying "Dunno - maybe Dan Bylsma sent in a goon, RJ" lol

Well, Russ Brandon set his own brother up with a posh sinecure type executive job with the Bills - and there's Rex Ryan's brother as Defensive poohbah, and of course T-Peg set his own wife up with a top level job in the franchises, so why the heck not GMTM's uncle as HC? The nepotism runs deep in this, the Pegula Empire.

The team has been woefully in need of a real QB for, what, 15 years now? In a QB-centric game? Here's what we've had since Doug Flutie for Starting QB Rob Johnson Alex Van Pelt Drew Bledsoe JP Losman Kelly Holcomb Trent Edwards Brian Brohm Ryan Fitzpatrick EJ Manuel Thad Lewis Jeff Tuel Kyle Orton Tyrod Taylor It's like a veritable QB Hall of Shame. Most of those guys would be lucky to make it to 2nd or 3rd string on a good team.
-
The sad part is - the Bills will finish at or just above .500; left out of the playoffs for another record setting season of fail, and yet the Ryan show will continue - they're not BAD enough to force a change. Total yards defense ranking is 13th currently - and passing defense is ranked 8th. If the team were, say, 4-8 now instead of 6-6, there would likely be pressure for change. I wager the only big change - the Bills will hunt around for another "undiscovered" journeyman ham and egger backup QB to replace the current garbage, as they did with Fitzpatrick, Brohm, and most recently Tyrod Taylor. Then Brandon will market him as the next big thing! "What a find! How could <insert team name> have just left him sitting on the sideline?" lol.

Even worse - the two Tank years - infamously historically horrendous teams - 2014-15 was 1 and 3 with 7 Goals for, and 2013-14 was 2-3 with 13 goals for, against Boston. So the Tank team was 3-6 against Boston with 20 goals for, or 2.2 GFA per game. Bylsma's led Sabres are so far 1-5 and a horrible 1.8 GFA, with a supposedly IMPROVED coach and much improved team. Someone in charge at the Sabres organization should carefully review this data with Bylsma and make it clear to him the expectation for performance is higher than the results he's delivered, and that Bylsma should govern himself accordingly and CLOSE THE GAP between expectations and delivery. Wonder how Ted Nolan would do against Boston if he were coaching the current team?
-
So now we've lost the first 2 games this season against hated Boston - AND.... the Sabres have scored ONE goal in 2 games against Boston! This is not the Stanley Cup winning Boston of years gone by either, but a vulnerable Boston. The Bylsma-coached Sabres have won only 1 game out of 6 played so far against Boston. In fact, in those 6 games, the Sabres have scored 11 goals total! Take out the 6-3 win almost a year, ago, and in the past 5 games vs Boston, the Sabres have scored an atrocious 1 goal per GAME!!! That's a terrible performance against one of the Sabres' biggest rivals. That should not be acceptable - the Sabres coach needs to coach wins vs Boston. Pegula or someone in the front office should be making that very clear to Bylsma.

How about give him an "A" to start?

Done! All I had to see was " VOLUNTEER Firefighter (currently on medical leave) with Hinsdale Fire Department in NY for the last 11 years" and how could I not give? Best wishes and luck to him and his family. -

I expected that Eichel's return would have a positive impact on the team, but this much of an impact? Amazing and awesome. Is it Jack alone, or did Bylsma indeed have the team sandbagging, as he implied in that WGR550 show? -

I saw that too! Seemed like blatant cross-checking! Ahhh well, still an awesome game! Two games now where the Sabres played night and day better with Jack Eichel back in the roster. Let's hope it lasts. I joked after the previous game that the Eichel difference was +4 goals (5 goals vs the usual 1). Well, this game the Eichel difference was +3. BTW, DirecTV Genie auto recorded the Rangers feed for me - during the 1st period the Rangers announcers were discussing that fluke goal at 18 seconds in, and the very low full strength goal production of the Sabres, and that most of the Sabres' goals have come during the PP (something we've discussed at length here) and the Rangers have a low PIM, so things were still looking good for the Rangers. They just didn't realize (nor did I) how much of a pop having Jack back in the lineup would give the Sabres. It's pretty amazing - let's hope it lasts! -

Wow - what a game! I wondered how many goals, on average, per game that Jack Eichel would add to the scoring. Apparently that number is "4". And if he was bothered by his ankle injury, he sure didn't show it.- 775 replies

Should be unacceptable to fans, and the Buffalo media as well. You don't stick your head in the sand and play super conservative because Eichel and a couple other guys are out - the motive needs to be to keep the season alive and the record acceptable UNTIL the top player returns. I had mentioned in another topic a few days ago that I wondered if Bylsma's looking at Eichel as the savior of his own job? That's just pathetic that a veteran NHL coach would view a talented rookie as his personal savior - but it seems increasingly clear that's indeed the case. Can we get Roy Ruffton back?

How about some alternate nicknames for Disco Dan? Dismal Dan? Downbeat Dan? Dour Dan? Depressing Dan? Discouraging Dan? Downer Dan?
-
What????? Link? If nothing else, Jack's return should be a morale boost for the rest of the team; heaven knows that Downbeat Dan Bylsma can't help cheer the roster up when they need encouragement or in a tough spot.

Also, Boudreau's speech was between periods, NOT pregame. I wish we had a bigger set of pregame speeches to draw upon for comparison purposes - I would love to hear a typical Quenneville pre-game, typical Babcock, typical Julien, typical Sutter, etc Perhaps every coach's pregame is that dry and by the numbers? It's only during periods they turn up the heat if their team is under performing?

Tonight - JACK'S BACK!!!!

Excellent deep dive and detailed stats - thank you so much for this information. Gorges and Risto clearly go together like oil and water. And still wondering if it's Bylsma's 'system' that's mostly responsible (so many other dynamics of course) for tanking Gorges' play ?
