  1. Because he wins big games. *hesitates* Is this a big game? Regardless, should be Schneider.
  2. I love Twitter:
  3. Probably smarter than what gets said in USA Hockey team selection meetings. Abdelkader? Dubinsky? The Johnsons? These are neither marquee nor performing players.
  4. All I want is a group that does not possess an unhealthy obsession with grit to be in charge of USA Hockey. Is that so much to ask for? IN A BEST ON BEST TOURNAMENT, DON'T LEAVE A COLLECTION OF YOUR BEST PLAYERS AT HOME TO BRING THE JUSTIN ABDELKADERS OF THE WORLD!!! FFS.
  5. That's cute, you think we're going to score.
  6. Pain.
  7. Yea, but the cost could be a fair argument. The whole Zemgus equivalency thing you weaved in, however... Don't feel bad, my all-timer is saying I'd rather have Myers than Karlsson because...reasons I'd rather not get into. I also wouldn't have moved Myers for Getzlaf. In fact, I think the majority of my historically bad takes have been because of Myers
  8. How many heads would explode if the 50th anniversary uniform change was the return of the goat heads?
  9. So the distortion has improved their show? ;)
  10. Jack's been good this tournament. I want him to be great, and think he can be. Apparently McLellan agrees.
  11. I wonder how many of us can remember our own worst moments. Maybe a self-shaming thread? After all, it's easy to remember the failures of others.
  12. Some real butt hurt in here. Yeesh.
  13. Proof I'm more than a number-crunching robot: I'm pretty upset Eichel is down on the 4th line. I don't think it matters, but man, I really wanted him to be great this tournament.
  14. Totally fair. I will say that if Risto gets 8, then Jack and Sam must also get 8 because there's no f'n way I want all three hitting UFA at once...not that I'd want to sign Jack and Sam for less than 8 anyway. Just sayin.
  15. Though I generally think Pi is out to lunch, I don't think we should be too worried about this. Ever year stars enter their UFA season without a contract, and every year they re-sign with their current team. Stamkos was the only one who even flirted with leaving. I'm conflicted here. On the one hand, sure the longer of his prime we get signed now the better. On the other hand, I don't want to be in the spot Chicago was where they had to pay a soon-to-be (or already, depending on who you ask) declining player (Seabrook) big money at 30. If we could sign Risto for 8 I probably prefer that to 6, but I don't think 6 is a bad option.
  16. Looking at some pictures of the red Key Bank banners inside the Arena. Yuck. Just yuck.
  17. The model uses data from the past three years. I wouldn't call that , but it's definitely going to spit out some wonky results for a team that was trying to lose for two of those three.
  18. In other news, apparently Larkin didn't play a single shift in the 3rd. Drouin had...one? Gaudreau didn't seem to have a lot either, unless he just wasn't getting the puck. Overall odd ice distribution.
  19. Stephen Burtch ‏@SteveBurtch 24s24 seconds agoToronto, Ontario Matthews played 9:17 in the 3rd period. Led All NA forwards in TOI. Only Gostisbehere had more TOI on the backend. I really want to like him, I really do. But his presence in Toronto means I'm going to have to spend 15 years hate-watching him.
  20. !
  21. I think MacKinnon is going to have a monster year post-Roy. He looks great.
  22. Yea, see, just that isn't even worth it for me. Food is a means to an end for me, I just don't particularly enjoy eating. I want to get through it as fast as possible to do other stuff. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a high quality meal...but I don't get enough enjoyment out of it to be bothered to do it myself.
  23. Seems that way. Haven't seen him yet in the 3rd. And there he is. And there he is going face first into the boards.
  24. What a play by Nuge.
  25. Said it last year, hope to say it less this year: Jack is every bit the scintillating hockey talent he was advertised to be. But he was less developed as a hockey play than I was led to believe.
