Yes, a lot has changed. If Vesey signed with us, he'd be on his 3rd coach right now.
Actually, he's on his 3rd coach anyway. Vigneault, Quinn, and now Krueger.

I'm honestly a little taken aback that the NHL allows for this kind of man-handling of smaller market teams by large market teams. Not that I have any love for Carolina, but if they were my team, I would be furious that a team with basically unlimited money is able to take my team and bend it over by front loading contracts in a way that my team can't honestly afford to match them. That kinda sucks.
I fully expect limiting bonus money to be a thing during the next lockout.

That’s getting matched with ease
Yea I honestly don't understand that offer sheet at all. But if lightning strikes and it works, I'll be sooooooo jealous.

That Bobrovsky deal is so brutal. I feel bad for the Panthers fan.
Don't. JJ is one of them.

Our number 2 was just drafted and no way Risto brings back a number 2 in a trade. Our true number 2 will be here next Summer....
Even if Cozens is in the NHL in 2020, he won't be ready for 2C duties right away.

I just woke up and am mad at sports. I do sense Botterill has whiffed hard this offseason. If he trades Risto and doesn’t get an undeniable NHL forward he’s failed.
Knicks fan, eh? ?
I think we pretty much all agree that if Botterill doesn't bring in a legit 2C, at least, he's whiffed hard. But let's see him whiff before spazzing.

Browsing through topics fast I saw "Sébastien" and had a mini heart attack thinking it was Sebastian Aho.

Nyquist 4 years 5.5 AAV.
That hurts
Blah. I'd have loved that deal.

Hate it. Not sure it improves this team, either.
Also a very clear sign Botterill has failed in all other pursuits. This guy is starting to sink, in my eyes. Better hope he knows how to draft.
Is my sarcasm detector broken, or...

Right and I know that, but that doesn't mean their useless picks to have
Meh. It's a better use of a 3rd round pick than Botterill's love of trading up in the draft.

At best is definitely not true; it's likely but not definite. And it's another asset we could have used elsewhere
Actually, the likely outcome is that pick doesn't have a meaningful NHL career.

Spending a pick on a replacement player for 1 year seems stupid
At best, a 3rd round pick in 2021 will be an NHL player of Vesey's caliber in....2025/6. I just can't imagine caring at all.

He's a UFA after this year too, does anyone think he actually stays?
Does anyone care?

Cheap depth scorer added for a single peanut. We needed more cheap depth, so it works for me...unless we don't get another legit winger. Vesey can't be the answer.

Take Duchene off that roster as well. Dzingel too.
Still liking that roster?
Beat me by that much.

Even without Bob and Panarin their lineup is probably still better than ours.
I'll take that bet. Don't forget losing Duchene.

Sorry I thought we were talking about Kadri. As for Risto, if we can get a good to very good return on him, why wouldn't we trade him??
Sorry, I misinterpreted where you were coming from. I've been in so many Risto arguments lately I thought you were doing the "ease his usage and he'll be good" thing. Carry on.

Just wait for this season when Matthews scores 8 goals because he got his money and is now lazy!

I'm pretty sure it's because he went from 2nd line Center to 3rd. Amazing how that works.
Going to 3C changed his stats because of who he played with, not because who he played against. But nice try to justify Risto's continued presence on this roster ?

Possession stats went up but his goals dropped from 32 in consecutive years to 16
Goals are a fickle mistress. Went from shooting above his career percentage to below. That'll do it.
1 minute ago, Brawndo said:He went from being a 2C to 3C when Tavares signed
Almost certainly plays a role in the percentage drop. Go from Marner to...Marleau?

Didn't realize Kadri had fallen off such a cliff
Kadri hasn't. But if Marner gets his $11.5M, somebody else may have to go.
-
13 minutes ago, WildCard said:
Surprised boy wonder up North wanted him then
Probably cheap replacement for Kadri if they have to move him to fit Marner under the cap.

If an offer sheet is so bad that even Carolina is willing to match, does it really count?
