  1. Well, technically my parents forced me to take their flip phone with me to OK, but not only does it not have texting, I haven't put minutes on it since like February, it's just been sitting dead in the closet
  2. I mean, I'm perfectly happy using email. I don't have a cell phone so I can't call or text. But if I try to email students of mine, or other grad students, there's no goddamn way I'm getting an answer from them, so I don't bother anymore. Adults are the only people to ever respond to them
  3. Also, I know they want to give Pilut time in Rochester, but if they're being honest about an "open competition" and if he doesn't regress the rest of the preseason, not one person could tell me with a straight face he isn't one of the 6 best D right now in the organization. And mayyyybe there's an argument that the reigning SHL D-man of the year in his 22/23 year old season needs the AHL time, but I don't think it's very convincing. Our D looks a lot better with Beaulieu as a 7D than a 3/4 on the second pairing with Bogosian, who also isn't a 3/4. Scandella - Risto Pilut - Bogosian Dahlin - McCabe Where the time splits are something like 23-24 minutes for the top line, 18 each for the second 2, is what I want to see.
  4. I've read the claim in two different places (twitter and hf, so yeah, that's why I'm checking in here) that it was written in some article that Sam told Jack he doesn't like playing center. Has anyone here heard the same?
  5. Since we haven't heard anything, I assume Pominville's lack of presence is just a vet thing? No need to play him and risk injury?
  6. Interesting linemates for Jack Attack. Gotta tune in for this one. Probably the last preseason game I'll watch though. As always, stay healthy boys.
  7. I hate to be a bit of a downer, but with Mitts' struggles, are we a Jack injury away from tank-level center depth? Berglund Sobotka Girgensons? Larsson? Rodrigues? Because Casey might have to start in Roch, and in any event the current Casey probably isn't ready to be an effective NHL C even if he's up here. Stay healthy Jack. Long-term we'll be fine, but for the immediate season upgrades elsewhere have shifted our weakness to our center spine in all likelihood.
  8. ROR is one of maybe three reasons we ever won a game last year. The most motivated current Tage Thompson in the world, put in the exact situation, would have had us finish with even fewer points than we did. By a large amount, considering ROR's defensive usage broke (very specific) records, and Tage to this point is a 12-goal-pacing forward with nice single-offseason development. The two teams, and two players' situations, cannot be directly compared whatsoever. We are a new and hopefully better team, with a completely new and different look, and @TrueBlueGED and I are probably in for a looooooooooong season of being accused of "nitpicking" when we point out that posters are not describing last season accurately at all w.r.t. Ryan, Ryan's "attitude," and the team's struggles in general.
  9. They saw how outclassed they were talent-wise, but kept playing anyway.
  10. I believe situations in general have enough nuance, so that in this one people can appreciate Tage's preseason and be sickened by the artificially constructed deadline sell-off (which is also what the Sens did with EK - you get spanked when you paint yourself into this corner) completely ignoring an identical-but-worse comparable trade from the season before in which the GM waited longer, into the season, made the playoffs, and got more for a worse and more disgruntled player than ROR, without the locker room falling apart. Which is a take consistent with that side's view of the trade, despite attempts made months later to paint the take as dull and simplistic internet trash
  11. I do wish Tage would ease off the toe-drag a bit - that isn't going to fly nearly as much with NHL defensive sticks (the leafs don't have any of those)
  12. Anybody that lowers the price of a guy with more ES goals than anyone on your team over the past two seasons to a 4th round pick probably shouldn't be in your on-ice plans haha
  13. Wish Tage would have passed that puck.
  14. I've been messaging my Leafs fan friend with a "is Horty good to go yet?" every couple of months for the last, like, four years
  15. Today is the first day in at least 2 months that I've remembered that Ogelvie and O'Regan are not the same player. I've thought about/seen one or the other various times, but never both at the same time.
  16. Are we going to get a peeper at any point, ya goofs in stripes?
  17. Nylander driving on that rush is what gave Tage the room to do that too. More generally, our transition game is so much better than it has been in the past. When your organization commits to working on it, as Phil started in training camp last year (lamenting how a bunch of the guys couldn't complete simple 5 foot passes) it eventually pays off.
  18. Is Kadri f*cking dumb? Why would he get a penalty shot there?
  19. Awesome stuff from Nylander against Tavares.
  20. I wonder if we'll all have to swap Casey's name in our mock-lineups to Asplund.
  21. I can't say I'm mad with how our B team is playing the Leafs' A team.
  22. Idk if I'm a millennial but I only use email to talk to old people for sure.
  23. Fixed I actually had a lot of trouble typing out that record - it took me 3 times to get the OT loss column correct, I first typed 20, then 19, then finally 10
