Holy Mackerel! Sabres Win Dahlin Lottery!

I'm happy, but super happy that we don't have to draft Mr. Super-Sized Diaper Pants Svechnikov [Look at his highlights if you don't catch the drift.] -
Holy Mackerel! Sabres Win Dahlin Lottery!
etiennep99 replied to Randall Flagg's topic in The Aud Club
I thought that too, but thre's a problem with that in the lottery. When you think about i, at 50% the last place team will win it often enough that when it doesn't win, it will feel totally ripped off (rigged?). That's true especially if a much lower placed team wins it, with much lower odds as 50% has to be spread over the 14 other teams. At least the old system only allowed a team to move up a max of 4 places, so the last place team that failed to win still had good odds of keeping the pick. Poor Arizona keeps on finishing near the bottom and hasn't won yet either. But then again, Arizona wouldn't exist without almost constant NHL intervention. -
If I had to guess, I'd say his name sounds like "peeloot", a great match for Poo.

Artturi Lehkonen is what Larsson should be. Hockey IQ. Decent skater. Hard on the puck. Can score. Plays defence. He's not going to save a team (see Canadiens, Montreal), but he is the kind of guy we need who shows determination. Claude Julien loved the guy, at least last year. Paul Hamilton thinks that we have a lot of dumb players. Here's a quotation from an interesting article.

Crazy RO'R trade idea: Ryan O'Reilly & Larsson(C/LW) to Montreal for Artturi Lehkonen(LW/RW), 1st (2018), 2nd (2018), 3rd (2018) [Montreal is loaded with 2nds and 3rds this year; and this year is a supposed to be a deep draft, right?].

Syracuse had 7 rookies. Seven very good rookies. And their veterans seemed to goon it up. Last year Syracuse was the "runner up" to the Calder Cup. It was not a massive shame to loose to Syracuse. What I don't understand is why they didn't play Wilcox in game three. If the goal is to play in the playoffs, and your "goalie of the future" is stinking up the joint, then play Wilcox so you can live another day. It's not like they didn't sit out Fasching or bench Nylander. Taylor and/or Roch/Buff GMs are to blame for not at least trying Wilcox in goal. It's too bad that the Amerks couldn't resign Matt Bodie this year. Bodie and Redmon playing together would've been a terror on the league.

OK. I'm outta here for the day. I've already long surpassed my quota...

Says, "That Uneducated Smell". True, but not so obvious. Jerseys and gloves and helmets and masks....And I seem to recall a player getting called out for not wearing his dress clothes and showing off his tats...

Why does a word HAVE TO APPLY TO ONLY ONE RACE? Aren't MS-13 considered Ganstas? Aren't many of them Hispanic and White? I think it is more racist to only use certain terminology for a particular "group". This word can only be used for Blacks. This word can only describe Hispanics. This word is only for Whites. If we are all people, then we should all try to use nice language to describe all people. But sometimes you have to call out the bad apples, as I've done in hockey too. If you have read my posts, you will see, for example, that I am rooting for Daniel Muzito-Bagenda (spelled from memory). I liked Bruce Smith and Thurman Thomas. One of my heros risked death threats to help blacks in the deep South in the 40's to 60's....I have no problem with people of character and skill. Just saying that football has lost my interest for _many_ reasons.

When I was child, when my dad told me to take out the trash, I did. As an adult, if I visit my dad, and he asks me to take out the trash, I do. OK. I'm sorry, I was just tired and ranting. My head was spinning from pain injections this afternoon. And I drove through a bad part of town on the way to my almost in the hood dwelling place where bad music was blaring through my closed windows and locked doors. Mea culpa for an angry rant. :-( But, if we can politely,...It's not like the OT was just a big mistake. It was to show ALL people, with the Isrealites as a chosen example, how important and yet how difficult it is to be holy and to approach to God. The NT was to set the record straight that what matters is what is in the heart. But a change of heart should produce someone who values what was set forth in the OT, not as a rigid law. The NT states that we are to treat our body as a temple for the Holy Spirit. We are to keep our bodies holy and sanctified. The portion in the OT that bans tattoos is all about how to distinguish oneself from the heathen and to be holy. So, no, you won't go to hell for having or even getting a tattoo. But a true change of heart should direct you to the wisdom of leaving the body as God created it. --Not to be haughty, but I have a big bookcase of Bibles and religious texts, and I attended a religious institution in addition to four other secular/state institutions. Just saying that I've given this issue a lot of thought and research. :-)

Ganster (N) "member of a criminal gang," 1896, American English, from gang (n.) in its criminal sense + -ster. Related: Gangsterism (1918). -etymologyonline.com Cool.

I didn't mention ANYONE's race. Some of you are making a RACIST assumption. Content of Character, not colour of skin quoth a wise man, a CHRISTIAN man. God says no tattoos. That's what's wrong. You know, the frog doesn't realize that the water is getting hotter and hotter until he's cooked. I HAVE NO SHAME IN TRADITIONAL AMERICAN CULTURE INCLUDING ITS CHRISTIAN ROOTS. Call me a troll if you want, but you've all ignored the fact that football is so very dependent on the QB that it's no longer a team sport. Maybe y'all can't remember when RBs could win a game too (save for Barry Sanders in Detroit).

How can anyone follow a team sport that relies so heavily on one player (i.e. Quarterback) ? Football sucks. Too many unpatriotic, whiny, tattoed, gansta players. At least in hockey we don't see that stuff (yet, God forbid). CHL hockey players come across as smarter and more gentile than almost all college edumuhcated footballers. Ugh. But yeah, give up the whole freakin' draft to move up to number one to draft yet another bust of a quarterback because your team can't scout. At least in hockey scouting and drafting well matters (viz. The Buffalo Sabres). Sorry, but I'm sooo sick of hearing about how Buffalo needs to move up in the draft.

Ryan O'Reilly: "Stuck with the mindset of losing"
etiennep99 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Not to be an ar$e, but does ROR speak Erse? -
The Canadiens have been desperately seeking a centre. They've tried Galchenyuk and Drouin at C, and both failed miserably. We have 2 great centres with more possible centres on the way (Mittelman, Maloner, Blackwell(on AHL but lighting it up), Asplund, Davidsson, Oglevie, O'Regan, E-Rod, etc.) So, yeah, Montreal would pay through the nose to get ROR from us. 100 per cent agree with the comments on the Kane Komments. I sat down like the Thinker and came up with these two teams too (along with SJ and Montreal). So, is it a real rumor, or just that obvious who needs centres?

And that my friends describes Western New York to a tee. Economy really, really, sucks. Winter weather sucks. Sports teams usually suck. Cities are filling up with legal and illegal immigrants who, well, I'll let you complete the sentence based on your own politcal views....But once you accept a losing culture, and set into place failed economic policies at state and local levels, well, the disillusion can cause brain damage. WNY seems to have old leftovers (like me) who stay for some reason (family) or some imports (like a lot of unethical medical "professionals" coming here because they couldn't make it elsewhere), and a lot of immigrants from places which had wretched economies and politics....Where's the solution?
-
Agreed, Nolan was not a solution. I was in fact quite disturbed with how Nolan replaced Deslauriers. The move had HCPH written all over it. Nick has heart. He scored 10 (ten!) goals this year in Montreal. Montreal, by the way, finished ahead of us in the standings. [i did say that if we had to get rid off Nick, then Redmond was a good short term return. Redmond hit career highs with Roch while helping them get back into the Calder Cup Playoffs.] This was a move made to please the head coach and his vaunted "system". Sure we need speedy guys. But we also saw how little heart and passion is left on the team. Maybe it's because I only listen to the radio streams but Nolan _sounded_ totally invisible in every game but two (one where he scored 2 goals, and one where he scored another). Wilson seemed more like GMJB actually making a planned move instead of a knee-jerk reaction to a waivers offering. Wilson seems to be a nice, and cheap, pick-up.

LOL. No. Russians...

Permit me the pleasure of name dropping: Mikhail Grigorenko Nikita Zadorov Alexander Radulov Valeri Nichushkin Niki Zherdev Alexandr Svitov Nikita Filatov Filatov added he was once offered a deal by Hitchcock: if the winger played strong defense, Hitchcock would let him roam around the ice on offense. “It fell on deaf ears,” Filatov told Shevchenko. “(I’m a) forward who can score, do not touch me...." Russian facts factor not in their favor. So, no Andrei Svechnikov Большое спасибо.

Mobile puck moving D with excellent offensive instincts & ability to read the game, ISS Hockey 2017 -- -- "wonderfully accurate [passes] and his shots always on target". How many Sabres past or present can match that? Zhitnik(Ha!) OK. If we could get Dahlin, Boqvist, & Bouchard, then I'd be happy. I ain't nobody, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Just enjoying the ride.

I'd draft by need, draft the best defenseman Bouchard. :w00t:

Agreed. Who am I to judge, right? Last night Paul Hamilton remarked that he had yet to see a top gear out of Casey Mittelstadt; he was wondering why so much hype on his skating. Am I vindicated a little? Remember how GMTM and the whole world was raving about Reinhart and his hockey IQ? And yet the pundits still didn't have him over Sam; and they had both above Draisaitl. Where's Sam Bennett today? 3rd/4th line on a team that failed to make playoffs! It just seems like the scouts meme each-other [pun intended] and over-hype some players, especially at the top. So, if I'm the Sabres (pre-draft lottery): 1. Dahlin - OK, I _am_ falling for the hype. 2. Zadina - I'm expecting even more scoring ability to come. I see hockey IQ; and he already can skate great. 3. Bouchard - RD with size, strength, skates well enough, with great offensive ability and plays a ton of minutes. What can go wrong? Craig Button compared him to Larry Murphy. Sure he started in the 80's but: 1216 career points y'all! 4. Trade down... Svechnikov seems a bit boom or bust. Sure the upside sounds like Ovechkin, but downside sounds like Pavel Brendl. We need a sure thing. Hughes is intriguing just for his puck possession ability. From video clips, he doesn't seem to be able to play a team game as he is head and shoulders above the rest. Or is it that he might be lacking in hockey IQ department a smidge and not able to raise the play of this mates? Last year I was intrigued by/high on Cale Makar. Cale's staying at least another year in college. He says that he's too small and too weak for NHL yet. That sums up guys like Hughes, Boqvist, etc. Besides don't we have Bryson, and Fitzgerald, in college ranks already? Why haven't we signed Budik who put up improved offensive numbers in the W this year? Brycen Martin had 3 years of 37/38 points in W. He's playing ECHL. It's just tough to get a well-rounded offensive defenceman.
