 The defense has been pretty atrocious all season - the Sabres lead the league in SOGs against.... 33.3, more than 1/2 shot higher than number 2 - Edmonton. And we have the 3rd worst differential in the NHL - we're taking 5.4 shots fewer than we're allowing. http://espn.go.com/nhl/statistics/team/_/stat/scoring/sort/avgShotsAgainst/year/2013/seasontype/2 And yeah, I noticed one play in particular where the Jets player just shot right past Sekera, near the centerline, and Sekera couldn't keep up.

That's impressive that Jhonas got a star tonight in a losing game. He can't be faulted.... 2nd goal - what in the hell was Weber doing? And Ennis couldn't find that opening if you put fur around the damn edges
-
Josie, you deserve the recognition. That is outstanding work. Congrats.
-
Well, the general issue with the Sabres remains - the SOG differential - and that you can't have the opponent making 35-40 SOG every game and expect to win consistently. Jets goalie only faced 25 SOG
-
Well that ridiculous "offside" call killed any chance of scoring. The officiating was terrible in that game. Grigs was tripped and no call.
-
Haha....I heard that too. Almost sounded like earhart...wondered if RJ thinks he is related to Amelia?
-
That was horrible that the Jets didnt get called for elbowing Erhoff in the head but Ott takes a penalty.
-
Beautiful shot by Vanek
-
Terrible defense by Weber.

I can't believe Ennis missed an almost wide open net. These guys are sloppy in the fundamentals.
-
Yeah, I noticed that. Even so, he STILL has a Leino-like goal output for this season - 6 goals - what a joke!
-
Well, as far as the 3 superstar players just named, Hossa was a major free agency signing a few years ago - Kane and Toews were both extremely excellent draft picks. Drafting well can certainly build the future of a team - emphasis on well!!! That's why I could care less about how many great draft pick positions Regier gets handed right now- as long as he's doing the picking, it's just gonna be more fail, more futility. Once we get a decent GM and ditch our 17 year Cicada, then I'll get excited about draft pick position.
-
His plus minus is now -17!!!!! Just lazy and sloppy like Roy was. Much like Roy he is emblematic of the culture of failure enshrined of late in the Sabres organization.
-
The Predators played tough, but the Blackhawks pulled it out in OT last night. I gotta admit - I love watching the Blackhawks.... Patrick Kane executed just a picture-perfect clean and crisp setup pass to Hossa for the game-winning goal..... and of course Toews was right by the net to distract the Preds goalie.

That's a good point. I remember one defensive zone faceoff against the Caps when Hodgson lost the faceoff so cleanly it was almost like he wasn't even there, the puck was fired back to Ovechkin who blasted it in for an almost instantaneous goal all of which occurred in less than 2 seconds from the puck drop.

Something that Miller does frequently - and it irritates me - he doesn't cover up when given the opportunity and thus keep the game under control, but instead keeps the puck in play. A lot of goalies will cover up and bring play to a halt more often than Miller. That ridiculous goal last night immediately before he was pulled - he was trying to keep the puck in play instead of covering up - he called it one of his 'worst mistakes' - well, the potential for more of his 'worst mistakes' is there every time he tries too hard to keep the puck in play.
-
Yes, we won. Our playoff quest continues with a passion.
-
haha - like Tony Montana warned Alberto....
-
Well, Miller re-invigorated this topic with his poor performance tonight. He has only himself to blame for the criticism.
-
Ruhwedel and Weber were the only pluses on the roster tonight. Brutal plus/minus stats tonight. Amazing - Rangers only had one more shot than the Sabres - 29 vs 28. But the 8 giveaways were killer (right, WEBER you idiot!!!????) and a nice edge in faceoff wins - 33 vs 26
-
Again, draft pick is meaningless with a bum like Regier or Regier's hand picked lackeys doing the selections.
-
Pegula should fire him immediately - but for whatever reason he's still got that raging man-crush on Regier.
-
Yep - Rangers were in "prevent" mode anyways at that point.
-
we only need 5 goals in 40 seconds to win in regulation - LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4:00 - time is not our ally now.
