Again: if the system of checks and balances worked as intended, Trump and many of his administration would be on the fast track to removal from office. And after that, perhaps prison.

And more. Seems once the whistleblower showed the courage to formally report the corruption, the floodgates have opened.

At this point, you either support Trump or support the United States, the Constitution, and the rule of law.

Sony Announced Today that Spider Man 3 releasing in 2021, will be produced by Disney Marvel Studios afterall

Not surprising. Too much money to be made for Disney and too much downside risk for Sony for them to not have worked something out.

    Isn't there already a Spiderman 3?

Have you seen it? I think it's best we all pretend there isn't.

And yet WITH ROR we finished DFL and 1yr removed(and about $25M less paid out), here we are back at the same point before Botts got here (76pts vs 78pts in the standings).

We also finished DFL with Eichel. That doesn't mean we should go trading him for a giant pile of poo and saved payroll.

This trade had someone else’s fingerprints all over it

With the teams Botterill has iced, I see no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt and dump the mess on the owner.

The problem I have with your analysis (and I realize it's a generalization, not a deep statistical dive) is that a large portion of the 25% misses end up a prime scoring chances for the opposition.

I just feel like some fans, me included, aren't going to be able to get past the glaring mistakes that lead to goals.

I guess stats will bear it out but it is tough to ignore glaring gaffs that have negative consequences.

Nobody should ignore the gaffs, but they also shouldn't be viewed in isolation. As long as the balance of the ledger is positive, who cares?

  5. If the system of checks and balances enshrined in the Constitution functioned as intended by the founders, Trump (and Barr, and maybe a few others) would be on the fast track to impeachment and removal from office. The full whistleblower report is bad. It's the smoking gun of direct activity by Trump that Mueller was never able to uncover during the Russia investigation.

As is, they probably all survive at least until January 2021.

Woody left too much wiggle room for the football gods with his timely injury to the guy chucking the pigskin comment.

He needed to specify the QB who made the deal with the devil as the one who should be hurt.

I'm okay with blaming Woody. Now please go back to your actual job: finding us Risto trade rumors to post.

The Bills aren't good. This week will be the beginning of the end.

The Bills don't have to be good in a vacuum, just relative to the rest of the conference. Which, excepting the Patriots and Chiefs, is anywhere from mediocre to bad. The Bills are good by the standard they have to be to make the playoffs. Seriously, the AFC is terrible.

Fair enough but what could he have done that he hasn't. I guess the real question is how long reasonably speaking does it take to take a last place team to a playoff competitor?  Maybe our long standing frustration has made us unrealistic in our expectations. Hey, I'm not getting any younger so I want it turned around as quickly as anyone but what's realistic timing for a new management team to get it turned?

We don't know what we don't know, ya know? I can't say he should have done X or Y, but he didn't take over the worst team in the league. The team had coaching, blue line, and forward depth issues, to be sure. But it wasn't like he took over the tank team--they just had seasons of 81 and 78 points. He proceeded to turn over the majority of the roster, and iced two teams worse than the team he took over (62 and 76 points, with worse goal differentials both years), while needing to fire his coach.

I don't know there's a general "this is how long it takes to build a playoff team" number that exists as it's all so context-dependent. But I'm very confident the team wasn't in such bad shape that they had to take two steps backward before a single step forward.

I think most of us here are quite upset by the ROR trade. I know I was and was elated when we got him. Serious question. If we could blot that out of our minds what is your view of Botterill?  If I don't take that bad trade into consideration I honestly don't think he's doing that bad. Not great but acceptable. He's building our depth and I have no reason to feel he's missed making any moves he could have improved our team with.

He's entering season #3 and the team isn't any better in the standings than when he took over. I'm to the point where I don't care about individual moves much compared to the whole product. And the whole product says he's done a poor job.

  10. I expect us to have bottom-10 goaltending. Whether that ends up around 21st or 31st is anyone's guess. Ultimately I don't think there was anything for Botterill to do this offseason, nor am I especially in favor of investing a significant amount in a trade for a goalie. However, Botterill had plenty of options last offseason and he chose the Hutton-Ullmark tandem. I struggle with the final question prompt because it's a double-barreled question, so I'll simply say if the team stinks again then I have no problem with Botterill being canned. It's not my expectation, but I'd support it.

I knew the cap played a role, but I also thought they were going to help our forward depth. Sobotka had 30 points that season and played a fair amount of minutes on a good team, Berglund was a good soldier capable of scoring 20 goals.

It was good reminder of how a look at a stat sheet and memories of a handful of games where a player left a positive impression is no substitute for actual recent scouting.

The parallels between these two and Vesey and Johansson are kinda scary.

I genuinely appreciate your ability to be honest with what you thought at the time. I remember some knock-down arguments on this forum at the time of the trade revolving around whether Sobotka and Berglund were cap dumps or had hockey value.

Neither thoughts nor prayers can help you. The only thing you can do is flee.

They do yeah. 15% maybe? The Pats are even better than ever, if that was possible, and they have their best defense in over a decade; Allen needs to play much better to win this game

Way to set yourself up for disappointment. I think there's a 15% chance the game is competitive in the 4th quarter, let alone winning.

TruBlue would trade Skinner to the Loafs for a 7th rounder and the rights to Roger Clemens. And frankly, he should be fired immediately for that.

Although I do hate Skinner, you should take solace in the fact I'd never willfully help my current most hated franchise.

I usually look to and enjoy reading posters thoughts when they are well balanced, logical, not petty or immature in nature. When they post just as much positive as they do negative. I don’t take any fan seriously when it’s all one way or the other. It means some fans don’t have the ability to see and appreciate a good thing or bad thing when it happens with sports teams.

I'm not sure how much value there is in balance for the sake of balance. I agree with wanting to look at things from a variety of perspectives, but the overall balance of content should reflect the underlying reality. On the other hand, I fully agree on the how of the argument mattering significantly. Style matters.
