  1. That's not a nightmare ?
  2. I'd be so happy.
  3. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/trump-told-russian-officials-in-2017-he-wasnt-concerned-about-moscows-interference-in-us-election/2019/09/27/b20a8bc8-e159-11e9-b199-f638bf2c340f_story.html Again: if the system of checks and balances worked as intended, Trump and many of his administration would be on the fast track to removal from office. And after that, perhaps prison. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/09/27/politics/white-house-restricted-trump-calls-putin-saudi/index.html?__twitter_impression=true And more. Seems once the whistleblower showed the courage to formally report the corruption, the floodgates have opened. At this point, you either support Trump or support the United States, the Constitution, and the rule of law.
  4. Please define for me an objective assessment of Risto. Or....any player.
  5. Watching Olofsson bury feeds from Eichel is one of only two things I'm actually excited about this season. (The second is watching Dahlin's growth).
  6. On that note, where in the world did September go? I feel like it just started.
  7. F5 F5 F5 Dammit, I need something to get me through these final few hours of work!
  8. Not surprising. Too much money to be made for Disney and too much downside risk for Sony for them to not have worked something out. Have you seen it? I think it's best we all pretend there isn't.
  9. We also finished DFL with Eichel. That doesn't mean we should go trading him for a giant pile of poo and saved payroll. With the teams Botterill has iced, I see no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt and dump the mess on the owner.
  10. No big deal, just the President of the United States casually suggesting the whistleblower and everyone who gave them information be executed.
  11. Nobody should ignore the gaffs, but they also shouldn't be viewed in isolation. As long as the balance of the ledger is positive, who cares?
  12. If the system of checks and balances enshrined in the Constitution functioned as intended by the founders, Trump (and Barr, and maybe a few others) would be on the fast track to impeachment and removal from office. The full whistleblower report is bad. It's the smoking gun of direct activity by Trump that Mueller was never able to uncover during the Russia investigation. As is, they probably all survive at least until January 2021.
  13. This is just priming Matthews to have a Tom Brady-style FU season and score 60.
  14. I'm okay with blaming Woody. Now please go back to your actual job: finding us Risto trade rumors to post.
  15. The Bills don't have to be good in a vacuum, just relative to the rest of the conference. Which, excepting the Patriots and Chiefs, is anywhere from mediocre to bad. The Bills are good by the standard they have to be to make the playoffs. Seriously, the AFC is terrible.
  16. The Bills can actually be good and still not in the same class as this year's Patriots. Which is essentially where I land. I expect us to get smoked, but that's more of a commentary on the Patriots than the Bills.
  17. We don't know what we don't know, ya know? I can't say he should have done X or Y, but he didn't take over the worst team in the league. The team had coaching, blue line, and forward depth issues, to be sure. But it wasn't like he took over the tank team--they just had seasons of 81 and 78 points. He proceeded to turn over the majority of the roster, and iced two teams worse than the team he took over (62 and 76 points, with worse goal differentials both years), while needing to fire his coach. I don't know there's a general "this is how long it takes to build a playoff team" number that exists as it's all so context-dependent. But I'm very confident the team wasn't in such bad shape that they had to take two steps backward before a single step forward.
  18. He's entering season #3 and the team isn't any better in the standings than when he took over. I'm to the point where I don't care about individual moves much compared to the whole product. And the whole product says he's done a poor job.
  19. I expect us to have bottom-10 goaltending. Whether that ends up around 21st or 31st is anyone's guess. Ultimately I don't think there was anything for Botterill to do this offseason, nor am I especially in favor of investing a significant amount in a trade for a goalie. However, Botterill had plenty of options last offseason and he chose the Hutton-Ullmark tandem. I struggle with the final question prompt because it's a double-barreled question, so I'll simply say if the team stinks again then I have no problem with Botterill being canned. It's not my expectation, but I'd support it.
  20. I genuinely appreciate your ability to be honest with what you thought at the time. I remember some knock-down arguments on this forum at the time of the trade revolving around whether Sobotka and Berglund were cap dumps or had hockey value.
  21. Swap out Gilmour for McCabe and flip a coin between Sheary and Thompson for press box duty, and that's our most likely opening night roster, right?
  22. Neither thoughts nor prayers can help you. The only thing you can do is flee.
  23. Way to set yourself up for disappointment. I think there's a 15% chance the game is competitive in the 4th quarter, let alone winning.
  24. Although I do hate Skinner, you should take solace in the fact I'd never willfully help my current most hated franchise. I'm not sure how much value there is in balance for the sake of balance. I agree with wanting to look at things from a variety of perspectives, but the overall balance of content should reflect the underlying reality. On the other hand, I fully agree on the how of the argument mattering significantly. Style matters.
